RØDBY KARTING RING, a new circuit under construction in Denmark

The history of Rødby Karting Ring is not insignificant. Located in the far south of Denmark, the old layout had to be closed and demolished in 2015 to allow the construction of a huge bridge and tunnel between Denmark and the German island of Fehmarn, wellknown to European teams who board the ferry to Puttgarden to travel to Kristianstad in Sweden.

T

he need to build a new karting complex and funds allocated during the expropriation gave Rødby Go-Kart Klub ideas. Launching a search for additional funds to supplement their budget, the club members have developed a more ambitious project in the municipality of Lolland. Construction began with the installation of a noise wall on the north and east sides of the site. The plot has been developed by the Swedish Sweco AB company, already involved in the construction of the Kristianstad circuit. In connection with the CIK-FIA, the 1256 m track was designed by making the most of available space with priorities regarding run-off areas and restrictions in relation to kerbs to discourage the cutting of corners. The ambition of the new Rødby Karting Ring is to first organise national races, but also to attract international drivers. Thanks to its easy access and its proximity to Germany, the Danish circuit could accommodate a round of the DKM in the near future before aiming to organise CIK-FIA competitions. If the work schedule is met, the first race could be held before the end of the 2016 season.

THE FRENCH MOTOR SPORTS FEDERATION PRESENTS ITS 2016 SEASON 7 disciplines 27 Championships in France 1000 competitions: these are the main figures of the 2016 calendar published by the FFSA in the season’s Press Kit.

THE FRENCH FEDERATION MOTOR SPORT

Founded in 1952 and a delegate of the Ministry of the City, Youth and Sports, the French Motor Sports Federation is one of 200 National Sports organisations affiliated to the International Automobile Federation (FIA). The FFSA is giving continued attention to future challenges and is implementing a proactive and dynamic policy to ensure the detection, training, promotion and professional success of its top athletes, as well as the support of all stakeholders in French motorsport.

Each season, the Federation redoubles its efforts to go farther in sports and federal policy, in order to structure and democratise the sport, and to train practitioners and supervisors, particularly in terms of safety.

HANDSOME REWARDS FOR YOUNG FRENCH CHAMPIONS AT THE END OF THE SEASON

Info Kartcom - FrĂŠdĂŠric Billet

The 2016 French Champions in Minikart, Minime and Cadet and the winners of the NSK in the same categories will be invited to participate in the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Final held at Sarno (ITA) from 15th to 22nd October 2016.

HANDIGUIDE SPORTS Handiguide Sports is a website that aims to identify the sports facilities that host or have the capacity to accommodate people with disabilities.

T

he CNK has just validated a tempting offer from Rotax, after weighing all the arguments. The support by the Austrian engine manufacturer for all costs of the competition (excluding travel) was one of the positives, as was the indisputable sporting legitimacy of this extraordinary event where the Praga karts for Micro Rotax and Birel ART for Mini Rotax are identical and randomly drawn. This proposal is a great reward for the best young French drivers of the year and the CNK has given the green light for these hopefuls to participate in a renowned international event cheaply. For the record, the French Championship for Minime / Cadet will be held from 1st to 3rd July at Lavelanet (09) and the French Championship for Minikart will take place on 16th and 17th July at Mirecourt (88).

T

his database was created in 2006 and should identify associations who actively participate in the reduction of inequalities in access to sports for people with disabilities.

This site makes it possible to bring the sports that are offered close to where they live to the attention of people with disabilities.

HIGH SPORTING AMBITIONS FOR

SULEIMAN ZANFARI IN 2016 A young ten-year-old Moroccan driver, Suleiman Zanfari already has good experience of competition karting. In fact he started at the age of eight in the 60 Baby category in Italy. He then explored 60 Mini and Rotax Mini Max in different countries (Italy, Austria, USA, ...) and developed his skills with a very open mind and an unusual analytical ability. He now has the maturity to reap the fruits of a very full race programme in 2016.

