FORE HIGHLY MOTIVATED TO WIN WITH GOLD KART The most successful driver currently racing, Davide Fore does not seem to be affected by the passage of time. At 41, this year he starts a new challenge as an official driver of the Gold Kart brand from Righetti Ridolfi. I would first like to thank Giancarlo Tinini for six seasons in the CRG Racing Team where I often fought at the front in KZ with many successes and great victories in the US, Brazil and Australia in 2015. My passion as a driver is intact, and although it is not always easy, I still have the motivation to win races. Several interesting proposals were made for me to race in 2016 and I finally decided to join Gold Kart who offered me factory driver status as well as an exciting race programme and development. " Officially supported by TM Racing, Davide Fore will therefore race under the Gold Kart colours in 2016 in the CIK-FIA championships as well as in WSK, Germany and the United States. Gold Kart was highlighted last year at Le Mans during the KZ2 International Super Cup with the 3rd place for Alberto Cavalieri and the good performance from Tom Lorkowski. The arrival of a driver like Davide Fore in the ranks of the team will boost the ambitions of a brand previously unknown in Europe.

REORGANISATION OF THE CRG RACING TE
EAM WITH THE RETURN OF DINO CHIESA Things have changed for CRG since the managing director Giancarlo Tinini, asked Dino Chiesa to take charge of the entire racing department of the factory, which will be integrated with Zanardi Corse. Glenn Keyaert retains his position as team manager after completing his first year in this new role.
T
his is a homecoming for Dino Chiesa, a great talent scout, creator of the legendary MBM team (who trained Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg) and later of the Zanardi brand. Dino will be both the direct contact and the representative at the races for Giancarlo Tinini who will now be able to devote his energies to the diversification of the group's activities. The strategy of the Italian brand is taking effect with the growth of North American and British markets and Maxter engines, as well as the leisure karting industry. The right arm of his boss, Dino Chiesa will remain in charge of the technical development of the Zanardi chassis, while assuming strategic responsibility for the CRG Racing Team. He will also manage the operational and personnel of the CRG team and decide the selection of technicians and drivers while keeping an eye on the quality of CRG chassis for the competition as well as production. The CIK-FIA and WSK Series will be joined by interests in Rotax and X30 in the CRG colours as well as Zanardi.

IT TAKES TIME TO WIN WHEN SWITCHING FROM KARTS TO CARS "Value does not depend on the number of years," said Corneille of Cid in the seventeenth century. This praise of the young however, should not overshadow the necessary value of experience. Many of us regret that it is now possible to start in cars having barely blown out the candles on a 15th birthday cake.
A
lthough the FIA has taken steps to prevent the lightning path of Max Verstappen, an F1 driver at only 17, he will serve as a model for a new generation, but the simple observation of the results of very young racing drivers should provide a basis for reflection for the parents of future talents.
The top three in the 2014 World KFJunior Championship moved to cars the next year. The British driver Enaam Ahmed finished 8th in the F4 British championship and 18th in the SMP championship. Mick Schumacher was classified 10th in ADAC F4 in Germany with a victory and two podiums, while the Argentinian Maurizio Baiz finished the Italian F4 season in 12th place with only one podium. It went better for the World KF Champion of 2014, Lando Norris, the winner of French F4 in his first season in single-seaters, but we cannot say that the vice-champion Nikita Mazepin has made a mark, despite a well-funded programme, while the Indian driver Jehan Daruvala took 5th place in the NEC FR 2.0. Two drivers hit the headlines last season by joining the F3 European
Championship directly from the KF category. Callum Ilott finished the year in 12th, while Alessio Lorandi was ranked 20th. Max Verstappen managed to shine in cars in his first year in F3 firstly because of his extraordinary talent, but also because he had a lot of time in karting (and continues still...). Never forget that karting provides unparalleled experience with much higher seat time than in a car. Only unreasonable budgets allow a select few spend the same amount of time in a car. But we always talk about talent?

CBK: AN EXCELLEN
NT RECORD IN 2015 Rewarded with the 2014 Minime French Championship and French Cup with Sophie Perrin, the CBK team has developed its business successfully in other categories in 2015. To the exceptional season for Hadrian David in Minime has been added two significant titles in the French Championship thanks to Harald Creton in National and Royanne Hamidat-Sodez in Feminine.
Our work is really starting to bear fruit!" says Cedric Boisroux. "From Minikart to KZ2, we have expanded our offering in several directions and it worked for us! I believe that since its creation CBK has proven itself and the performance of our drivers has not gone unnoticed. Because of the results recorded in 2015, enquiries are multiplying for the upcoming season..." Hadrien David was able to confirm his ambitions in Minime moving on from 2014. A passionate and perfectionist
driver, Hadrian was a revelation in 2015 by gathering an impressive amount of successes: French Cup, NSK, the Regional Championship for Ile-de-France and the Oscar Petit Trophy are among his victories. He is a great hope in Cadet for 2016. After a superb start to the season in Cadet, where she immediately reached the top, Sophie Perrin had to take a break for the last meeting of the year because of family reasons. A promising young talent in Minikart and a formidable competitor, Eliott Vayron won the Stars of Karting, the Ile-deFrance Regional Championship and the Oscar Petit Trophy, a development to follow in Minime this season. In the National category CBK won two Championship titles in France in 2015. Harald Creton masterfully imposed at Angerville while Royanne Hamidat-Sodez was crowned best female at Aunay-les-Bois. "Two success stories from drivers who have chosen to trust us to fulfill their ambitions," commented Cédric Boisroux. "I don't think they were disappointed with our services!" In his first season with CBK, Naim Bangui raced in the KZ2 category in 2015 with totally respectable results for his debut in 125cc gearbox where he was capable of running in the top 10 among
the specialists. Another driver from Reunion, Rehane Gany is very promising for his 11 years. He did much more than make up the numbers for his first races in France by producing strong performances in National Junior and X30. A young driver to watch in 2016 with increasing ambitions and an extended programme. "I would first like to thank and congratulate the drivers for the superb 2015 season where CBK has shone on many occasions," concludes Cédric. "I also thank Cédric Sport to our fine collaboration in terms of engines, as well as Win Max Engines elsewhere. Our business is now well underway and we have a reputation for preparing the equipment well. The 2016 season has already started with new challenges."

