Este libro está dedicado a la memoria de mi padre, Fermín, y a mis hermanas Mariví y Zuriñe. A Edu “Wito”, el mejor embajador que ha tenido Txapelpixel, también con cariño a SIlvia, Jokin y Diego. Txapelpixel, máquina de imágenes Este libro reúne las imágenes que ha generado Txapelpixel durante los 10 años que lleva de vida pública y que ha ido documentando su autor a lo largo de esta década. Karramarro pasó por un momento en el que le ponía boina a todo (puedo imaginarlo, porque le he visto poner bigote a todo). Hasta a los cangrejos (karra) de otra de sus pegatinas. Tan habitual era lo de poner boina que se la puso a un logotipo rechazado. Y de ahí salió Txapelpixel. Su nombre procede de la conjunción de los términos txapel y píxel. El primero hace referencia a la boina de gran pirulón de Euskadi (txapela) como el tocado masculino habitual del ambiente rural que ha de ser reivindicado como elemento protector de gran practicidad. A su vez, esta palabra tiene mucho que ver con la francesa “chapeau”. Y es que es eso lo que tiende a hacer uno cuando descubre esa mirada cuadrada e impasible: sacarse el sombrero y hacerse preguntas. Para Karramarro, “El libro junta casi 10 años de zascandilerías, muchas de ellas colectivas, por eso tenía ganas de ver muchos amigos entre las fotos. Txapelpixel es jugar y hacer el ganso. No es un proyecto artístico, arte callejero ni nada de eso. Junta lo analógico y lo digital, lo local y lo global; un poco como decir “sé tu mismo”. Somos bilbaínos y orgullosos”. Jugar y hacer el ganso. Esta afirmación da para mucho. Al fin y al cabo, si se introduce un elemento amable en el entorno cotidiano, el paso del tiempo lleva a establecer una relación cercana con el elemento amable. Así es como Txapelpixel se convierte en alguien cotidiano al que te alegras de reconocer en rincones inesperados de cualquier ciudad. Eso es jugar al escondite y lanzar rayos de visibilidad a las pupilas anónimas. Una forma sofisticada de hacer el ganso. Hay más elementos de juego en todo esto. Txapelpixel viaja mucho. Utilizará este libro para seguir multiplicándose de manera secuencial. Cuantas más veces se vea a Txapelpixel, tanto mayor será la distancia recorrida. Funciona como una cápsula de tiempo y de espacio. El don de la ubicuidad sólo lo adquieren los dioses de los mitos, como Txapelpixel. Otra vez haciendo el ganso, pero con más swing. Pero también es posible ver a Txapelpixel en medio de manifestaciones y protestas históricas. O se estaba a favor o en contra. De la misma manera, aparece de súbito en señales viarias hechas para la tracción humana. O se descubren unas imágenes que ayudan a comprender la posibilidad de comparar cualquier paralelogramo cotidiano con un píxel. Haciendo el ganso, en serio. Este icono de Karramárrez resulta una excusa perfecta para juntar a un puñado de amigos/ trabajadores del píxel y reirse montando una edición de 50 ejemplares en un fin de semana. Txapelpixel, image machine This book brings together images Txapelpixel has generated during the 10 years of its public life. They were gathered by their author for over a decade. Karramarro has gone through a stage in which he put a beret on everything (I can imagine, because I saw him put a moustache on everything), even on the crabs (Karra), another of his stickers. He became so used to putting a beret on everything that one day he dressed a rejected logo. That is how Txapelpixel came to be. Its name comes from the conjunction of terms txapela and pixel.