C

arrying the colours of Morocco at the highest possible international level remains a major motive for Suleiman and his family. Although the Kingdom of Morocco has been well represented in the world of sport, in athletics and boxing, as well as tennis and football, it is always possible to improve the image of the country by producing outstanding performances in motorsport. In the wake of his elders Mehdi Bennani (WTCC) and Sami Taoufik (Karting), Suleiman Zanfari is looking forward to contributing to the sporting and media profile of Morocco. Suleiman is not an ordinary boy. For his 10 years, he has extensive knowledge of motorsport in general and karting in particular. He has an unbeatable knowledge of the performance of a large number of drivers and is very interested in everything concerning racing with a

concentration that commands respect. This season he is competing in Italian races for 60 Mini, on Energy chassis and IAME Parilla engine in the Giuliano Kart team. Suleiman brilliantly managed to qualify for the Final of the first round of the WSK Super Masters Series at Castelletto, despite very cold weather and a shortened schedule. He enjoyed more success in the second meeting at Sarno moving up to 4th position in Prefinal B and 8th place overall among the 80 drivers present. Delayed by an incident with an opponent on the third lap of the Final, he gained six places to cross the finish line in 13th place. Follow Suleiman at the circuits throughout the season and on his Facebook page.

SELECTED BY THE WOMEN IN MOTORSPORT FIA COMMISSION

Fourteen-year-old Shion Tsujimoto has been selected by the Women in Motorsport Commission to receive a funded drive in the 2016 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy. hion, from Japan, has been awarded one of the 51 karts in this year's Trophy as part of the Commission's on-going collaboration with the CIK-FIA to help young, up and coming girls progress their career in motorsport.

S

"It is now time for me to do maximum effort and learn a lot of things in karting," said Shion. "I have started to practice KZ too and I really want to improve my driving skill and show my speed. This is a great opportunity for me."

Shion's interest in karting dates back to 2012 when her father first took her to a race in Japan, where she was bitten by the motorsport bug. After lots of practice, she started competing domestically in 2013 and, in addition to outings in the JAF Junior Karting Championships, she contested events in Europe in 2014 and 2015, including all three rounds of last year's CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

The 2016 CIK-FIA Karting Academy Trophy takes place over three races, in addition to the official pre-season test session. Race weekends will also address highly-important issues relating to safety, driving conduct and the anti-doping code. All competitors will compete on equal terms in karts provided by the official equipment supplier.

KART RUNNER REA

ADY FOR ANYTHING With X30, X30-Junior, Junior-OK, soon OK and Endurance, Kart Runner taken to the national and international circuits in the early 2016 season, with interesting achievements to its credit already.

A

dam Eteki’s win in the X30 Challenge Europa is a great reward, as an engine tuner, for Olivier Bruneau. "Winning at European level in X30 Junior in our first competition in this category, against the experts, is a particularly tasty reward!" said the boss of Kart Runner. "Adam Eteki races with SG drivers, but have ensured that his engine is as good in X30 Junior as OK-Junior with Vortex. The Winter Cup also brought us satisfaction in this new category, with 11th in the Prefinal, and Adam was able to progress in the Margutti Trophy with a 7th place finish at the end." But don’t forget that Kart Runner is a complete racing team. At the first national race of the year, the Open Kart at Val d'Argenton, its drivers achieved very good results at the end of winter against some well-trained Belgian teams. Despite only one day of testing in the legs, Sébastien Gibier dominated the X30 Senior, while Brian Ancher showed a strong improvement by finishing 3rd in the Final. Brian recently collaborated with Kart Runner, with development, performance and race management since the IAME International Final 2015 which portends good things for the future. Both drivers then had their first experience in a foreign race in the X30 Challenge Europa in Castelletto, managing to qualify for the Final out of nearly 70 competitors, which is already a success. Held up on his fast lap, Ancher still set the 30th time and kept progressing in the heats. The team sought, in vain, to re-

gain performance for the Final to match Qualifying. Gibier gradually returned to the pace after a laborious start to the meeting and reached a very fine 12th place in Race 2, an unusual feat after starting with 60th in Qualifying! "I think we did a good job at Castelletto, both technically and on a human level," says Olivier Bruneau. "These two aspects are inseparable at Kart Runner. The season is just beginning and we will go from the X30 Senior Regional Championship of Ile-de-France to the IAME International Final at Le Mans via the French Championship. Our international programme will soon be reinforced with the preparation of William Bertrand for the European and World Championships in OK-Junior in addition to the engines for of Eteki, while Lilian and Rémy Fidèle will debut in OK along with Romain Despres in the 24 hours of Le Mans Karting, the unique event of the CIK-FIA Endurance Championship which is the focus of our endurance season." The Kart Runner team has chosen to focus its efforts on a limited number of drivers for efficiency reasons. However the engine business is running at full speed and Vortex OK / OK-Junior engines are available for hire, with carburettor and exhaust at a good value price equivalent to that of Rotax

