B4B History

The Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation’s Bid for Brotherhood (B4B) began in 1998 in Kansas City, Missouri. Started by then Knight Commander James R. Estes, B4B serves to combine an alumni event with a meaningful fundraising activity to provide additional grant support for KA’s valuable leadership education programs. By providing a grant to the Order annually, the costs associated with providing outstanding educational opportunities are minimal to our undergraduate members. The eventual goal is to have all of KA’s programs available to every undergraduate KA at zero cost to them. Through 2022, the net income raised from B4B events has totaled more than $1,200,000. Each auction continues to grow and it is our hope that this 26th annual B4B, held at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida, will be our best yet.

8:00pm Shaping our Future - KAOEF’s Fund of Need

As we celebrate this evening with fun and fellowship, let us remember the incredible achievements of our undergraduate brothers of Kappa Alpha this year. Much of this success can be attributed to the strong leadership within our chapters. The training KA provides for chapter officers and leaders at values-based leadership conferences, such as our Officer Training Conferences (OTC) and our flagship event, the Number I’s Leadership Institute (NLI), is top-shelf and best-in-class education. Each of these programs instills KA’s values and aids in the further development of our undergraduate brothers.

In honor of this year’s 26th annual Bid for Brotherhood our “Fund of Need” goal is $30,000 for another of these outstanding programs, KA’s Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA). Our young brothers need your continued support tonight to ensure this critical component of Kappa Alpha’s educational programming is available to all who wish to attend. This program helps instill values and prepare our men to be future chapter leaders across the Order. KA remains committed to excellence and with your support KA will continue to achieve new heights and retain our position of excellence in the Greek world.
