Puerto Banús , Marbella

El Puerto José Banús, más conocido como Puerto Banús, es un puerto deportivo de gran lujo, situado en la urbanización Nueva Andalucía, entre Marbella y San Pedro Alcántara, en la provincia de Málaga, España. Este enclave turístico se ha convertido, desde que fue inaugurado en mayo de 1970, en uno de los mayores centros de entretenimiento de la Costa del Sol, alcanzando fama internacional. El arquitecto Noldi Schreck, el cual participó en el diseño y construcción 6

de Beverly Hills, fue visitado en 1966 por el príncipe Alfonso de Hohenlohe, para pedirle que hiciera el Beach Club del Hotel Marbella Club. Su primer trabajo sirvió para conocer a José Banús y convencerle de que Puerto Banús no era un lugar adecuado para construir enormes rascacielos. Propuso hacer un pueblo andaluz con marina, el primer puerto hecho por un solo arquitecto. Juntos consiguieron darle el toque de sofisticación que alcanzó Puerto Banús. José Banús se convirtió en el promotor más importante de complejos de turismo

residencial de la Costa del Sol y el puerto tomó su nombre. El fastuoso complejo tuvo su apertura en mayo de 1970. Asistieron, entre otros, los Príncipe de España Juan Carlos y Sofía de Grecia, los Príncipes de Mónaco Rainiero y Grace Kelly, el Aga Khan, el director de cine Roman Polanski, el fundador de Playboy Hugh Hefner y el doctor Christian Barnard, pionero en el trasplante de corazón. Un joven Julio Iglesias fue contratado para amenizar la gala.

Puerto José Banús, better known as Puerto Banús, is a marina of great luxury, situated in the Nueva Andalucía urbanisation, between Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara, in the province of Málaga, Spain. This tourism enclave has become, since its inauguration in May 1970, one of the most important leisure resorts on the Costa del Sol, achieving fame internationally. The architect, Noldi Shreck, who participated in the design and construction of Beverly Hills, was visited in 1966 by Prince Alfonso de Hohenlohe, to request that he design the 8

Ángel Asenjo, Playas del Duque architect, in his approach to the project, has maintained respect for the environment of the Complex, such that both the design and the materials employed are the most appropriate, opting for Mediterranean style architecture, without renouncing modernity. In addition, an environmental analysis had been implemented, so as to provide for maximum protection of the environment and harmonisation with the surroundings. We stand out for our commitment to the client, to whom we provide the best of attention from the moment they enter one of our sales offices, up until our all-embracing after-sales service. TORNEO DE GOLF JÓVENES PROMESAS POR ALEJANDRO OCAÑA

Playas del Duque con el Golf Éste pasado verano se ha celebrado el segundo torneo de golf “Jóvenes Promesas” en el prestigioso campo de golf “Real Club de Golf La Cañada” en Sotogrande. Este torneo es una ambiciosa iniciativa de los hermanos Ocaña, Alejandro y Borja. En poco tiempo este campeonato se ha convertido en un evento imprescindible para los jóvenes deportistas, no sólo para nuestros pequeños residentes en Andalucía, si no a nivel nacional, siendo una extraordinaria cantera de prometedores jugadores profesionales. Cuentan con unos padrinos de lujo, Álvaro Quirós y Gonzalo Fernández Castaño, dos importantes jugadores profesionales, que no han dudado en apoyar este evento donando material y por supuesto con su asistencia. Alejandro Ocaña desde muy temprana edad supo que quería dedicarse al mundo del golf y seguir los pasos de su padre.

Se formó como instructor de golf en la prestigiosa escuela de “Jim Mclean” siendo el mejor de su promoción. Actualmente es un reconocido e importante profesor de golf que comparte temporada, entre la capital de España y el Sur, trabajando en Madrid, en el conocido campo “Real Club de Golf Puerta de Hierro” y en Sotogrande, en el “Real Club Sotogrande”. Su pasión y su dedicación hacia este deporte, lo está trasmitiendo a las nuevas generaciones que ven en el golf su forma de vida. “Aprender disfrutando, jugar aprendiendo, competir evolucionando” son las premisas que Alejandro Ocaña aplica a su concepto lectivo de un deporte como el golf, haciendo que sus clases sean amenas, divertidas, inteligentes y prácticas. De este modo nuestros jóvenes crecen con bases sólidas y sanas sobre el compañerismo, la competición, la meditación y la concentración.

