GYMNASTICS Gymnastics is a sport involving the performance of exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, endurance and control. The movements involved in gymnastics contribute to the development of the arms, legs, shoulders, chest and abdominal muscle groups. Alertness, precision, daring, self-confidence and selfdiscipline are mental traits that can also be developed through gymnastics. Gymnastics evolved from exercises used by the ancient Greeks that included skills for mounting and dismounting a horse, and from circus performance skills. Most forms of competitive gymnastics events are governed by the FĂŠdĂŠration Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG). Each country has its own national governing body (BIW) affiliated to FIG. Competitive artistic gymnastics is the best known of the gymnastic events. It typically involves the women's events of vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercise. Men's events are floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.
FIGURE SKATING Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, duos, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport included in the Olympics, in 1908.The four Olympic disciplines are men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating and ice dancing. Non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating and four skating. From novice through seniorlevel competition, skaters generally perform two programs (short and long) which, depending on the discipline, may include spins, jumps, moves in the field, lifts, throw jumps, death spirals and other elements or moves. Figure skaters compete at various levels from beginner up to the Olympic level (senior) at local, regional, national, and international competitions. The International Skating Union (ISU) regulates international figure skating judging and competitions. These include the Winter Olympics, the World Championships, the World Junior Championships, the European Championships, the Four Continents Championships, and the Grand Prix series (senior and junior).
POLE DANCE FITNESS SPORT The mid 2000s, promoters of pole dance fitness competitions have been trying to change peoples’ perception of pole dance and to promote it as a non-sexual form of dance and acrobatics, and are on track to move pole into the Olympics. Pole dance requires significant strength, flexibility and endurance. Pole dance proper involves athletic moves such as climbs, spins, and body inversions using the body to grip. Upper body and core strength are required to attain proficiency, proper instruction, and rigorous training is necessary. Pole dance is regarded as a form of exercise which can be used as both an aerobic and anaerobic workout. Recognized schools and qualifications are now commonplace. The use of pole for sports and exercise has been traced back at least eight hundred years to the traditional Indian sport of mallakhamb, which utilizes principles of endurance and strength using a wooden pole, wider in diameter than a modern standard pole. The Chinese pole, originating in India, uses two poles on which men would perform “gravity defying tricks as they leap from pole to pole, at approximately twenty feet in the air, further information can be seen in the old vintage documentary series of mallakhamb, by yasho purush film on YouTube. K.T. Coates, a famed competitive pole dancer, and the International Pole Sport Federation, are currently promoting a campaign to include competitive pole dance in the Olympics and an application was made to the International Olympic Committee to recognise pole as a sport in September 2016.
Numerous competitions exist, including the World Pole Sport Championship, U.S. Pole Federation Championship, Pole Art, Miss Pole Dance America, and the International Pole Masters Cup Championship.
NASTIA LIUKIN Anastasia Valeryevna "Nastia" Liukin (Russian: Анастасия "Настя" Валерьевна Люкина; born October 30, 1989) is a Russian American retired artistic gymnast. She is the 2008 Olympic individual all-around champion, the 2005 and 2007 world champion on the balance beam, and the 2005 world champion on the uneven bars. With nine World Championships medals, seven of them individual, Liukin is tied with Shannon Miller for the third-highest tally of World Championship medals (among U.S. gymnasts). Liukin also tied Miller's record as the American gymnast having won the most medals in a single non-boycotted Olympic Games. Liukin was a key member of the U.S. senior team. She represented the United States at three World Championships and one Olympic Games. In October 2011, Liukin announced that she was returning to gymnastics with the hopes of making a second Olympic team. Liukin did not make the 2012 Olympic team, after several falls at the Olympic Trials and other pre-Olympic events, and retired from the sport in 2012.

FOOTBALL IN EL SALVADOR Personally I don’t know anything about football, nationally or internationally, is not a sport than I’m a fan of. I don’t know anything either about the national team of El Salvador either; therefore I can’t give an opinion about it. The only thing I can say in general is that if a training is not working for any kind of sports it’s necessary to review the process, the techniques and of course the trainer and see what needs to be change. Sometimes this can include not just the trainer but also the players or the athletes. I think that there is a lot of talented people in El Salvador for football and even though they are not professionals but they have a natural ability and they could use an opportunity.
SPORTS LIFE IN EL SALVADOR Salvadorians hardly have an active life in any kind of sports. And the few options available hardly have any support from the government or any other entity. This doesn’t mean that we don’t have talented people, we do have it and I think in every single sport, but they don’t have the right tools to achieve their dreams. This comes from the family; parents don’t give the right importance to develop their children artistic and sportive skills. Usually parents are more concern with studies and this is a good thing however a complete human has different areas in life not just studying. Practicing a sport is very helpful in many ways, it helps to develop character, discipline, passion, strength, mental agility and many times it can open the door for a scholarship. However this is not easy to achieve, it requires, time, money and motivation. Now a day’s people simply want whatever is easy and chip. Whatever takes hard work seems to create an allergy on people. I think that if we all show more interest in having a complete and full life in every area, sports future in El Salvador could improve and have the chance to compete with the bests, and the way we can do this is by starting to support our kids in all their talents and skills.
