large environment graphics that are usually applied over walls or floors to form a kind of altered space

having the property of transmitting rays of light through its substance, so bodies situated behind can be distinctly seen

blurring boundaries, discover the relation between the interior and exterior

an idea that required architect designing a building creating spaces by fusing two or more space

the definition of collage appears as a technique for making compositions by attaching material fragment

the alteration of the original shape, distortion of the breast parenchyma with no definite mass visible

positive space is the one conceived as a void, then wrapped in a built shell erected to define and contain it. Negative space is created by hollowing out a solid that already exists

an abrupt break in continuity, this technique can be used when design facade

In architectural terminology, the term folding structure means structures consisting of plane polygonal elements which made of plates and sticks.

Samrat Yantra Observatory Jaipur,India (1738)

The Samrat Yantra is a giant triangle that is basically an equal hour sundial. It is 70 feet high, 114 feet long at the base, and 10 feet thick. It has a 128-foot-long (39 m) hypotenuse that is parallel to the Earth’s axis and points toward the North Pole. On either side of the triangle is a quadrant with graduations indicating hours, minutes, and seconds. At the time of the Samrat Yantra’s construction, sundials already existed, but the Samrat Yantra turned the basic sundial into a precision tool for measuring declination and other related coordinates of various heavenly bodies.

INVERSION

Refering to the jantar mantar, I extracted some elements such as the staircase and the hollow pattern, then i create this iteration, it was also inspired by the popular game Monument Valley, a surreal exploration game that guides a princess back home through fantastic buildings and geometric structures. Based on this idea, I proposed to create an interior space for the gallery composed of similar elements and techniques, provide a spatial experience filled with volumetric exhibition room and partitioned masses. and different geometric can defined as different function。

Inversion & Jump Cut Refering to the comlongon castle, using insideout objects of tranditional building to build this iteration. Rectangular elements are arranged and intersected to propose an interior space. The middle geometries, which rises in turn and is arranged in order, symbolizes the auditorium's chairs.

Inversion & Fragmentation Based on comlongon castle, using inside-out objects of tranditional building to build this iteration. Extracting triangles as the main elements and intersecting them randomly to form an exterior facade, which allows natural light to penetrate and creates varying shadows to add interest to space.

Inversion & Folding Refering to the comlongon castle, using inside-out objects of tranditional building to build this iteration. The irregular shape is copied and folded to produce a transitional roof that can connect the inside and the outside, or two separate exhibition halls. Folding is also used to create an outdoor lawn, which acts as a transition and a resting area for people to communicate.

Directed at the huge cone tower in the sky, the truncated streets suspended in mid-air, a fork in the road that leads nowhere, the cycle of recipr feeling of time stagnation, eventually people got lost. The white warm fair-faced concrete wall makes the spatial structure of the building show ry. The maze is an ambiguity metaphor that refers to the lost place as well as the fascinating and intoxicated place.

Long Museum , Shanghai, China The flowing exhibition space under the overground as-cast-finish concrete “vault-umbrella” and the “white box” exhibition space on the first underground floor are connected with spiral ladders downward. The parallel tensility highlighting the space, primordial but realistic, and the art exhibition from the ancient, modern and contemporary periods, has displayed an exhibition space featuring the temporality.

The new Nancy and Rich Kinder Museum, Steven Holl Architects “corridor around the central atrium, concave ceiling plates reflecting the light into the space” The undersides of the curved ceiling become light reflectors, catching and sliding the light across each distinct gallery experience. These curved slices of light shape the gallery spaces in a unique way related to the organic qualities of the lush vegetation and water that characterize the new campus. Rather than mechanical and repetitive, the light is flowing, echoing the movement through the galleries.

ShanDong Culture Expo Center, China The artistic conception of “Garden confusion between heaven and earth, near sky and earth all the far” . The scale and space of the art gallery is limited, so architect designs the trapezoid turning space on the south side, corresponding to two gaps on the exterior of the building which enhances the diagonal space. In addition, it allows that every entity which participates space construction can dislocate, reverse with each other and enhance the space movement.

Shuyang Art Museum , China The way of cutting the corner through the arc surface strengthens the iconic character of the building along the street, forming a unique lasting appeal. 91 32

Ruby City, San Antonio, Texas The exterior skin consists of a precast concrete fabricated in Mexico City and imbued with a rich red color. For the first ten feet up, the concrete is a polished finish, refined to be smoothly touched by passersby; above, the concrete wall is rough, sharp, and encrusted with two hues of red glass. The total effect on the building makes it appear as if this angular, rough, and sparkling rock, has been sheared at the level of human interaction. The contrast between smooth and rough is a signature decision for Ruby City. The exterior form consists of a ‘heavier’ top with sloping soffits, emphasizing its upward lift, topped with two crowning skylights – or lanterns – that create an animated roofline.

The Musée des Confluences Hard Space – Soft Space The Crystal performs like an urban square, receiving visitors and preparing them for the museum experience. It is oriented toward the world in which we daily evolve; its contours are precise; its form is crystalline and measurable. This crystalline nature results from its glass-and-steel construction. Large panes of glass are mounted in steel frames: assemblages that, by virtue of being resistant to flexion, make the various folded surfaces seem reflective. K A R R I N LI
