Quang Cao BBA, International Business 2016 Blancco Ltd., Regional Manager of South East Asia Studying at Karelia UAS included many interesting subjects and conversations with other students coming around the world. During the time at the university I could apply some of the knowledge I learned on courses to practical projects. I could try real projects I would later start working with in my professional life. Therefore I was well-prepared when entering the working life. Furthermore, I got chance to interact with people from different cultures. It prepared me well for my current work as regional manager, because I operate in many countries with different cultures. Go for it! Karelia UAS offers a study place where you can meet with many good teachers and students. Karelia UAS will prepare you well for your future career.

Guidance by Counsellors and Student Tutors Throughout your studies you will be supported by our systematic and flexible counselling system which includes regular meetings with your teacher tutor, and the support of the study counsellor. In the beginning of your studies, you will be appointed with a student tutor who helps you to adjust to the new surroundings, settling in your study group and offering peer support and guidance.
Learn to know Finland with a Friend Family The Friend Family Activity is meant for international students who want to get to know Finnish families, culture and everyday life and practice their Finnish language skills. It works both ways: the students who want to take part are encouraged to introduce their own culture while they spend some time with their Finnish friend or family.

Suvi Hassinen BBA, International Business 2015 Hassisen Veljekset Oy (HAVEL), CEO In my work, my areas of responsibility are marketing and development. I take care that everything in the marketing, production and other areas are on track and everyone has the prerequisites to do the job. It is my responsibility to keep track of the development efforts being made, and as a managing director, my job is to be the facilitator and motivator of the company. During International Business studies I got a good theoretical basis for my job, which gave me a good starting point for my career and professional skills. Our studies covered a wide range of business sectors; This is beneficial to the CEO of a small business, who has to master the business areas as a whole. I learned to think about business from many perspectives, such as economical, strategical, as well as from a marketing perspective. Studying in English also gave me a very solid foundation for using the language and courage to speak it. Many projects during the studies have taught me teamwork, which is important in all interaction and leadership. My exchange in Germany was a great experience, as I learned different learning styles and the culture of the other country. I definitely recommend that you take an exchange period for studies or training abroad! Marketing and strategic planning were the most useful studies for my professional life. I hope that I can deepen my knowledge I have learned both at Karelia UAS and work-life. I continue studying on various training courses and later possibly also in professional master’s studies. In my opinion, further training will provide good support for professional growth. I hope my work for our company will affect positively on people around me, and that my own attitude towards life will inspire others. This applies to encouraging my family members in my private life, as well as to maintaining our employees’ motivation and well-being at work.

Why study in Finland?
Finland is located in northern Europe between our neighbours Sweden, Norway and Russia. Finland is unique for its mentality of seeking practical solutions or turning potential setbacks into steps forward. Finns are strong believers in equality and education. Finnish higher education system is one of the best in the world with great international connections and low hierarchies. Studying in Finland is not just about the studies. It is a chance to make friends, build networks, and experience something new. Finland is a safe country where things work and nature is always close by. English is our third, unofficial language.
