playlist for an extreme occasion. silkroad ensemble
the intention is to adopt from music its stucture and translate it into physical form. the piece is identified as one of repetitiona and while each instrument obeys its rythmn, they all play in congruence. the rythmn and relative pitch of each of the four instruments is represented by each of the four sides of the cube. the resultant is a physical reiteration of the music, an organised amalgamation of in dividual repetitions.
t e s s a la t i o n identifying repetition as the coreof the music, The integrity of the basic module is represented as 2 of the same juxtaposed against each other. Each is then tessalated to emulate the continuity of the music. wa t e r Water here plays the role of the instruments, rifing on the structure of the 'music'. Emphasis is placed on the expression of internal circulation on the facade. Joints and openings offer an indication of the direction of flow
Butoh dance, a response to post war anguish and devastation serves as the protagonist for the folly. The folly acts as a tool for dialogue between history and present, where one experiences and journeys through with the mental state of a butoh dancer. One embarks on a jouney there the folly where paths split into 4 distinct spaces, each depriving one of each sense. The devoid of senses takes root from the principles of Butoh where one empties oneself to gain deeper appreciation of the existing.

Design Strategy: Adopting the principles of construction and zoning of local traditional houses, paired with performative keywords of Coiling & Locomotion which reflects the traits and rituals of the occupants. Potter & Geographer.

This is a project that requires the reiteration of the techniques of the grandmasters. Raumplan of Adolf Loos was placed as the centre of exploration. In - n - out reflects a dwelling of contrasting character Manipulation of materials and floor height creates varying degrees of privacy.

Derived from the site analysis is the design concept of kickstarting a greenlung in the area and also to celebrate the presence of selegie arts centre as a landmark in the midst of the conservation area by erecting the party walls that demarcate the demolished shophouse pedestrians are directed to enter a space that .used to exist in the past this neccesitates a conversation between the past and the present.

The design principle drives on the visual capacity of the individual, inspired by the diagram of extended field of vision by Herbert Bayer each opening between the walls is cautiously calibrated to guide the pedestrian deeperthe choice of a bakery with an open kitchen emulates the traditional practice of celebrating the kitchen in a typical shophouse layout.

Employing the rigidity of timber and malleability of aluminium sheets, the furniture seeks to support the weight of the user while providing comfort. Deliberate emphasis is placed on the construction de tails. Such as smoothening of straight-edged timber stips to increase comfort and flushing of nuts to achieve a slim finish.