UP-AND-COMING YOUNG GOLFERS TOURNAMENT- ALEJANDRO OCAÑA

This last summer the second “Up-andComing Young Golfers” tournament was held at the prestigious “Real Club de Golf La Cañada” course in Sotogrande. This tournament is an ambitious initiative on the part of the Ocaña brothers, Alejandro and Borja. In a short time this championship has become an indispensable event for young golfers, not only for our youngsters resident in Andalusia, but also at national level, constituting an extraordinary pool/ fund of promising future professional golfers. It enjoys the esteemed patronage of Álvaro Quirós and Gonzalo Fernández Castaño, two major golf professionals, who have not hesitated in supporting this event, donating equipment and of course their presence. Alejandro Ocaña, from a very young age, knew that he wanted to dedicate himself to the golfing world and follow in his father’s footsteps. He trained as a golf instructor in the prestigious “Jim Mclean” school,

being the best in his year. Currently, he is a well-known and important golf teacher, who divides his time between the Spanish capital and the South, working in Madrid at the noted “Real Club de Golf Puerta de Hierro” and Sotogrande, at the “Real Club Sotogrande”. His passion and dedication to this sport is being transmitted to the new generations who see golf as their way of life. “Learn whilst enjoying, play whilst learning, compete whilst progressing” are the principles that Alejandro Ocaña applies to his concept of golf teaching, ensuring that his classes are entertaining, enjoyable, intelligent and practical. In this way our youngsters develop with the solid and wholesome foundations of comradeship, competition, meditation and concentration. The Ocaña brothers have seen to it that each year this Up-and-Coming Youngsters tournament is more consolidated, bringing together more than 100 boys and girls who hopefully await the opportunity to

Influencias que marcan su pasión por la cocina Figuras como Ferrán Adriá o Manuel de la Osa son algunos de sus referentes, a los que se suman la cocina japonesa o modelos de negocio como Nobu Restaurant o las de Joël Robuchon, chef al que admira particularmente. Inicia su aprendizaje en la Escuela de Hostelería de Málaga La Cónsula (referencia de la mejor formación en Andalucía) y donde se forma en la Alta Cocina. En 1996 empieza a trabajar con Martin Berasategui con quien comparte su ADN como cocinero. Es en este momento donde reconfirma su vocación y pasión por la cocina. Una etapa donde define el tipo de cocina en la que quiere desarrollar su carrera. Todo bajo el denominador común de “el sabor”.

La apertura de Dani García y BiBo se realiza en 2014 como resultado de sus viajes fuera de España. Su presente es el resultado de un cocinero cosmopolita en constante reinvención. Su llegada en 2013 a Nueva York le permite conocer nuevas técnicas, nuevos conceptos, negocios e ingredientes en la que constituye la etapa más difícil y la de mayor crecimiento personal y profesional del chef.

“Eres tú por primera vez tu vida”

Hasta ese momento, Dani García había hecho muchas cosas que no eran suyas: asesoramiento, encargos, dirección gastronómica, etc., sin una identidad propia. Y es con Dani García Restaurante y BiBo donde por primera vez, el chef reconoce ser él mismo. Proyectos que nacen bajo el nuevo nombre de Grupo Dani García. 2014 es el mejor año tanto personal como profesional del chef. Evolución y reconocimiento que se consolida con la apertura de ambos espacios y que termina con el año y con las 2 estrellas en el nuevo espacio del Hotel Puente Romano. La fuerza y energía de estar haciendo algo que es suyo con un gran equipo detrás es el caldo de cultivo perfecto para seguir creciendo y aprendiendo. Este nuevo camino en Marbella, permite al chef iniciar una etapa con unas bases en su cocina asentadas y sólidas, donde la creatividad en sus platos y creaciones alcanzan su máximo exponente.

Dani García

Situated amongst some of the greatest Spanish chefs, Dani García is in reality, the Andalusian chef with the best international prospects and outreach. His personality and character as a creative and inquisitive chef are the result of close to twenty years of experience in the kitchens. Born in Marbella, he is both cosmopolitan and a keen traveller. His dishes clearly reflect the influence of vivid experiences from many different cultures during his travels. His menu, therefore, is a result of a melting pot of different travels and gastronomic cultures.

Influences that define his passion for the kitchen

Figures such as Ferrán Adriá or Manuel de la Osa are some of his inspirations, to whom equates Japanese cuisine or business models such as Nobu Restaurant or those of Joél Robuchon, a chef whom he particularly admires. He began his training in the Malaga School of Hospitality La Cónsula (the best training establishment in Andalusia) and where he became part of haute cuisine. In 1996, he started to work with Martin Berasategui with whom he shares the same dedication, skills and drive as a chef. It is during this time 92

He is an authentic artisan of flavour who is able to combine, in the same plate, both the distinct produce of his country with techniques and ingredients of more international cuisines.

Dani García and BiBo opened in 2014 as the result of his travels outside of Spain. Its presence is the result of a cosmopolitan chef in constant reinvention. His arrival in 2013 in New York allowed him to learn about new techniques, concepts, business ideas and ingredients.This period of time constitutes his most difficult era and that of the most growth both on a personal and professional note.

“You are you for the first time in your life”

Up to this moment, Dani García had done many things that weren’t actually his: advice, assignments, gastronomic direction, etc., all without his own identity. Therefore Dani Garciá Restaurante and BiBo presented the first opportunity in which the chef was able to become his true self. These are projects born underneath the name of Group Dani García. 2014 is his best year to date, both to a personal and professional degree. His evolution and recognition as a chef are consolidated in in the opening of both these spaces that finished the year which 2 stars in the new space of Hotel Puente Romano. The drive and energy involved in doing something that is yours alongside the support of a great team, is the perfect recipe for the cultivation of growth and learning. This new path in Marbella permits the chef to start a new era, one with bases in a sound and well-established form of cooking, in which the creativity of his dishes and concepts can reach new exemplary heights.
