THE INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM INDUSTRIES NEED SPECIFICALLY SKILLED PEOPLE In the coming years, international hotel groups or chains will have to meet huge challenges: hotels and their chains will continue to multiply throughout the world, and their needs in operational and senior management with the know-how to work in a multicultural environment will increase. They are looking for new graduates who already know the ropes of the hospitality industry, who are able to defend a business plan in a board meeting, to manage their teams whatever nationality and culture they have, to manage long-term projects, to manage their company while taking into account its financial, human, and competitive market environment, wherever they may be working in the world. They are looking for experienced and responsible managers, with knowledge not only acquired in business schools, but also with know-how and essential life skills that characterize and are all so necessary in the international hospitality and tourism industries.

VATEL GRADUATES ARE QUALIFIED TO WORK IN THE LUXURY SECTOR, NOT JUST IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM The luxury market needs employees with the qualities of our alumni - the ability to welcome people, to listen to them, a natural elegance - the combination of their knowledge in administration, finance, human resources, and marketing make Vatel graduates qualified to work in luxury market in Europe or abroad. Luxury brands, which are opening more and more shops in big cities around the world, are extremely aware of their managerial and inter-cultural qualities.

Deciding to spend a whole school year far from home, in another country and on a different campus, is a decision not to be taken lightly. It’s only after having thought a lot about this that we accept leave our comfort zones and habits. What is reassuring at Vatel, is that we know we’re going to find the same educational philosophy and the same courses, that are applied to a different cultural and professional environment. That’s what helped me leave my little island to go to France, and Lyon in particular, where the Group’s head office is located. I arrived in France a month before courses started to get my year organized and become familiar with the city. It didn’t take me long to find the right balance between work, sports, leisure activities, and my daily work, even though for the first time, I had to manage my “very own home” for the first time. Based on this rhythm, I decided to do my very best in class, and I succeeded in coming second in my class. Spending this year in Lyon allowed me to discover a whole new world of hotel guests, other than those who vacation at Mauritius resorts: I went from long term stays to businessmen who stayed only a night or two. I came back to Mauritius better prepared for my second internship that I did in the Communication department in the Bel Ombre Heritage Resorts Hotel.”

BRUSSELS

Attending Vatel Kazan was an opportunity for me to have courses in hotel management given by the very best people in this field. I didn’t hesitate at all when I had the opportunity of spending my second year in one of the Group’s four Schools in France, and I chose Vatel Bordeaux to find out more about this very specific French art of hospitality that the whole world envies. As soon as I arrived, I was able to experience it: both staff members and students put me at ease as of my first day and the only hard thing for me was my French language classes. But I progressed really quickly by going to the movies for example with my friends and always speaking French with them. I hope that I was able to give all of those who hosted me so well all of my enthusiasm and my daily cheerfulness. Here I’m thinking in particular about the guests and staff members at the Front Desk of the All Suites Appart Hotel in Bordeaux where I spent several months of my internship. I came back to Russia with much better linguistic skills, and better operational and managerial experience and knowhow and I’m really sure that I want to do my career in the international hospitality industry.”

• Home School : Vatel Nimes (France) > Host School : Vatel Buenos Aires (Argentina)

All international Hospitality specialists say the same thing: in our line of work, you have to be curious, determined, and speak as many languages as possible. Going to the Vatel Buenos Aires Campus in my second year allowed me to hone these three skills, as well as expanding my personal experience. Of course, at the beginning, I was a bit lost, because this is a big city, with a population of 15 million, a different culture and the Argentinian accent when speaking Spanish, but the School was there to help me out and my classmates also did everything possible so I would get this most out of this. I became more mature, with a more open mind, more proactivity, and increased work stamina. This is what helped me gain additional responsibilities in the internship I did in Uruguay, near Punta del Este, a Latin American luxury seaside resort. Hotel guests were mostly American, and this also helped me make a lot of progress in English, while experiencing another type of management, which was more Anglo-Saxon. I came back to Vatel Nimes for my third year, but also with job offers in Argentinia and in Uruguay. For the meanwhile, I haven’t decided what I’m going to do, but I’m sure of one thing - this Marco Polo experience brought me one step closer to becoming an executive in hotel management.”

