THE ST PATRICK’S FESTIVITIES ARE ORGANISED AND FUNDED BY KILKENNY COUNTY COUNCIL
A Cháirde,
Fearaim fíor-chaoin fáilte roimh gach éinne do Pharáid Lá le Pádraig 2020 i gcathair álainn Chill Chainnigh. Táimid an-bhródúil as ár dtimpeallacht anseo agus is dá bharr sin go bhfuil an ‘Bithéagsúlacht -Tá tabhacht le gach aon créatúr’, roghnaithe mar théama na bliana seo. Bí linn ar shráideanna na cathrach don bhféile náisiúnta. As chairperson of the 2020 St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee, I would like to acknowledge the hard work of our committee and thank them for their involvement and input which makes St. Patrick’s Day in Kilkenny an entertaining and enjoyable experience for locals and visitors alike. For the 2020 parade, we have chosen the theme “Biodiversity - Every Creature Counts”. Put simply, biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth. It refers to the range and difference of every living thing on the planet and their relationships to each other, from microscopic organisms to the giant blue whale. I’d like to say a special thanks to all the community groups, sporting organisations and all who get involved in the parade. This is truly a community parade and it is wonderful to see local groups and organisations march proudly through our beautiful city. Is mise, Joe Malone. Chairperson St. Patrick’s Day Committee 2020. 2020 Committee: Cllr. Joe Malone (Chairperson), Mayor Cllr. Martin Brett, Cllr. Eugene McGuinness, Martin Bridgeman, Tim Butler, Ian Gardner, Anne Maria Walsh and Catherine Cooney.

This is a fantastic opportunity to view another high-quality conservation project, recently completed by Kilkenny County Council, and the latest addition to Kilkenny’s medieval experience in Kilkenny’s Cultural Quarter. The Evans’ Home site, located just off Johns’ Quay on the east side of the river Nore, is rich in archaeological and built heritage and has been largely hidden from view until now. In addition to the refurbishment of the historic building itself the development delivers a significant new area of public open spaces which will include a Children’s Garden, an Archaeological Garden, a Sculpture Garden and a new pedestrian connection from John Street through the site to John’s Quay. The eagerly awaited finished building will be the new home for ‘The Butler Gallery’, currently located at Kilkenny Castle. There will be information sessions taking place throughout the day which will chart the progress of the project from design to completion. The project is funded by Kilkenny County Council with the support of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht and Fáilte Ireland.
