KAPPA ALPHA ORDER EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION

B4B History The Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation’s Bid for Brotherhood (B4B) began in 1998 in Kansas City, Missouri. Started by then Knight Commander James R. Estes, B4B serves to combine an alumni event with a meaningful fundraising activity to establish an endowment for KA’s valuable leadership and educational programs. By providing a grant the Order annually, the costs associated with providing outstanding educational opportunities are minimal to our undergraduate members. The eventual goal is to have all of KA’s programs available to every undergraduate KA at zero cost to them. As of last year, the net income raised through B4B events has totaled $831,900. Each auction event continues to grow and it is our hope that this 20th annual B4B, held at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri will be our best yet. The listing to the right shows all of the previous B4B locations.

Shaping our Future – KAOEF’s Fund of Need Help us meet our $20,000 Goal! Not far from us tonight stands the Gateway Arch. This symbolic structure, the largest of its kind, memorializes the progression of American values and westward development of the United States. Just like the Arch, Kappa Alpha Order’s regional Province Council program represents our commitment to instill KA’s values, and to aid in the further development of our undergraduate brothers.

Each spring, thousands of KA undergraduates gather to attend these educational programs. From small group discussion, to large group facilitation, members are engaged for a day and a half. Through high impact training, these leaders and future leaders are empowered to challenge their chapters’ brothers to strive for excellence. Additionally, this leadership and values-based education provides valuable lessons our members will utilize throughout their entire lives.

Therefore, this year’s 20th annual Bid for Brotherhood “Fund of Need” goal is $20,000 for the KA Province Council program. Our hope is that those of you here tonight will step up to support this critical component of Kappa Alpha’s educational programming.
