lana del rey Considering your female audience, do you feel any pressure to be a role model? Lana: Well I think the good thing is, I do actually aim to live my life with grace and dignity. I really don’t like to be in trouble. I like to live a good life, it is important to me. At a certain point, though, doesn’t your act become performance art? Lana: Well it’s kind of become that. When the audience gets bigger, it becomes less for you and more of a performance, even though I’m not really a natural performer. Speaking of, are you working on any new music right now? Lana: I was until my record got leaked last week, ‘cause my life is like completely invaded. But yeah, I’m writing songs that I really like right now.
005
Are you going to move forward, or do you feel too discouraged because of the leaks?
You could work with outside songwriters. Are you open to that kind of thing a bit more now?
Lana: I do feel discouraged, yeah. I don’t really know what to put on the record. But I guess I could just put them on and see what happens.
Lana: Yeah, I’m more open to it now, ‘cause person ally I’m not really feeling it. (Laughs) Like this guy I worked with eight years ago, Steven
That’s a lot of pressure to put on yourself. how do you handle it? Lana: That’s the way I kind of do it, which means I don’t write all ing. Sometimes it’s six months. cord He knew me really well.
Did you write “Young and Beautiful” specifically for The Great Gatsby soundtrack, or was that a song you had previously penned but not released? Lana: I wrote a different song, but when Baz Luhrmann heard it, he asked me if I could I write a memory cue for Daisy. So I sang him a chorus of “Young and Beautiful” that I had al ready — just a chorus — and he thought that’d be good for her.

NEW
The new album will feature eight brand new recordings. A Deluxe Edition of XSCAPE will include a selection of the recordings in their original form. The title of this album honors Michael’s album naming process. He always chose a song from the album to name his projects and, beginning with THRILLER, used only one word titles, each with an edgy quality to them. This is true of the new project.

ALBUMS
Just three years after the Black Keys released their heavily worn platinum album El Camino, the band is back with their newest record Turn Blue. In true Black Keys fashion, the album offers plenty of gritty blues and self-indulgent guitar solos, but with a refreshingly genuine approach. Released on May 12, 2014 under Nonesuch Records, the unique collection is already winning critics over.
Glorious is the debut studio al bum by English singer and song writer Foxes, due for release on 28 February 2014. The album is available in three versions; the standard album, a deluxe ver sion, and a limited edition vinyl. The track list features new songs, as well as two Warrior (2012) (“In Her Arms” and “White Coats”). Very reco mended, especially for the girls.
Monkeys. It was produced by James Ford and co-produced by Ross Orton at Sage & Sound Recording in Los Angeles and Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, California, and released in September 2013 through Domino. The album was promoted by the singles: “R U Mine?”, “Do I Wanna Know?”, “Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High?”, “One for the Road” and “Snap Out of It”. It features guest appearances by Josh Homme, Bill Ryder-Jones and Pete Thomas. The album received critical acclaim from music critics and fea tured in many end of year lists as one of the best of 2013. The album draws inspiration from various musical genres, including psychedelic rock, blues rock, hard rock, heavy metal, desert rock.

michael jackson is alive
The Michael Jackson performance on the 2014 Billboard Music Awards was the result of ment of new technology. Producers of the Billboard Music Awards did not see even a por-
16 dancers live onstage. Jackson appeared in gold jacket, white T-shirt and brick red trousers on a set modeled on the art work for the album “Dangerous,” an appropriate choice as the track was recorded in 1991 with L.A. Reid and Babyface during the sessions for that album. Released this week on “XSCAPE,” which is neck-and-neck with the new Black Keys album for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week, the track was produced by Timbaland. BBMA producers built a special stage at the rear of the MGM Grand Arena that was used only for the Jackson performance. Dancers moved through aisles as Jackson was seen rising from a throne, walking down steps before going into several trademark routines, a moonwalk being one of the them.

BEST SHOW EVER So, yeah, the 2014 Billboard Music Awards happened (May 18). And the show was eventful, to say the least—full of moments that made the audience applaud, clamor and maybe even upset. Following an introduction from her muse Nicki Minaj, Lorde took the stage ready to dazzle. Decked out in black, the 17-year-old songstress brought life to the electro-goth track “Tennis Court,” ooz