This bonus can be estimated on average as being worth €2,000 per Driver. More than ever, the one-make formula of CIK-FIA designed to make access to Karting Competition easier is very attractive for young talents worldwide. The large number of coun-
tries already interested at the start of the year is proof. The Trophy will start in France, in Aunay les Bois, from April 22nd to 24th, with an additional day of testing on Thursday. THE INNOVATIVE CCS SYSTE
EM FOR THE Last October, the IPK group unveiled a preview of a complete upgrade for the current range. The innovations include the 2016 Racing competition chassis for the OK1, Praga and Formula K brands.
T
he choice of bodywork is the KG Buru / evo duo, with thinner sidepods and a front spoiler with large appendages, which optimises the aerodynamic penetration rate. The most important development, however, is the CCS system (Camber Caster System). This ingenious system allows very fine adjustments of the camber angle of the steering system with a large number of combinations. The innovation enables amazingly quick adjustments without disassembly. With two eccentrics of 1 and 2 degrees included, the caster angle can always be set with the replacement of the top piece. The OK1, Praga and Formula K chassis from the IPK Group are distributed by Action Karting.

RK COMPÉTITION,
APASSIONATE 100% TEAM A former kart driver who learned his trade with Charles Germain, Alex Ravoire, the boss of RK Competition, has been a recognised professional since 1992. Many famous drivers have had the opportunity to enjoy his services. These include Nicolas Lapierre, Mathias Beche, Eric Salignon, Alexandre Imperatori, as well as Romain Grosjean and more recently Jean-Philippe Guignet and Esteban Ocon. Alex has even run Nico Rosberg!
A
bove all his eclectic passion for engines, (in karting, as well as motorcycles and cars), Alex Ravoire has had many opportunities to show his expertise with RK Competition which he founded with his brother Romuald. Just steps from the Rumilly track, in the Haute-Savoie, the RK workshops have over 400 m² of beautifully equipped space. The centerpiece remains the Dynojet dyno, a benchmark in the industry, where Alex gives free rein to his talents as a tuner. RK Competition is also an official distributor for Vortex, the Tony Kart dealer for Rhône-Alpes and an authorised Rotax Centre.
Alex Ravoire's other passion is to participate in the emergence of promising youngsters. "What I like most is to accompany the development of a driver in the long term. It takes time for a talent to be revealed, some parents understand, others don't. But this is the secret of success. I do not think I'm their coach, but as a team manager I bring both my technical knowledge and the instillation of values from the start to develop good habits in the drivers. I strongly believe in hard work and in particular the importance of test sessions in the early years. I trust Jean Philippe Guignet to manage data and video, two important aspects today. When you see the list of those who started with me, we can definitely say that it did not hurt their success!"
A specialist Rotax and X30, as well as KZ, Alex Ravoire welcomes the introduction of the new OK engines. "The time for real engines is back! I look forward to working with these new machines. Certainly RK Competition will have a busy schedule in 2016, but I'm delighted!" Many drivers, including young protégés Didier André and Ugo Gazil, will race this season under the RK Competition colours from Minikart to KZ via Rotax and the X30 with a strong involvement in OK and OK-Junior, with the Winter Cup as the first meeting of the year.

PSM RETURNS TO COMPETITION AND PSM is one of the French teams that have left their mark karting nationally and internationally. In addition to a return to competition for PSM, a commercial space of 500 m2 has opened in Mulsanne, near the international circuit, under the banner ITAKAshop Le Mans. 12 years after the title of World Team Champion with Sodikart, PSM could not consider this comeback without close collaboration with the world leader of karting.
History and future Established in 2001, PSM built an impressive record in just a few years, while ensuring a reputation that quickly surpassed the French borders through good choices at all levels: technical, support, management, staff, team and engine. The successes were repeated... World Team Champion with Sodikart, European Champion, twice Vice-World champion, 10 times French Champion of France,

