Karl Child

Karl Child (b.1988) is a British photographer currently living and working in the seaside resort of Blackpool, Lancashire where he was born and raised. Karl received a Bachelor of Arts with Honors Degree in Photography from the University of Central Lancashire in 2014. His work has taken him around the world documenting cultures and urban landscapes from Paris to Berlin and beyond. Recent work has been exhibited at the Louvre Museum in Paris, Venice Arts Gallery in California and published in Incandescent Magazine of Portland Oregon. Inspired by artists including L.S Lowry, Karl’s work focuses on the ‘every-day’, observing ordinary scenes and creating images that depict notions of our relationship with the surrounding architectural landscape. Evidently his work has progressed from urban observational material into a much more focused social form sharing stories of communities as seen in a new project, documenting Blindness in the North West.
