Choosing the Program
The site for this project was a pre-existing park, Devou Park, by the Ohio River. One of the main challenges was finding a program that would cater to both public and private customers. I pursued a design of a camp that combined nature, art, and community. While there are private spaces just for campers , there are also spaces dedicated to public use.
Tensile Construction
Cabins
One of the three spaces within this camp includes the cabins and bath house. Both boy and girl wings are joined by a meeting area and the bath house. All individual cabins are connected by tented tunnels.
Creative Center
The creative center includes versatile classrooms, outdoor sketching spaces, and a glass blowing and ceramic studio. For the camp this building serves a creative outlet for campers to artfully articulate the inspiration of the surrounding environment.
Welcome Center
This space consists of a lobby, cafeteria, and amphitheater. Each element is its own space but all are tied together under a tensile envelope. It is intended to be the most public space in the camp by being accessible to both campers and park goers.
Stair Studies
Diagram Matrix,and Renders
Process
This project began with group data recording of five stairs around the University of Cincinnati. After all the information was recorded from the field studies I created a matrix of diagrams for all five stairs. I then focused on two stair, one located in Michael Graves’ Engineering Research Center (ERC) and the other located outside the Patricia Corbett Theater.
ERC
The section perspective render and the exploded axon fostered a deeper investigation of the stairs located in the Engineering Research Center. The axon focuses on the elements of the space while the section render gives more information on materiality.
Building from Within
Sections, Modeling, Diagrams
Study of the Human Ratio Building a space from within began by studying the human proportion. Using the human body and its natural ratios as the foundation, I built five individual models.
Individual Models
In addition to being created from human proportions, the models were further iterated using descriptive actions. Each action is demonstrated in the following diagrams.

Creating Space
Taking those five individual models, I started trying to find relationships between each spaces. The finished project is all original models combined to create a space based on the human ratio.

Reflection
X Axis
The overlying idea behind the Mirror Image Townhouse is to have everything reflected over the x and y axis. My goal was to articulate this parti not only in the plans but in the interior and exterior features of the house.
Y Axis

Interior
Third Floor
The interior of the townhouse has exposed joist to distinguish spaces and show how they are related throughout. The materiality of the floor is also designed to articulate the reflection in the plans on a more human scale.

Exterior
To bring the idea of reflection and mirroring to the exterior I utilized the front and back facades and the roof line. The windows on both front in back facades articulate the stairs while remaining mirrored. Sawtooth sky lights on the third floor try to address southern light while also articulating a language of reflection.

Linear Accelerator Room and Reception Area
My Part
For this project I created view and rendered them from a preexisting Revit model. I also created the Linear Accelerator machine in Sketchup and uploaded it to Revit to use for this project.
The Project
This is another renovation project for a Linear Accelerator examination room, waiting room, and reception area.

DRL Group was working with Pinal County to Expand their federal courthouse. This Expansion includes open office area, private chambers and 3-6 new courtrooms. There were many federal codes and privacy issues that needed to be addressed. The addition is also meant to connect almost seamlessly with the existing building.
