Profile in Style
Donald Judd installation, Marfa. It’s Minimalism at its best. I love how one angle leads to another in his work, and the mixture of materials.
Braun hair dryer, Dieter Rams, 1964. This inspired my Fleur Mécanique scent diffuser. It was something my mother had. You can hold it in your hand, and by magic, it blows an enormous amount of air.
FM travel spray. I modeled the packaging after a Braun lighter. Steven Holl watercolor. He made wooden sculptures that function like bookshelves and play with sunlight for the West Village boutique.
Frédéric Malle West Village boutique. I wanted a bookshelf for the product, but I told Steve it could take any shape he wanted.
Book design. The boxes for the perfumes and the logos on our bags are very influenced by antique Bauhaus-y book covers and fonts.
The architecture of Luis Barragán. He’s an example of someone who puts colors together in a way that’s always surprising and never goes out of fashion.
The Brion Cemetery propylaeum by Carlo Scarpa. I love the sensuality and the fact that one wants to touch the surfaces of the building. Personal photo. I have so many images in my head, but I was drawn to these very different objects in the same context.

The new Fleur Mécanique. It works like a radio but instead of music, it diffuses a room with scent. You refill it like an espresso machine.
