Perhaps the greatest country music super group in history, The Highwaymen traveled the world performing country music to millions of fans. Now, “The Highwaymen Live: A Musical Tribute” is allowing fans to relive the worldwide sensation of “outlaw” country’s three biggest stars – Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings – joining forces on one stage. This 90-minute show is full of honkytonk hits like “Ring of Fire,” “Theme from the Dukes of Hazard,” “On the Road Again,” “Whiskey River,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” and “Good Hearted Woman.” Fans will watch in amazement as one hit after another is sung just as if the original band were performing.
THE HIGHWAYMEN LIVE ARE: Michael Moore as Willie Nelson Michael Moore was born and raised in McKinney, Tex. His passion for Willie Nelson’s music came at an early age. “I can remember hearing his music coming out of my grandmother’s old AM radio,” he said. And even then, Michael knew that there was something unique about Willie Nelson. Nelson’s voice and unusual style of phrasing are hard to match. Through many years of study and about a million “Whiskey Rivers” later, Moore’s ability to capture the country music legend’s voice and style are considered by many to be the best in the world. Michael is also an accomplished guitar player and performs all of the guitar parts played by Nelson in his shows. When asked what kind of music he likes, Moore said, “Everything from The Carpenters to Metallica.” Michael has performed his Nelson tribute show throughout the U.S. as a solo artist and also with several top tribute shows.
Bob Gill as Waylon Jennings Bob Gill has been singing since his pre-school years and has performed in a varied styles – from a one-man show incorporating the use of floor bass, guitar and beat box to a six-piece cover country band. He has performed in Nashville and other venues across North America, attracting growing audiences along the way. He has several albums to his credit and became interested in Waylon Jennings’ music when he first heard him in the early 1970s. Since then, has amassed a repertoire of most of the songs ever recorded by Jennings. During his travels, Gill increasingly became compared to Wayon in both appearance and vocal style. Since Jennings’ untimely death in 2002, Gill has had an inner desire (and destiny) to focus exclusively on preserving for eternity the music of his idol.
Philip Bauer as Johnny Cash Entertaining people is all Philip Bauer ever wanted to do. His dynamic stage presence, quality and impressive vocal range has been thrilling audiences for many years. Bauer started his musical path in Minneapolis, Minn. where he started thrilling audiences with his quality performances and competing in and winning many talent contests. He sang with various cover bands through-out the nineties. In 1996, Bauer auditioned and was immediately asked to perform on the “Charlie Daniels Talent Round Up” on TNN. In 1997, he left the stage with a Standing Ovation as the warm up act for superstar Leann Rimes. In 1998, he moved to Branson, Mo., where he performed to capacity crowds at the Hard Luck Diner.