BEYOND SIMULATORS

Arthur Pic, sponsor of the centre, Norman Nato, Hugo Valente and Victor Martins, accompanied by the Simumotion performance cell The structure created by Julien Abelli within Paris Kart Indoor in Wissous at first looks like a simulation centre for a public in search of thrills. But when we look more closely, the sophistication of the machines produced by Simumotion are beyond the scope of simple recreation.

REPORT

The public opening of Simumotion is obviously very important for the company," explains Julien Abelli. "Our simulators are known for pure competition preparation. They certainly have amazing potential for the general public, but they can be accessed from age seven years and over 1.30m tall." Although anyone can have a go as an individual or group on the Simumotion driving simulators, the heart of the project is both wider and more more private. A former top driver in karting, then FR 2.0 and Rallying, Julien Abelli developed his first machine by necessity. "When I was in FR 2.0, I did not have the budget to test as much as I needed to. So I worked to make my own simulator with my engineer of the time Yannick Hubert who now works at DAMS. It was not to build a toy, but rather a tool to compensate for my lack of running." And this prototype has been proven as Julien was able to compete on the circuit with his most renowned contemporaries (Monras, Vergne, Pic, ...) within the SG Formula team. So it is natural that Julien returned to

JULIEN ABELLI

the simulators when he hung up his driver’s helmet. He took over the design of a machine that was fully developed with an attractive look, to add to the enjoyment of exercising his racing skills. But soon, the potential of this first model made him want to go further in the field of competition. Thanks to his own career, he arranged decisive encounters like that of Alexis Landais, mental trainer and Julien’s renowned partner in the Simumotion company.

"This is where the project took off," says Julien. "I made a lot of mistakes in my racing career because I did not know the constraints of motorsport well enough. Looking back, I think that I would do things differently if I had the chance to start over! Seriously, I think we can bring a lot to the young competition karting drivers to prepare them to start in cars. Our structure allows to start early with very high efficiency compared to the money involved."

REPORT

What is it exactly? To get ahead, it's just a case of anticipating all of the parameters that affect young people starting out in motorsport. Driving a car of course, but also working with an engineer, working methods and analysis of data, etc. But that's not all, far from it. A driver is above all a human being who needs to adapt to specific constraints. First we work on mental preparation, Alexis Landais’ field of expertise where we are currently working with top drivers such as Norman Nato, Arthur Pic and Hugo Valente.

REPORT Norman Nato explains his choice: "I felt I needed a mental trainer it three years ago, when I was still in FR 3.5 World Series. Today in GP2, it's even more important to know how to use all ones capabilities to reach the objectives, ignoring external disturbances. Alexis has taught me a lot and I am still working with him. It's easier now that they have installed Simumotion because I can also train physically on their hardware and benefit from a highly skilled environment."

lise that their performance decreases throughout a race weekend. All because nobody taught them to feed themselves as athletes. In light of the efforts to run a competitive season, it's a shame to lose tenths due to lack of fuel for the body. In the same vein, the specific physical preparation for motorsport is not very common among young people. We provide them with specific tools to build muscle in the neck or arms, for example, in situations close to those during a race."

Simumotion has indeed completed the team's performance group which includes a physical trainer, a physiotherapist, a sports physician and sports nutritionist. "The nutritional aspect is often overlooked by young karting drivers," said Julien. "They rely on their natural vitality, but we often rea-

The Simumotion idea is simple. By working on the technical, mental, physical and diet aspects in advance, it is to give young drivers the best chance of a successful transition from karting to single seaters, without unnecessary loss of time and cost.

