Kansas — Celebrating 50 Years as a State Pork Association
Kansas Pork Association’s 50th Anniversary Celebration followed K-State’s Annual Swine Industry Day
The Kansas Pork Association celebrated its 50th Anniversary at a reception following the 2006 Kansas State University Swine Industry Day held Nov. 16 at the K-State Alumni Center. As a lead into the celebration, Tim Stroda, President-CEO of the KPA, gave a presentation on “Fifty Years of Kansas Pork Leadership.” Eleven past chairmen of the board were present and shared a highlight from their year of service. More than 200 pork producers, allied industry members and guests attended the reception and were served ice cream and ice cream sandwiches from K-State’s Call Hall Dairy Bar. Attendees were also awarded a prize from the KPA in honor of the celebration. Some examples included the following: logoed aprons, umbrellas and knives.
Photos of the past chairmen were displayed throughout the room as well as past Pig Tales issues. A slideshow and pork queen scrapbook were also available to view. Thanks to all who helped the Kansas Pork Association celebrate this important milestone.
A reception featured memorabilia from the 50 years of a swine association in the state and time for producers to talk with old friends.
