What is your favorite subject? Intro: For many students, summer highlights include hanging out with friends and memories of concerts. Each summer music festival grow more big with many activities to do and artists to see. Check out a wide-range of artist performs at North Coast, Country Thunder, Lollapalooza, while keeping in mind ticket prices and tips. North Coast North Coast Music Festival is a collaboration of independent promoters in Chicago that takes place from Aug. 31 through Sept. 2. Since 2010, its opening, the festival has kept growing. In 2018 North Coast, Three day tickets were sold out and single day tickets went fast. Tickets also include general admission, VIP and single-day passes but payment plans are no longer available. Tickets can also be bought at the festival, and all ages can attend. Merchandise is sold at the festival and lockers are available to secure your belongings. The festival takes place even if it rains, but visit the website for the most up-to-date information. Keep in mind that after leaving, there is no re-entry into the festival and you need a valid ID to get in. “North Coast would be a better first festival to attend. There are not as many people and it doesn’t cover as much land as Lolla in the gigantic Grant Park,” junior Lynnea Njoya said. North Coast has a wide selection of over 20 local vendors and a wide-range of performers. Last year’s lineup included artists like Juice WRLD, DJ Snake and Miguel. “The environment of everyone just having fun, not judging each other and complete strangers giving you compliments left and right was a really awesome way to end the summer,” Njoya said. Country Thunder Country Thunder takes place in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin from July 18 through the 21st at Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. Front gate hours include the following: Wednesday through Sunday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Festival bowl hours: Thursday 1:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday through Sunday: 1 p.m. to 2 a.m. Payment plans are allowed before May 18. Tickets can also be upgraded after purchase if you call or visit the information booth at the festival. Campsites are available to purchase, but that does not include admission to the festival. Campsites and reserved seats can be renewed each year, and one vehicle pass permits two vehicles. Food and retail vendors are available to purchase. Bring lots of extra clothes in case of mud and rain as weather does not typically stop the show. There are three shower trailer locations near the front gate that cost seven dollars. “I regret not bringing more clothes for rainy weather and not enough shoes,” junior Emma Hockey said. Campers should also have plenty of water, ice and sunscreen. Country Thunder’s website includes a variety of options to purchase, including extras such as glamping and camping packages. Four-day admission costs $160 dollars and single day general admission costs $75 dollars. Past performances include: Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt and Toby Keith. This years performances include Jake Owen, Tim McGraw and Luke Combs. The best part about it was being in the sun and outside all day then going to the concert all night,” Hockey said. Lollapalooza

Living in the Chicago area, you’ve probably heard of Lollapalooza (Lolla), a festival that takes place in the beginning of August at Grant Park. It takes place August 1-4: 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. each day. The 2019 festival map is on the Lolla website and includes a vast amount of ticket options. 4-Day general admission tickets covers all four days of the festival and the entire lineup. Single day general admission covers for any day you pick. In addition, there are 4-Day Vip, platinum and insider tickets along with hotel packages. They have a food court, Chow town and served Chicago restaurants are represented. There are over 170 plus bands with eight stages from all over. It’s a great opportunity to support local business, meet friends in the crowds and take pictures at cool photogenic spots. “The best part about Lolla was being in the crowds and meeting all types of people. My favorite artist was Excision because HE OR THEY had the most energy and got the crowd dancing,” junior Oliva Lutter said. Lolla also raises awareness for environmental issues, which include minimizing waste and lowering the carbon footprint. The festival provides trash, compost and recycling bins. They also have offer organic, locally served meal options and alternatives to plastic silverware. Lolla also provides free water at hydration stations through the park. “I would suggest brining a hydro pack for water because it gets really hot throughout the day,” Lutter said. Spring Awakening Spring Awakening is a major outdoor electronic festival held at Addams-Medill Park in Chicago from June 7th through 9th. This year, Steve Aoki, Zedd, DJ Snake and Martin Garrix are just a few artists on the 2019 lineup. The festival is starting to become more popular and expand with new location, space, stages and new things to do. Festival goers can purchase tickets through SeeTickets.us. with options like General Admission and Vip. Food options are available at the festival, including parking but is expensive. However, there are free shuttles running from nearby Metra stops. Spring Awakening gives no refunds if bad weather occurs and no-entry back in. Some things to bring are camelback,