VICTOR MARTINS, NORMAN NATO, NICOLAS MARTINS, JULIEN ABELLI

REPORT HUGO VALENTE, ALEXIS LANDAIS This has been understood by drivers like Victor Martins, Thomas Imbourg and Evan SpenlĂŠ. "I noticed Victor last year during a recreational session on one of our simulators," says Julien. "His driving skills impressed me for a boy so young, especially since I knew nothing of what he had done in karting. We followed him during his last season in Cadet and we are continuing with it in OK-Junior. This is a long-term collaboration that we have started, but already Victor is harvesting the fruit. This year has been spectacular, and it's not finished! Thomas and Evan are in the same dynamic, and we hope to develop our business with this profile of drivers to give them a real advantage when moving to cars."

INTERVIEW

Organizer of two CIK-FIA European Championships in 2014 and 2015, the Kristianstad Karting Klubb is preparing to host the 2016 World KZ. Its chairman, Tobias Groth, met up with Kartcom at the La Conca WSK Master Super event to talk about the future of the Kristianstad circuit.

TOBIAS, TO WHAT DO WE OWE THE PLEASURE OF MEETING YOU SO FAR FROM YOUR BASE?

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS FOR THE CLUB AND THE VENUE?

- For an organiser, it is always interesting to see first hand what others are doing. WSK is renowned for the quality of its competition, Italy is the birthplace of karting and also a beautiful country to discover: look, it's already summer! Several good reasons to get out of Sweden, right? We will also be at Adria in June with a larger Swedish delegation.

- We believe that the club needs to be managed like a business in order to grow. This is an important step. For now it is a private structure, Ohlin Racing, and we delegate the leisure karting activity. Among our major projects, the construction of a large building housing an indoor track is being considered. This would extend the period of activity of the circuit during the winter months while providing higher availability for competition at the outdoor venue. In order to become a true private establishment with substantial resources, we plan to create a track for RC scale models and a rallycross circuit on the Åsum Ring site. Very dynamic, the Skåne and Kristianstad community and our ASN, the Svenska Bilsportförbundet, are willing to work with us on this type of project. To move forward, we have been inspired by the great success of the Handball club, IFK Kristianstad, where inclusive sports and popular success galvanize the region. There are many things to do here and the team wants to develop more activities. Our adventure is just beginning!

HOW DOES THE BIG WORLD EVENT IN KRISTIANSTAD LOOK? - The experience from the two previous European Championships allows us to consider more the organisation of the KZ World Championship in September more calmly. The feedback was very positive, both from the CIK-FIA and the side of professionals and drivers, and we are very motivated to do even better. The World label of the competition helps us to find partners, institutional and private, and to interest the media. The track layout has been slightly modified at the chicane to make it easier to recover after the double right. We will also install a grandstand for spectators at the mound. We are fortunate to host the Swedish Championship July 7th to 10th, 2016, including in particular the 125cc gearbox categories. Participating in this event might be interesting for drivers outside of Sweden, from Scandinavian and others from further afield. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the World KZ Championship or the International Super Cup for KZ2 especially as there is no major international race in this period. Moreover, this is the ideal time to discover the charms of the region, which it is not lacking, trust me!

Shvetsov Takes the opportunity for victory

I

t is true we expected Isac Blomqvist (Tony Kart / Vortex / Ward Racing) to be the winner of the Final after his beautiful dominance in the heats and Prefinal A, as well as the start of the Final. But Noah Watt (Tony Kart / Vortex / Baby Race), then 2nd, caused both of them to drop out during an attack after four laps, which earned him an exclusion. Ivan Shvetsov (Tony Kart / Vortex / Ward Racing) only had to hold off his compatriot Bogdan Fetisov (Tony Kart / TM / Team Komarov) to win the race ahead of Ulysses De Pauw (BirelART / Parilla), 3rd following a penalty for Pavel Bulantsev (Tony Kart / Vortex / Ward Racing). Winner of Prefinal B, David Vidales (Energy / TM) took 4th place ahead of the fastest man on the track, Dmitrii Bogdanov (FA Kart / Vortex / RFM).

