THE NEW JUNGLE BOOK When I was young, I loved to watch the Walt Disney's movie - The Jungle Book. After many years, I decided to see what a jungle is so I went to Equador. Within 40 minutes, you can fly from Quito to Lago Agrio. Then, you have to cross the River Cuyabeno for one and a half hours and another one and a half hour motorboat wide to Cuyabeno Ecological Reserve - the Heart of the Amazon Jungle.

In order to protect wildlife in Ecuador, they built numerous national parks and reserves - one of which is the Cuyabeno Ecological Reserve. The modern image of the Amazon are two different worlds. One is extremely rich and intense vegetation, habitat of many animals, including 900 species of birds, 600 species of fish, tapirs, anacondas, boa constrictors, turtles, alligators, jaguars, armadillos, numerous rodents. The second world is the oil industry. Local people get to choose to work at the oil production or cultivation of plants and support tourism. 1

Some communities, like Siona ethnic group, living in the jungle choose to work as a tourist guide. Siona's ethnic group works for sustainable development. In their local environment they work as ecological tourism operators; in addition they cultivate their land and produce various handcraft products. Siona group has chosen the lifestyle that practices the ideas of their ancestors and Shamans` vision.

Eco Tourism is based on tourist lodges, whose power supply comes from solar batteries, that provide ecological cleaners and biological refinery of sludge. Expedition into the jungle can take place only with a guide and a group of no more than 12 people. You are guaranteed to see exotic birds, monkeys, dolphins who live in rivers, anaconda, and caimans.