OPT FOR A PROFESSIONALLY BASED EDUCATION, WITH VALIDATED INTERCULTURAL TRAINING, RECOGNIZED BY PROFESSIONALS IN THE FIELD

OUR TEACHING CONCEPT HAS ITS ROOTS IN REALITIES OF THE PROFESSION Training operational managers and senior executives in the international hospitality industry, who are able to work in a competitive and cosmopolitan environment is of course based on business studies: marketing, human resources, administration and finance. But that’s not all! At Vatel we believe that a complete education requires a reality check on the professional field. This teaching principle of one of the reasons why a Vatel degree is so highly valued on the job market. In practical terms, this means that there is: > Hands-on training in the application infrastructures, fully integrated into the Vatel schools. These application hotels or restaurants, catering to real customers, are concrete and operational training venues. > First hand managerial experience i.e. senior students manage the junior students. > Professionals recognized in their field participate in teaching. > Designing of a career plan of each student.

INTERNSHIPS CONSOLIDATE LEARNING From the very first year, students start the practical training in the application structures, so as to confront the realities of the hospitality profession later on. Internships allow them to apply their know-how and hospitality skills, to have a true experience of working as part of a team, and to try and test the environment they will be working in, in the future. Professional immersion equals solid work experience, even before students enter the workforce. Carefully selected by Vatel, these internships take place in 3 to 5 star hotels.

CHOOSE A COURSE BASED ON KNOWLEDGE, KNOW-HOW, ESSENTIAL LIFE SKILLS, WITH AN OPEN AND FLEXIBLE CURRICULUM INITIATION TO MANAGEMENT ALWAYS INCLUDES THEORY AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE The Vatel curriculum, a 5 year program, builds momentum for students in management. 1st year: Students are introduced to marketing, human resources, administration and professional culture, and become seasoned to catering, culinary production techniques, and banquet constraints, unexpected events in receptions or seminars, while remaining at school. 2nd year: While continuing to enhance theoretical knowledge with the introduction of courses such as Business Law and Tourism Economics, students gradually gain managerial experience: in real situations. They manage 1st year students, while being managed themselves by 3rd year students. They gain selfconfidence while becoming aware of the hierarchy in a business. 3rd year: Students now have legal, economic and linguistic capacities, and are ready to manage teams at school. This year is aimed at developing analytical capacities using the wealth of knowledge gained, devising strategies and the decision-making process.

Business Game includes all 5th year Vatel students. Each team is responsible for managing three companies which belong to the same group: Vatel Holding, Vatel City and Vatel Resort. Students, in real time, must take commercial, financial, and technical and personnel based decisions. When the game is over, the winning team, called the Vatel Dream Team of the Year, is the one which was able to make the best strategical choices, thus accumulating the most points. And what do students have to say about this? “Two of my classmates and I were in charge of the Holding company. We used all of our knowledge and skills in Finance, Human Resources and Marketing.” François Misson, 2013.

CERTIFIED STATE DEGREES WITH VATEL Both Vatel undergraduate and postgraduate cycles have a degree recognized by the National Repertory of Professional Certifications in Europe. This certification was determined according to the following criteria: • A detailed description written by professionals concerning the duties of Managers as well as the function of International Hotel Manager; • The description of skills, aptitudes and knowledge associated with this function; • A list of jobs held and their level by at least three preceding classes.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT WHILE USING AN ANALYTICAL SPIRIT, RESEARCH AND CREATIVITY 4th year: Students now have all the basics, a professional culture, and are ready to devote themselves to analytical methods and the managerial decision-making process. 5th year: Acquiring knowledge about strategic decisions and practical case studies in all different kinds of companies help students know how to apply this knowledge concretely to management in the hospitality and tourism industries.

