Set on the sloped terrains with the picturesque view of the lofty ranges, the sole purpose of the project is to create a contemporary home overlooking the valley. The simplicity of the plan is accentuated by the symmetrical design as well as the centrally bound circulation of the home. Each space is designed in a manner that caters to the magnificent view of the milieu of the hills.
The double storey home parallels to the tall trees around . The finished, edgy look of the wooden panel projections on the facade paired with the concrete walls and large glass fenestrations become a paradox in the rawness of the hills .
BUS STOP.
In the suburbs of the city is located an island bus stop in a modest site of 20m by 20m. When viewed from far , it seems to be a solid cuboid but in reality it is a continuous flowing form with no edges and curves. Entirely built with local available wood.
The bus stop is vernacular in its design. being resistive to heat, the vertical bamboos hanging on the side expels the hot air to enter the bus stop and act as ventilator.
The rawness of the bus stop blends in well with the surrounding timberland of the suburbs
To make the waiting experience splendid and reposeful.
In the front facade of the vernacular island bus stop, located in the suburbs of the city, is the 'melodic bamboo' an interactive installation for the passengers. It is a large megaphone like structure with a number of bamboos suspended vertically at the bottom with a wide opening of bamboos at the top. It allows the passengers to speak through or sing into the vertical bamboos with their voice being enhanced when it comes out from the top. The hollowness and rawness of the bamboo adds the element of interaction to the installation as it makes any sound melodious. The installation also helps to expel out the hot air accumulated in the bus stop and let in cool air, unknowingly also acting as a ventilator.

The briefs required the participants to document a structure that exhibits a traditional knowledge system. The selected site, Sabali kund-vav, Gujarat, is a fusion of a stepped pond (kund) and a stepped well (vav). Built by Raja Bharmal in 1526, in memory of his queen Jivini, the form is an ingenious adaptation of a kund-vav. There are three walls of stairs like in a stepped pond and the fourth multi-storied wall of rooms at different level like in a stepped well. A legacy that is embedded in the very fabric of our traditions, awaits revival. It stood the tests of time endlessly because of its innate ability to adapt to the changing scenarios around it.
Discover yesterday, Centuries ago, came the concept of subterranean wells bringing together the two realms- Earth and Water. Unknowingly this idea offered an overarching solution to the prevailing water scarcity, by tapping the surface run off to replenish the water table. This ancient sustainable wisdom became a dying craft, at the hands of the capabilities of the new age technologies. The ingenuity systems are created when knowledge and experience join hands. So is the case when systems get together looking for energy
Imagine tomorrow, A day, when the sun rises in the west, the world is upside down. Now is the time when we need to realise that sometimes to go two steps ahead, we need to take four steps back, to cope with tomorrow's challenges, we need to relearn the lessons of our past. The future is uncertain, but by reviving our traditional knowledge systems we can attempt to lower the pace of this uncertainty Prepare us in advance for the doomsday. Because sometimes, the only way up is going down.