But Nielsen and Tiene crashed in the Prefinal, causing retirement for the now angry Neapolitan. Then Joyner, leader of the Final, broke his engine on the penultimate lap, which delayed Nielsen behind him, and Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart / Vortex / Ward Racing) reclaimed the lead he had occupied until mid-race to win in front of two other young drivers, Clement Novalak (Tony Kart / Vortex) 2nd and Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Parilla) 3rd.

on the attack of Vesuvius

J

ean-Baptiste Simmenauer was comfortable in the rain during the free practice of the WSK Super Master Series at Sarno, only delayed by a crash in front of him on one of his fast laps. He then dodged all the traps during a competition full of twists, coming back close to the top five with impressive consistency. While the Neapolitan track still lacked grip, Jean-Baptiste was not in top form in qualifying practice with only the 18th fastest time. But in the qualifying heats, he got going well, the gaps tightened sharply and the factory Tony Kart driver moved into the top 10 without a mistake. Running at the same pace as his teammate Nicklas Nielsen, he regained much as nine places in the three races on Saturday. The sun continued to shine on Sunday at the foot of Vesuvius and Jean-Baptiste continued his ascent with an Olympian calm while the battle was raging in front of him. For example he posted the second fastest time in the Prefinal, the best performance from the Tony Kart Racing Team. The second round of the WSK Super Master Series ended for him with 6th place in the Final, while several top seeds had fallen in the fighting. The results of this weekend demonstrated the solidity of Jean-Baptiste against his most experienced rivals. Starting a long way back, he has managed a seamless progression to return to the forefront, ensuring a top five at the mid-point of the championship.

improvement confirmed at Sarno A

fter a frustrating meeting at Castelletto at a WSK Super Master Series round shortened by bad weather, Milan Petelet travelled north to compete in the first round of the Belgian Championship in Junior X30 at Mariembourg. The performance was there from the start with a 4th in Qualifying and a win in the first heat. He was then downgraded from 3rd to 19th position after a penalty in the second heat. Driving his factory Praga, Milan managed to come back to within 3/10 of the podium for the Final. The second meeting of the WSK Super Master Series had a bad start at Sarno. After a disappoin-

ting Qualifying on slick tyres on the still slippery tarmac (a last minute gamble in which the driver could not achieve anything), Milan was struggling in the OK-Junior heats, not getting anywhere despite his best efforts. With 42nd in the intermediate classification, the situation hardly seemed conducive to a result.

But undeterred Milan was off again on the attack on Sunday morning in Prefinal B and managed to qualify in 14th position after gaining seven places. With morale boosted by this result and the return to form of his machine, the factory Praga Kart Racing driver gave his all in the Final. Starting from 28th, he attacked as soon as the lights went out, taking

no less than 16 places in 12 laps.

"After a very difficult start to the meeting, the team worked hard to improve the equipment," confided Milan. "Finding a competitive kart has increased my motivation tenfold and I was finally able to race in the finals. I certainly do not have the best machine to win, but to go further and get closer to the top 10 gave me great satisfaction. It was not really possible to do better in these conditions." The driver’s confidence is back and he was preparing to compete the following weekend in the X30 Challenge Europa at Castelletto, a race he won last year.

SODI

at the forefront after time

The French team has displayed numerous performances throughout the sunny meeting at Sarno. Under the Neapolitan sun, Anthony Abbasse first took pole position in timed qualifying, while Bas Lammers set the best time of his KZ session. Jeremy Iglesias finished ahead in KZ in the first qualifying heat, Bas Lammers won the two other KZ heats and Abbasse was credited each time with the fastest lap. In the intermediate classification, three Sodis were in the top three places in the category.

t time e

T

he three Sodi drivers at the second round of the WSK Super Master Series have again been very convincing. On the fast track of Sarno, with temperatures rising, the Sodi Sigma KZ confirmed their great form of the early season in a spectacular way. Observers waiting to see the French chassis running on a long track producing high speeds like Sarno, in a substantially warmer weather, had to face the facts: the Sodis continue to fight in the vanguard of the top category of international karting. On near-standard equipment, the two drivers from the Sodi Racing Team and one from Team CPB Sport have successfully prepared for the major appointments of the CIK FIA European KZ Championship and the World Championship. The highly effective collaboration with the engine manufacturer TM Racing supports the work of the entire Sodikart company in this outstanding challenge.

