MODULE 2: DESIGN

DESIGN HEATHERWICK/ TED TALK In Thomas Heatherwick’s presentation, he discussed how texture, landscape, lighting, surrounding and communication of a person influences the creation of spatial effects. Fot instance, the simple bridge in London. Although it may have seen to be a commonly built structure, the way it detaches from the other side of the platform is unique and different from any other bridges. Most bridges as Heatherwick explained, breaks off into two and for some people, this may seem extraordinary. But breaking something connotes pain and disaster. With these thoughts, Heatherwick was able to make a decision to change the effects of a breaking bridge by folding or curling up the whole bridge
DIGITIZING
Perspective View
After analyzing the reviews done in Module 1, I have changed the clay model design to one that correlates with my recipe. In the clay model, it shows layering and extrusion towards the center that can also be seen in the emerging form paper model. Thinking of my lantern, I have formed this model to show a layering light effect as the light starts from the base of every layer. Using Rhino ans some contouring methods, I have digitized the clay model.