Today, all the ingredients are in place to achieve great things in the coming seasons."
Birth of ITAKAshop Le Mans
Located in Mulsanne near the Le Mans circuit, Pierre Gilbert has chosen to associate PSM with ITAKA, the famous brand of the Sodikart group. The reputed engineer Fabrice Etienne will be a consultant to the chassis section. SONIC RACING, TONY KART DISTRIBUTOR FOR SOUTH-EASTERN FRANCE
Sonic Racing Kart, Sebastien Caranta's company based in Saint-Tropez, is well known for its racing team running under the Kosmic colours. Renowned for its reliability and performance in competition, from Minikart to the Euro Challenge including Minime / Cadet, National, Rotax Max and Endurance, Sonic has more than one string to its bow.
A
lthough the southern team has been loyal for over 15 years to the Kosmic brand, it is the incomparable quality of OTK Group productions that has always convinced. The trust is returned as Sonic Racing Kart has been entrusted with the distribution of Tony Kart chassis to the southeast of France. "Both at the commercial or sporting level, I've always been a fan of OTK products," said Sebastien Caranta. "Professionally, it's very nice to work with a company of this calibre. The
equipment from Prevalle is always so exciting. It's well designed, impeccably made and very competitive, so I don't see where we could find better, both for chassis and for accessories. Everyone knows that Sonic Racing Kart highlighted the Kosmic colours as much as possible, and this will not change any time soon. Over time, our company has strengthened its foundation and we are now able to add another brand to our catalogue. With the distribution of Tony Kart chassis, our project is to become a benchmark OTK outlet in the region, a sort of OTK
Shop in Provence. This is all the more feasible as we already have a full stock of spare parts and accessories common to the two OTK brands." It is therefore possible, and even advisable, to go through Sonic Racing Kart for Tony Kart chassis and parts in the southeast region, as well as benefitting from a warm welcome and and competence at the circuits.

Under the leadership of its president, Jacques Neveu, commitment has increased to the same priorities which will convey the passion, experience and specialist expertise to encourage good habits and to enable young people to deal with the best of the challenging sport of karting. The convergence of these activities was recently strengthened by the opening of the first Centre for Training and Preparation for Kart Driving at Salbris, as part of a more ambitious project that also includes an education component in partnership with a local college.
NEWS
J
acques Neveu outlines the creation and objectives of Kartagène: "After a long time in karting and motorsport, especially with my son, I have always been puzzled by the culture of secrecy that prevails in the sport which unnecessarily complicates access for newcomers. We decided to take a stand against this regrettable habit by creating the Kartagène company with the dual objectives "teach and encourage." For several years, Kartagène has implemented several training courses at Salbris, following initial training provided by the FFSA French Karting Schools. Driven by the desire to always do better, we have come to consider a more ambitious concept in which the driver's training is integrated with their education. It seems unthinkable that young drivers neglect their studies to devote themselves to racing. At the same time, a specialised gym has been built at Salbris." The opening of this facility, a first at a karting circuit, was held on December 18th, 2015 in the presence of Jacques Neveu, Christian Picard, representing the Community of Communes of Romorantin, Olivier Pavy, the Mayor of Salbris and Martine Reynaud, the President of the Regional Commission Karting Centre. It is a physical training room dedicated to training drivers. Beyond the equipment necessary for complete youth training from cardio to strength training, Kartagène has adopted a sophisticated reflexes wall to work on this essential aspect of driving. Training provided by Kartagène for a driver builds naturally on many track sessions at Salbris, as well as a theoretical component from mechanics to learning the regulations, analysis of races and media training. This complete education is provided by the framework of BP-JEPS and DE-JEPS.
Another novelty of the Centre for Training and Preparation for Kart Driving at Salbris is to have established contacts with the Ministry of Education to offer a fully equipped education. An agreement was signed with the management and the teaching staff of the College Edouard Vaillant at Vierzon, located 20 minutes from the circuit. This establishment, which has already established partnerships in other sports, quickly accepted the establishment of a Karting section to provide young people with special timetables for drivers, including especially tailored courses. From the beginning of September 2016, the Centre for Training and Preparation for Kart Driving at Salbris can therefore accommodate a small group of motivated young people and will have a good academic facility from the 5th to 3rd years for a complete training of the body and the unique spirit of the sport. Drivers and interested families can find out more now from Kartagène.

DRIVER MARKET 2015-2016 A MORE INTERNATIONAL FIELD
The 2015-2016 transfer period in international karting was characterised by a large number of new entries and fewer departures of drivers. For example, all the European and World champions from last season will race this season.
B
ut first, there is the reorganisation of two great teams with the return of Dino Chiesa as CRG Racing Team's head and Rickard Kaell's arrival in command of Birel ART Motorsport. KZ has proportionately the highest internal relocations as Davide Fore has joined Gold Kart, Flavio Camponeschi has gone to CRG, Patrik Hajek has joined Kosmic and the young Marcus Armstrong has moved into the category with big names at the Tony Kart Racing Team. Douglas Lundberg has signed with the German team Mach1. Leonardi Lorandi (Baby Race) will race in KZ2. Camponeschi is racing in OK simultaneously against a strong list of
well-known drivers. Although Karol Basz, Nicklas Nielsen, Tom Joyner, and Felice Tiene have remained loyal to their teams, Martijn Van Leeuwen has joined Birel ART and Tom Bale has arrived at Forza Racing. Several former Juniors have moved up to the top category: Logan Sargeant and Sun Yue Yang (RFM), Clement Novalak and Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart), Noah Millel (Kosmic), and Lucas Légeret (Birel ART). OK-Junior looks very interesting. Regarding the defectors, the promising Brazilian Caio Collet is new at Birel ART, Noah Watt has joined Baby Race, Timothy Peisselon (RFM), Milane Petelet (Praga), Frederik Vesti (Forza Racing), and Franck Chappard (Kosmic). Kiern Jewiss (Ricciardo)
will move to OK-Junior from Rotax Junior, as will Fin Kenneally (RFM). There has also been many up from 60 Mini with Leonardo Marseglia (Tony Kart), Mattia Michelotto (Giugliano Kart), Dennis Hauger (CRG), Giuseppe Fusco (Lenzo) and Muizziddin Abdul Gaffar (DR Racing). Of the French, the number of drivers in the CIK races, usually up from Cadet, is much higher than in previous years: Theo Pourchaire (Kosmic), Martin Eteki (SG Driver's), Victor Martins (VDK Racing) Thomas Mialane and Theo Nouet (Energy), and Gillian Henrion (Henrion Racing).

