KPA Annual Meeting held in Topeka
KPA helps sponsor K-State Swine Profitability Conference
The KPA Annual Meeting was held February 19, 2007 in Topeka. KPA members adopted a new KPA Policy Handbook. This document will provide leadership and staff with direction on certain issues. To view the final document, visit the KPA web site or contact the KPA office for an electronic copy.
The Kansas Pork Association was again a sponsor of the Kansas State University Swine Profitability Conference held February 6, 2007, at the K-State Union. Dr. Robert Desrosiers, of Boehringer-Ingelheim of Canada, gave a lecture titled, “Current Understanding of the Transmission and Control of PCVAD.” Dr. Mike Brumm of Brumm Swine Consultancy also talked about “Troubleshooting Growing-Finishing Production.” Alan Haverkamp , (left) KPA Excecutive Board Member from Bern, talked on “How We’ve Grown Our AgriBusiness with the Help of Family and Friends.”

During lunch, Joy Philippi, (above)President of the National Pork Producers Council, from Bruning, Nebraska, provided an overview of national legislative issues.
Kent Condray, Clifton; Alan Haverkamp, Bern; and Ron Suther, Blaine, were elected to three-year terms on the KPA Executive Board. Michael Springer, Sycamore, was elected to fill a one-year vacancy on the Board.
KPA Executive Board Meeting held in Topeka
The Kansas Pork Association Executive Board also held a meeting on February 19, 2007. The group re-elected Pete Sherlock DVM, Washington, to serve as Chairman for 2007.

PRODUCERS HAVE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE ISSUES WITH LEGISLATURE
More than 50 Kansas Senators and Representatives attended the annual pork legislative reception held in the evening of February 19, 2007. This was a social event where KPA producers had the chance to talk to our state Senators and Representatives about issues pertaining to the pork industry as well as thank them for their year of service to the Kansas legislature.