MBA VATEL SPECIALIZATIONS INTERNATIONAL HOTEL MANAGEMENT This M5 program was set up several years ago in order to meet expectations in the International Hospitality Industry, a competitive and structured field that includes many large international groups constantly seeking senior executives who are apt to meet their requirements. This program not only prepares students to work as true “Orchestra Conductors” who perfectly understand all the mechanics going into a company in Hospitality, but also teaches them how to manage in a complex, international and global framework. LUXURY BRAND MANAGEMENT PARIS (FRANCE) > COURSES IN FRENCH Luxury Brand Management is becoming increasingly complex as time goes by, though it remains an extremely buoyant economic sector. This profession is looking for recent graduates, who are attracted by this demanding universe, where know-how and people-oriented skills are key components to success. The Luxury Brand Management specialization trains future managers who will be ready to take over complete departments, who will be in charge of pathbreaking services, exclusive products and profitable markets for key clients and the privileged few in this area of the Hospitality Industry. Taking this into account, the M5 year studies current and future trends, and of course does not neglect international management strategies. REVENUE MANAGEMENT LYON (FRANCE) > COURSES IN FRENCH Revenue Management and strategies included in this function are very important in hospitality and tourism industry. The goal is to optimize turnover and profitability by working on different leverage effects, which require strategy and tactical skills. Revenue Managers must have extensive knowledge of the market, client segments, the hotel’s marketing mix, distribution, as well as being extremely proactive. EVENTS MANAGEMENT NIMES (FRANCE) > COURSES IN FRENCH The Events Management specialization targets students who are extremely motivated by communication and marketing, who are able not only to be creative, but also to do precise and exacting work when managing a team. They will acquire knowledge in management, finance, marketing and human resources in order to analyze and propose a product that is perfectly in line with the event taking place. SALES & E-MARKETING MANAGEMENT BRUSSELS (BELGIUM) > COURSES IN ENGLISH In the past ten years, changes in new technologies have impacted consumers’ purchasing habits as well as the way they see brands. The hospitality and tourism fields are no exception to this rule and hotel and tourism managers have to take another look at their marketing strategies, brand name targets and distribution of their products and services through today’s new medias. This specialization allows students to pinpoint and adapt to current trends, to anticipate new ones using different themes: e-marketing, negotiations and promotional announcements, new media management and social networking... applied not only to the hospitality industry but also to tourism. ENTREPRENEURIAL MANAGEMENT MARRAKESH (MOROCCO) > COURSES IN FRENCH AND IN ENGLISH The Entrepreneurial Management specialization trains professionals who understand issues linked to the entrepreneurial spirit in the Tourism and Hospitality field, who make the right decisions to ensure their competitive advantage in the marketplace. It includes the concept of corporate environment, identification of opportunities to be taken and threats to be avoided. It teaches how to spot strong points in a company that must be consolidated as well as weak points that must be improved, how to detect the right solutions to weather an economic storm or a slump in activity. It teaches students how to manage a team that will get the required work done within a given deadline, how to create, launch or take over an activity in the Hospitality Industry.

INTERNATIONAL WINE & SPIRITS MANAGEMENT BORDEAUX (FRANCE) > COURSES IN ENGLISH The International Wine & Spirits Management specialization targets students aiming to work in senior management in hotels and gourmet restaurants, where a great wine list can really make a difference, as well as those who want to work in wine and spirits management, without forgetting those who want to complete their knowledge for personal reasons. This specialization is divided into four main axes: • Technical knowledge of wine and spirits: oenology courses leading to levels 2 and 3 of the WSET diploma (Wine and Spirit Educational Trust diploma) • Wine-related management activities: sales and marketing for wines and spirits, supplychain management, procurement, wine tourism, strategic and financial analysis, innovation and IT system management and entrepreneurship • Strong relationships with professional fields: technical and managerial workshops, professional tours of vineyards, visits to wine merchants and specialized boutiques are also included in this specialization • High level research experts and professional instructors, most of whom are of Anglo-Saxon origin AMERICAN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT AND INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS LOS ANGELES (USA) > COURSES IN ENGLISH The American Hospitality Management and International Business specialization teaches students the Anglo-Saxon management methods that are driven by results and understanding of new technologies. It gives them the tools that are required for a career as an international leader in the Hospitality industry anywhere in the world. This program was designed in a way that allows students to think out-of-the-box and become decision-makers: leadership and entrepreneurship, business management, strategic marketing, new trends in the Hospitality industry, etc. RESORT MANAGEMENT MAURITIUS > COURSES IN FRENCH AND IN ENGLISH The Resort Management specialization trains senior executives in the international hospitality industry to work in companies that include, outside of traditional hotels and restaurants: spas, golf courses, leisure activities, theme parks, etc. Managing a resort means understanding and controlling a highly complex organization whose constraints are often heightened by its location (in a desert, a savanna, on an island, in the heart of a big city, etc.). This specialization teaches students to understand operational, financial and strategic logic pertaining to each type of entity. They will be required to work in a “hands-on” way for marketing or human resource missions with professional partners. TALENT DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT MARTIGNY (SWITZERLAND) > COURSES IN FRENCH OR IN ENGLISH The Talent Development Management specialization tackles challenges that the hospitality and tourism management fields will face in the near future. Getting the best from your employees, changing individual problems into group strengths, adapting your managerial style to different people and situations are just a few of the key areas that this specialization covers, with the goal of enhancing customer satisfaction and thus financial success for hotels and restaurants.