THE FRENCH DRIVERS AT THE
E CHAMPIONS CUP AT ADRIA? Nine French drivers were racing in OK-Junior for the first international race in this new category. Four of them had one or two seasons of experience in KF-Junior, while it was a baptism of fire for the other five. The overall French picture is encouraging for the future.
C
harles Milesi (Tony Kart / Vortex) was consistently at the front before finishing 4th in the final, while Timothy Peisselon (FA Kart / Vortex) came back to 2nd position. Both drivers were even able to take the lead on several occasions during the weekend, proof that their equipment is in place and they have the ability to win. The meeting started badly for Milan Petelet (Praga / Parilla), but once a few technical problems had been resolved, he was able to gain 15 places in the prefinal and keep his 14th place in the final. Franck Chappard (Kosmic / Vortex) had a very good run, progressing steadily since his 36th in qualifying. After qualifying 13th in the prefinal, he gained 11 positions in the final to finish 15th. Of the rookies Thomas Mialane (Energy / TM) did best. After a penalty at the beginning of the meeting, he managed to qualify 13th in the rain in prefinal B and progressed to the final gaining 13 places to finish in a remarkable 12th position. Vic-
tor Martins (Kosmic / Parilla) impressed in qualifying by posting the 9th fastest time out of 67 participants. Delayed by overheating in the second heat, he was able to qualify, finishing 12th. Although he was one of the few drivers able to restart himself in the rain, he gave up a few laps later. Gillian Henrion (Kosmic / Vortex) didn't give up after qualifying and took two top 10s in the heats. Theo Pourchaire (Kosmic / Vortex) and Theo Nouet (Energy / TM) experienced a difficult weekend without much success, too often attacked in the pack. Although not all of the young French drivers were able to shine during the first international event of 2016, their presence in increasing numbers at this level is a very positive sign and the results should quickly improve in the upcoming races. Two drivers also raced in OK. Jean-Baptiste Simmenauer (Tony Kart / Vortex) has negotiated his way into the top category. 13th after the heats, he dropped
back in prefinal A because of a penalty for a detached spoiler, but regained 12 places in the final and was ranked 12th in an interesting position. After a big crash in the second heat and a penalty of 10'' in prefinal A, Alexandre Gadois (Kosmic / Parilla) gave up within two laps of the final finish. Finally, three young French drivers had started their adventure in 60 Mini. It was a difficult start into the deep end for Benjamin Cartery (Formula K / TM) who probably lacked experience. Both experienced Minime drivers, Evann Mallet and Loris Cabirou managed, not without difficulty, to stay ahead of the game. Evann (CRG / TM) drove two good races and above all took a superb top five in prefinal B before finishing in 15th in the final. Loris (Lenzo / LKE) had problems early in the meeting (57th in qualifying), but made amends on Sunday by gaining 16 seats in the prefinal A and 10 in the final to finish in the top 10.

CS Motori has just been entrusted with the official import of the Italian Modena Engines. Launched on the market in 2013, the Modena KK1 quickly gained many users in KZ thanks to its high performance and its potential for development. In its first season, it was immediately competitive and the enthusiasm for this unusual engine has continued to expand in France and abroad. After this first more than successful experience, Modena Engines has just ho-
mologated for 2016 its new MKZ "RS". The cylinder, cylinder head, crankcase, intake, exhaust, and everything else has been revised and improved for even better performance. The superb MKZ "RS" is now on pre-order from JCS Motori, who also ensures the supply of spare parts for the Modena KK1 and MKZ models. The racing department of JCS Motori will once again offer Modena engine hire and assistance for any engine in the Alsace-Lorraine Regional Cham-
pionship, several national KZ2 events and during major events like the Trophée Oscar Petit at Varennes sur Allier.

INTERVIEW
Interview with
Ralf Schumac
boss of the KSM Schumacher Ra Info Kartcom - Frédéric Billet © Photo KSP - Philippe Kalmès
The history of KSM - A key figure in competition karting in Germany, Peter Kaiser has led many drivers to victory since 1987, the best known of whom are undoubtedly Michael and Ralf Schumacher. Peter Kaiser managed the Kerpen circuit until the end of 2007. The KSM Motorsport team was then created in 2008, still in Kerpen, by the association of three people: Peter Kaiser K, Michael Schumacher S and Thomas Muchow M.
I
n January 2014, Ralf Schumacher joined KSM to replace Peter Kaiser at the head of the team. Early in 2015, KSM became the importer of all OTK Group products in Germany under the name OTK Germany. The KSM Schumacher Racing Team recently won the German Junior Championship (DJKM) with Bent Viscaal and KZ2 (DSKM) with Alexander Schmitz, on Tony Kart / Vortex karts. In January 2016, KSM Schumacher Racing Team made history by winning the first race for the new CIK-FIA categories. In the Winterpokal at Kerpen, Bent Viscaal won OK and David Brinkmann OK-Junior. As a driver, Ralf Schumacher saw many successes during his automotive career after his early beginnings in karting. In 1995, he finished a notable second at the Monaco F3 Grand Prix and won the Macau F3 GP while ranking 2nd in the F3 Masters. Then in 1997 he moved up to 10 seasons of Formula 1 at Jordan, Williams and Toyota, taking six wins, six pole positions and 27 podiums.
YOUR TEAM WON THE FIRST RACE OF THE NEW OK GENERATION ... - Yes, it's true, but it was important for us, as a Vortex importer to show in Germany how these new engines work as early as possible in order to inspire national drivers to join these very interesting categories. We are happy to have won, but the goal was primarily to promote the OK and OKJunior.
YOU ARE THEREFORE IN FAVOUR OF OK? - Absolutely! These new engines have good attributes to appeal to a wide range of drivers, starting with the driving pleasure they provide. The first running went very smoothly with excellent reliability and more exciting races. Of course, as you may have seen in Adria, drivers will need to adapt to the removal of the clutch. The push start is not really an issue, but when the engine stalls on track after a spin or seize, it is not always ob-
cher,
acing Team
vious. We will see during the season if other small problems arise, particularly with the transmission, but overall I am pleased with these new rules.
WHAT IS YOUR INTERNATIONAL OBJECTIVE WITH THE KSM SCHUMACHER RACING TEAM? - In 2015 we began to take part in many more races outside Germany. There was no great German team at the international races and everyone has seen that good German drivers often don't leave their country. We are here to change this situation and allow the drivers from our country to shine as they deserve in CIK-FIA and WSK competitions.

BACK TO LKE OK
While the first few competitions in OK and OK-Junior have only just taken place, we are at the starting point for these new engines which are homologated for 9 years from 1st January 2016. The development of the OK generation of engines required a lot of discussion by the CIK-FIA with the ASNs and manufacturers to reach a compromise acceptable to all parties.
Quick reminder
The OK generation is directly derived from the old KF. 2 stroke, 125cc, water-cooled, balance shaft, an internal or external water pump, no clutch, no starter or loom, push start with decompression valve. One make exhaust.
OK
• 24mm carburettor • Simplified exhaust valve • Max speed 16,000 rev / min • Minimum weight 145 kg • Front brakes prohibited
OK-Junior
• 20mm carburettor • Max speed 14,000 rev / min • Minimum weight 140 kg

January 31st, 2016 First appearance of OK and OK-Junior in competition at the Winterpokal in Kerpen (DEU). Since October, the CIK-FIA gave an opportunity to several reputable professionals to showcase the strengths of the OK engine generation. Here are some significant excerpts.
Jordon Lennox-Lamb, British IAME driver, 2015 Vice-World Champion in KF
I am eager to compete in OK races. The OK engine is very nice to drive. Its maximum speed and how it is achieved, combined with the lightness of everything, provides thrills that had been forgotten and that recall the old 100cc. The removal of hand controlled front brakes is a very good thing. The talent of the driver will be more important for successful overtaking. I am convinced that the OK engines have the potential to attract a large number of drivers worldwide.
Olivier Marechal, Team Manager of Kosmic Racing Department, the 2015 KF World Champion team with Karol Basz.
Luca De Donno, Chairman of WSK Promotion, promoter of most CIK-FIA competitions
We had to offer an alternative to KF which was never successful at national events and this is where the OK has a good card to play.
Real enthusiasm manifests itself everywhere, which is very encouraging. OK engines will strengthen national and international karting.
The simplification for the new OK homologation will first result in significant time savings for the teams. The OK engines are a positive response to high level competition. The new decompression valve in OK will simplify the work of the tuners. Everyone will be on an equal footing and the expertise of some talented teams who could not keep up with the development of the KF could return to the forefront with OK.
The new OK regulations bring a longawaited simplification together with a lower cost of use. We can expect a great show and excellent revelations, as well as an overall increase in the level of competitiveness. I am very happy and looking forward to this change as the season begins.
Michel Vacirca, former top driver, team manager of CRG Holland who ran Guido van der Garde, Niko Hulkenberg and Max Verstappen at the beginning of their careers.
These new engines are a great opportunity to revive competition karting at all levels and to broaden the base of participants. All this is going in the right direction. The OK engines will allow many other teams to offer more affordable services than in the past thanks to the tight sales prices, and also due to a significantly lower operating cost. National competitions will be able to fulfil their role of training and selection, based on the real talent of the drivers.
INTERNATIONAL Ole Haug책rd (One Engines), Danish Vortex engine tuner, KF-Junior World Champion in 2015 with Logan Sargeant
I am delighted with the direction taken by the CIK-FIA. The simplified design of the OK engines has advantages. A return to basics was desirable after the excesses of recent years. A kart does not need a battery, complex wiring or a clutch to be efficient, quite the contrary. These accessories do not belong on a real racing machine. The OK engines will be much easier to use. For a private driver, competing and testing, simply put petrol in, check the carburettor and adjust the chain. A small push and presto, it's away.
Eric Verdaasdonk, VDK Racing Team Manager
Lowering the weight is essential for the performance and the pleasure of driving is greater. It is not a flashback to the time of 100cc. The existing engines are much stronger. An OK-Junior will be as reliable as a one-make challenge engine. The installation and maintenance of the OKs are much simpler. At national level drivers will be able to use this type of engine without a big budget. It is in this sense that the return to fundamentals is beneficial to the whole of karting.
Franco Drudi, karting director of TM Racing
Driving an OK will be much more rewarding than a KF As a passionate competitor, I am very excited by the OK engines, which are simpler and less expensive. Expect closer races than in the past, which is excellent news. The OK-Junior is very close to the old KF3 which was probably the best engine ever from the CIK-FIA regulations. High level competition will always be expensive, it cannot be otherwise, but the base of the pyramid should be strengthened with more affordable access to a large number of participants.