LONDON United Kingdom The Group will open its 31st School in the world and seventh in Europe, in London, in September 2016. From Piccadilly Circus to Carnaby Street, the Beatles to the Rolling Stones, from Jamie Oliver to Gordon Ramsay, London is a legendary city. The capital of the United Kingdom, this very cosmopolitan and insular city never stops. It hovers between never-ending modernity and being a nursery for new trends, including culinary ones with the Gastropub! The world’s leading financial hub, around 27 million tourists visit it each year, and it has four sites that are on the Unesco World Heritage list. London is also the home to many universities and business schools. It has over 400,000 students, many of whom come from the continent to continue their studies while perfecting their English. Vatel Group has been present for many years in England. Many Vatel students do their internships here and Vateliens work in some of the most prestigious hotels in London. They are a part of the priceless network for Vatel London, where students with two or three years of studies after high school can prepare the MBA Vatel right in the capital city. Academic courses are of course given in English as well as intensive practical application courses in compliance with Vatel’s curriculum in all of its schools throughout the world.

CHOOSE VATEL, THE 1ST WORLDWIDE BUSINESS SCHOOL GROUP IN HOSPITALITY & TOURISM MANAGEMENT

BECAUSE OF ITS PROFESSIONEL AND PERSONALIZED TRAINING In a global and highly competitive economy, just having a degree is no longer enough. Recent Vatel graduates are preferred over others for their human and professional qualities.

BECAUSE OF ITS VALUES OF RESPONSIBILITY AND SOLIDARITY The Vatel spirit takes its roots in values shared by the teaching team and students: at Vatel, everyone has rights but also responsibilities, but all are empowered to participate in the professional success of the future Vatel graduate.

BECAUSE OF THE COMMITMENT OF ITS TEACHING STAFF University professors, consultants, or professionals still working in their field, all have been carefully selected by Vatel because they are benchmarks in their specialty, and commit themselves to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and professional experience.

BECAUSE OF ITS DOWN TO EARTH MANAGEMENT APPLICATIONS The restaurant and/or application hotel, integrated into the Vatel School, has real customers and everyday situations. This translates into ideal conditions for students to be confronted with professional problems and acquire managerial reflexes.

BECAUSE OF THE MARCO POLO EXCHANGE PROGRAM Candidates, while continuing their studies in Vatel are immersed in a different culture, a different language, become more open-minded towards others, and are better prepared to have an international career.

BECAUSE OF ITS INTERNSHIP DEPARTMENT, LEVERAGING OFFERS In Vatel, doing internships is in complete compliance with training programs. Each year Schools propose an internship to students that meet their levels and objectives for the future. The end of the schooling internship is devoted to each student’s individual career plan. It’s reassuring to know that you can count on the Internships department.

BECAUSE OF ITS CANDIDATE FRIENDLY AND TRANSPARENT INFORMATION Students, before enrolling in a Vatel School, are fully informed about demandes of this field, all tuition costs, and obligations they have towards their school. Thus attending a Vatel School is an informed and deliberate decision.

BECAUSE OF ITS INNOVATIONS In the annual International Convention, all Vatel School Directors are able to meet to discuss teaching innovations in their schools. The best of these innovations are then integrated into Vatel teaching programs.

VATEL SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD

23

BECAUSE OF ITS INVOLVEMENT WITH PROFESSIONALS The global lodging forum, in which the top decision-makers in the hospitality industry participate, is truly a laboratory of forward looking thinking. Vatel takes part in this forum to be able to propose training corresponding to evolution in the profession.

BECAUSE OF ITS APPLIED RESEARCH CENTER The Cirvath (Vatel International Research Center in Tourism and Hospitality) is a research center where Vatel professors anticipate and even contribute to the evolution of the global tourism and the hospitality industry. Students thus take advantage of this throughout their schooling.

BECAUSE OF THE INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH OF ITS SCHOOLS From Bangkok to Buenos aires, without forgetting Moscow, Montreal or Vietnam, all Vatel Schools share the same willingness and mind-set: the success of all Vateliens. “International” is truly defined in the Vatel Group.

BECAUSE OF ITS 29,000 ALUMNI, A NETWORK YOU CAN COUNT ON Each and everyone of the 7,000 students, wherever his or her host School may be located, can count on everyone in the Vatel Group and on its 29,000 alumni who work in the most beautiful hotels on earth. This network is stronger than any other to help you find the job that matches your dreams and your ambitions.

BECAUSE OF THE SUSTAINED AND CONTINUOUS DEVELOPMENT OF THE GROUP Since 35 years, Vatel has been opening new Schools. Even the most recent Schools enjoy the foundations that only a long experience can give. The older Schools benefit from innovations put in place in at each new establishment.