SUCCESSFUL FIRST INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR OK AND OK-JUNIOR
F
rom 4th to 7th February 2016 at the Adria Raceway Karting (ITA), the WSK Champions Cup hosted the first international Competition of the new OK and OK-Junior categories on the circuit that will host a European Championship Competition in June. Satisfaction was in good supply when the time to sum up arrived. The first positive point is the popularity of this opening event organised by WSK Promotion. The competitors were present in numbers despite a very early date: 38 Drivers in OK and 67 Drivers in OK-Junior were on track at Adria, significantly larger numbers than the previous events for KF and KF-Junior. Whether on a dry track or in the rain, no particular safety problems were encountered at the entrance to the track during the starting procedures or during racing. The Qualifying Heats and Finals were praised for their intensity and fairness. Spectacular battles, plentiful overtaking, a few skirmishes, is what was observed. The new engines bring notably increased performance in OK, in the range of 5/10 per lap at Adria, with a more measured but perceptible evolution in OKJunior. A last comment is that the four engine brands represented at Adria (Vortex, Parilla, TM Racing and LKE) appeared to be very close in performance. Â
Here are some testimonies collected during the Competition at Adria. Alessandro Ferrari, Race Director at the WSK Champions Cup "I admit I felt a little apprehensive for the emergence of the new OK engines in WSK. From the starts early on, I realised it was a success. Everything went well regarding safety, including for Juniors, which was crucial. I systematically gave two practice laps for Drivers to regroup, but they still need to make progress on this. Otherwise, we witnessed some
very competitive and fair races. Penalties for front spoilers were not very common in the dry. I am convinced of the success of the OK generation." Dennis Hauger, age 12, Norwegian, former 60 Mini Driver and OK-Junior rookie, CRG-Parilla "I love the OK-Junior. I did some tests in KF-Junior and I feel that the new category is faster. I have not tried to start my own kart, but I intend to prepare myself soon. The hardest thing for me is to get used to the intensity of the struggle in Junior, the machine is not a problem, anything but!" Gianni Palmieri, Vice-World Champion in Formula C in 1997, European Champion in Formula Super A in 1999, professional mechanic for 15 years. "The OK resembles in many respects the old 100cc, they are real racing engines, but with reliability worthy of our era. The kart is lighter, the front brakes are gone, performance has increased, it is a very good thing. For us, mechanics, the work is easier and it should normally be cheaper for customers. I'm glad that everything worked well for the first race. The push start is not a real problem, it's only a matter of habit. We will have to look after our physical fitness too!" Tom Joyner, World Champion in KF in 2013 "This first experience racing the OK engine was quite satisfactory. The different running with prototypes over the course of last season had not impressed me. Now that the engines are in their final configuration, it is something else. We can take advantage of the removal of the front brakes and the decreased weight. The kart is really efficient and very quick. It is a delight to drive. We still need to work to understand the intricacies of these new engines, but I'm sure in a few weeks we will be in focus."

2016 IKA-Kart 2000 Offenbach
THE KEY 100% KA T
he Offenbach show is not huge, but it is, by far, the most attractive and most popular of the genre. Visitors from many countries went there for the special offers, and to find out about the new chassis, engine, accessories, tools, clothing, circuit, etc. It is also a show where there are many meetings in the aisles and on the (almost) 500 stands. As it is not a race meeting, it is much easier to discuss things. The 24th edition of the Offenbach show was held on 16th and 17th January near Frankfurt, Germany. We expected a better staging of the new engines OK and OK-Junior engines as this was the first public presentation, but there was plenty to see in the field of competition as well as that of leisure.

SODI 2016: ALWAYS SEVERAL STEPS AHEAD T
he World leader in karting, Sodikart never rests on its laurels. The spirit of competition has been in its DNA from the beginning as evidenced by its everyday culture of creativity and innovation at all levels of its business. On an enlarged space and reorganised to show its status, the French brand has once again kicked off the 2016 season at the German show in Offenbach, the biggest show entirely dedicated to karting in the world. The Sodikart stand was impossible to miss, vast, elegant and functional, when arriving in Offenbach. Besides presenting the Rental and Racing ranges, customer reception has benefited from the expansion in 2016. The biggest global karting manufacturer was able to highlight its experience of over 30 years and its ongoing quest for quality, the result of incessant work on research and development, both in Leisure and Competition.

2016 Sodi Rental Range The undisputed leader in the world of leisure karts, in 2016 Sodi offers an evolution of its flagship models known for their ease on the track and serviceability, the GT4 R, GT5 R and the RT8 A. The "new generation" is a consolidation of the improvements with a series of technical and aesthetic improvements to make it even more
enjoyable to use. The 2-Drive has achieved a great breakthrough on the market for two-seater karts and its usage continues to spread, while the electric karts RTX and LRX remain top sellers in their sector.
The EMS breakthrough The big news in 2016 is the launch of a new system for regulating recreational karts. The EMS (Equality
Management System) has been designed to very easily balance the performance of Sodi karts in the framework of recreational races while simplifying the work for the pit crew. It is a small electronic box and a digital display, to be included on new models equipped with Honda 270cc and 390cc engines. Option 1 allows a rapid calibration accurate on a full fleet of machines so as to offer equivalent performance to the tenth of a second. Option 2
is a virtual lead box to compensate for the weight differences between the drivers in the same race within seconds. These settings are reserved for the circuit personnel and are protected by a special key. The EMS ensures extremely simple equality that has never before been reached between those competing in recreational races.
2016 Sodi Racing Range
2015 marked the revival of Sodi Racing Team at the highest level of KZ competition with many key successes, through close collaboration with the Research & Development department at Sodikart. Sodi drivers completed a beautiful formation finish in 3rd, 4th and 5th places in the World Championship at Le Mans.
The work done during the season at international races has led to progress across the range. The 2016 version of the famous Sigma KZ is a true copy of the model used during the World Championship, made with tubes of 30 mm in diameter. The Sigma RS also benefits from a new design of the front part to further improve its performance, and also facilitate entry of corners. The goal is to enable all drivers to use the potential of their chassis for the duration of the race, a gain reinforced by the set-up possibilities of the steering column.

ALPHA KARTING'S INTERNATIONAL EXPANSION CONTINUES K
nown for the distribution of a wide range of karting products and its online sales site, Alpha Karting has also been a manufacturer of karts since 1977. Its twin range of leisure and competition chassis combines performance and attractive prices. Based on these strong arguments, Alpha Karting has decided to increase its presence in foreign markets, one reason for attending Offenbach with a particularly busy stand. After the presentation of an importer in the United States at the end of 2015, DAMZ, 2016 continues the momentum with the announcement of an Alpha Karting importer on German soil with Walter Kart Service. Benoit Bremond, the president of Alpha Karting, details the objectives of the French brand: "The quality and positioning of our products needed new dynamic professionals for export, to complement the presence in France. This development phase starts now with our USA and German
importers. The show at Offenbach was particularly positive in that respect. It's a great satisfaction for us to see the attraction to our frames abroad. The Alpha Karting strategy is based on finding the best price / quality ratio for high-quality products that are able to attract a large clientele. With its manageable size, our company can easily listen to its partners and thus provide personalised service." The Alpha Karting competition range is led by the famous Black Tiger, vice European KZ2 Champion in 2014, and the 2016 release further enhances its ease of driving and development regardless of the grip of the track. This is the model that is used in all international categories, including OK and OK-Junior. Conforming to CIK standards, the Exos, which replaces the Target model, is designed for drivers in amateur competition and is perfect for classes that are not equipped with front brakes, while the Flash and Mini Storm are designed for
the Minime / Cadet and Minikart categories. Finally, with the Bambino drivers can learn the discipline from five years old. The rental range from the French manufacturer currently includes three models which share the same quality standards while having targeted characteristics.
The original Carbon.K in a new livery for 2016 offers comfort and unmatched driving pleasure alongside the Light.K, which is a very light and affordable model. Finally, the Mini.K with multiple settings can accommodate young people from six years old in the highly promising sector of junior leisure karting. Alpha Karting has also started a new collaboration with Sparco Karting for its entire clothing line and the official racesuits from the French brand appeal to many drivers. Based in Houston, Texas, Alpha Kart USA DAMZ Inc. aims to expand the Alpha brand both in the field of recreation and competition. At the legendary event of
the Supernationals in Las Vegas last November, Blair Hosie, an Alpha Kart USA driver, already achieved a very encouraging 7th final position, allowing him to finish 5th overall in the SKUSA Pro Tour championship in the Shifter Junior category. The new German Alpha Kart importer Kart Service Walter has significantly broadened the reach of Alpha Karting chassis in Germany thanks to its effective presence on the stand during the fair in Offenbach. His team will be very much present at German competitions of all levels with priority given to the ADAC Kart Masters and the ADAC Kart Cup.

Sami Taoufik (FA Kart / Vortex), known as Worship in 2015, and Ulysses De Pauw (BirelART / Parilla) were the frontrunners until the end of the races contested in the dry. In the rain, Ivan Shvetsov (Tony Kart / Vortex) and Finn Kenneally (FA Kart / Vortex) won the prefinals, but Kiern Jewiss (Ricciardo / Parilla), a British driver trained in the school of Rotax Junior, overtook on the last lap of the final ahead of Timothy Peisselon (FA Kart / Vortex) and Kenneally. In 4th, Charles Milesi (Tony Kart / Vortex) was one of the great entertainers of the category with Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart / Vortex) 5th.

PEISSELON STARTS STRONG AT ADRIA! Timothy Peisselon had already made a good impression at the end of last season at the same Adria track on his debut on a FA Kart / Vortex with the British RFM team. The first race in 2016 was in OK-Junior, and confirmed the burgeoning talent of the young Frenchman along with the wisdom of his team selection.
T
he 2016 WSK Champions Cup proved full of surprises. Facing some development problems, Timothy began with a relatively modest 16th in qualifying. Motivated to regain ground in the qualifying heats, he posted two good results (2nd and 4th), but also a retirement after a small contact on the formation lap of the last race. Although the intermediate classification showed no progression in terms of position (16th), the determination of the driver and the speed of his equipment was unabated.
Not at all disturbed by the arrival of the rain, Timothy already gained five places in prefinal B and reached 3rd position without making any mistakes. During a suspenseful final, Timothy fought right back into the top three after starting 5th. Visibly confident, he then went on the attack and seized the lead at the halfway point. While the victory was in sight, unfortunately he had to yield on the last lap against the formidable Kiern Jewiss and had to settle for 2nd place. "I am still very satisfied with my weekend!" Timothy said. "I encountered several problems at the beginning of the meeting: spark plug, valves, transmission, crash, but I was never discouraged. The RFM team did a very good job and I really enjoyed myself during the finals. I acknowledge that I could have been a little more aggressive to maintain the lead until the finish. This first international podium is very encouraging and a win is my goal for the next races."

FIRST ROUND OF 2016 GOES WELL FOR CHARLES MILESI AT ADRIA In the sun and the rain of the Italian circuit of Adria, Charles Milesi has shown great consistency at the front of the new OK-Junior category during the WSK Champions Cup, the season opening international race of 2016.
W
hat a change since the start of last season! Charles is now able to fully exploit the capabilities of his factory Tony Kart / Vortex in all circumstances. Already fast at the WSK Final Cup contested in November on the same track where he finished 2nd, the young French driver started on good foundations with the new OK-Junior engine which has replaced the old KF-Junior. Very fast during timed practice, he posted the 3rd fastest time in his group at only 24 thousandths off the best. Unfortunately, the track improved significantly for the second group and Charles found himself in 12th position. This slight disadvantage didn't prevent him from succeeding in three beautiful heats in the dry, finishing each time in 2nd place. In the rain on Sunday morning, he found his marks with a 5th place in the last heat and
attacked to take 2nd position in prefinal B. He started fighting when the lights of the final went out and led the first third of the race. Although he did not drop the pace, his opponents came back, taking advantage of a set-up probably better suited to the changing grip conditions and Charles had to settle for 4th position on the finish line. The results of this first race in 2016 remain broadly positive as Charles proved himself to be fast and consistent from beginning to end of the event against a high standard of competition, making no mistakes during the whole meeting.

PAROLIN ALREADY IN THE TOP FIVE IN KZ2 At the first competition of the year, the Parolin Racing Kart team recorded good performances in KZ2 with Lorenzo Camplese, in line with its title of CIKFIA Asia-Pacific Champion won last December in Macau. The 2016 season has started strongly for the Venetian brand as his driver took pole position in Qualifying and took a superb 5th place finish among the leaders in the category. After the good results achieved by our chassis last year, we decided to launch our factory team in major events in 2016," says Albino Parolin. "I think it's time to show the real potential of our equipment and support our worldwide dealer network. At the opening race at Adria, Lorenzo Camplese was immediately among the best. This is a very encouraging start!"
The WSK Champions Cup was run on the first weekend of February at the Adria Raceway Karting where the biggest European 125cc gearbox gathered. For the young Parolin Racing Kart factory team, the competition was very successful, in the dry and in the wet, and despite some setbacks, the overall result was more than satisfactory. In Timed Qualifying, Lorenzo Camplese was able to place his Parolin / TM / Vega at the top of the rankings in the strong KZ2 class with 33 experienced drivers. The poleman spent a sunny day achieving 2nd and 3rd positions in the Qualifying Heats before being slowed by a small technical concern. He started on the 3rd row of the grid for the Finals. "The start of the rain on Sunday morning didn't enthuse me!"confided Camplese. "I'm not a big fan of these kind of conditions and I had no experience with Vega rain tyres. Fortunately, I was able to start to find my feet after a difficult warmup." Indeed, Lorenzo posted the 6th time in the Prefinal and managed to finish 8th, a good result in light of his 19th fastest lap in the warm-up. Consistent and safe, the Parolin driver improved again in the Final, regaining ground up to 5th position on a slippery track, always behind a quartet of major champions. The Parolin KZ chassis demonstrated strong qualities at the highly demanding circuit of Adria against leading competition, as the team has just been put in place and the development work is just beginning. This first result in the top five is very encouraging before the start of the WSK Super Master Series in less than a month at Castelletto. Parolin Racing Kart team will be attending 2016 major events as WSK Super Master Series, CIK-FIA KZ European & World Championships and some overseas appointments as well.

F4 - EUROPE
2016 F4 IN EUROPE France has long been a pioneer in the field of single-seaters for young drivers. But since 2014, the FIA has taken the lead in proposing a common framework for F4, now accessible from 15 years old, which is still very young ...
S
even different championships will be held this year in Europe. In the FIA certified F4 family, Italy and Germany offer highly sought championships. Britain attracts many drivers with the F4 Ford EcoBoost and the NEZ championship is well established in Northern Europe. Announced for 2015, the Spanish championship will start in 2016. France continues to offer a very attractive turnkey formula under the umbrella of Auto Sport Academy, while the BRDC has other advantages with its powerful car, some little unconventional. The costs and the standard can be very different from one series to another, and a European confrontation on equal terms to establish a true hierarchy would be ideal. After a season or two at most in F4, drivers must then find a way to continue, mostly in FR 2.0 or F3, a popular category, again for two years.

FORMULA RENAULT 2 - EUROPE
FORMULA RENAULT 2.0 REMAI Formerly essential for climbing the ladder in single seaters, Formula Renault 2.0 is currently suffering from competition from both F4 and F3.
H
owever it is a very useful step in the young driver training pyramid. It is more interesting than the F4 with regards to driving and setup, and is significantly cheaper than F3, so the FR 2.0 still has no equivalent in the world.
INS VITAL IN 2016 Although Renault Sport will no longer run the famous FR 2.0 World Series, it still offers two very valuable championships, the Eurocup and the NEC, while the ALPS has had to throw in the towel for 2016. Through coordinated schedules, drivers can simultaneously compete in Eurocup
and NEC to total up to 14 races in the season on the major European tracks, including Monaco.