Abbasse secured 2nd position in Prefinal A, while Lammers and Iglesias took a double in Prefinal B with the fastest lap to Lammers. The Sodi trio started the first round of the Final in that order. It must be recognised that the competition reacted after the Sodi victory at Castelletto, and Marco Ardigo managed to win this time at Sarno. Lammers was his most formidable rival, setting the second fastest time, until the engine warmed up and gave in because of a trivial water pump failure. Abbasse then took up the torch and climbed on the second step of the podium, with Iglesias finishing in 4th position. The third round of the WSK Master Series Super is already on the horizon and a spirit of revenge is animating the whole team. Abbasse has a good card to play in the Championship with his 2nd position, two points behind the leader, and may consider an overall victory. Lammers and Iglesias are ranked 4th and 5th in the Championship. LOGOTYPE PRINCIPAL

PAROLIN

Excellent performances badly rewarded at Sarno

W

hile the WSK Super Master Series began in the cold of Castelletto, the second round saw sun on the Circuito Internazionale Napoli. A new challenge awaited the Parolin team in KZ with Lorenzo Camplese the driver on the first fast track of the season. It is clear that the performance was again excellent, among the best specialists in the discipline. The race was unfortunately cut short for Camplese, who was a victim of a collision in the Prefinal. Despite the development work being disrupted by free practice on a wet track, Lorenzo Camplese's Parolin / TM was immediately on the pace during the official timed practice with the second best time in the KZ category 34 thousandths from pole position. The tone was set. Always among the top five in the field, the Parolin Racing Kart driver finished the qualifying heats in a good position, 4th, before tackling the final

stages with strong ambitions. He made a very good start in Prefinal A. As fast as he is determined, Camplese went on the attack without taking too many risks at the start. He had seized 3rd position on the second lap of the race when he was pushed and spun. He was able to restart, but had to retire shortly after. "It is a great disappointment," admitted Lorenzo Camplese. "This kind of incident should not happen at this level of competition. Until then, the meeting confirmed our competitiveness in conditions very different from those of the first races of the year, proving the quality of the Parolin chassis on any circuit. Although I completed just four laps in the Prefinal, I was able to set the second fastest time of the race. This means the potential was there! I am even more disappointed to have been forced to retire as it jeopardises our chances in the championship. I fi-

nished up in 11th place while I was aiming for the top five. That's racing though and we'll keep fighting to demonstrate the quality of Parolin Racing Kart product." Since the beginning of the season, Parolin has been battling at the front in KZ, the highest level of international competition, among the best in the discipline. The young Racing Team from the Italian brand has produced achievements in each of its races, highlighting the quality of the Venetian factory's products in the most spectacular way against the most experienced teams. It is a great satisfaction for Parolin Racing Kart to defend its colours in this excellent way and to support its customers in their wise choice. The adventure is just beginning, the best is yet to come!

Victory for Eteki In THE x30 Junior Challenge Europa

ADAMETEKI.COM

A

fter a strong weekend at Lonato where he finished 7th in OK-Junior at the Andrea Margutti Trophy, Adam Eteki changed category to X30 Junior for the start of the Challenge Europa. Unlucky at Le Mans for his first X30 Junior race last October, it was a superb contrast at Castelletto when he won among 65 of the world's best specialists in IAME racing. Adam had already posted a good performance on the 7 Laghi track in 2015, bordering on the top 10 of the Rotax Euro Challenge. But the situation was different last weekend when he took part in his second competition in X30 Junior against more experienced competitors. Ranked 8th in his Qualifying group, he took 17th place overall, 2.6 tenths off pole. Starting from 9th place in each heat, he managed to overtake regularly without being the fastest. In the top five at the end of the heats with 12 places gained, he could look forward to more interesting Finals. During Race 1 he achieved his best performance of the event by taking 2nd place and managing to resist one of the favourites until the end, the American David Malukas. On this occasion he posted the fifth fastest lap only 6/100 from the fastest lap. After a good start, Adam was heckled in the early laps of Race 2, but he didn't give up. He attacked to make up ground and was in the top five on the finish line, despite a slight decline in the competitiveness of his machine. His luck was good for once as he recovered 3rd place and won the Challenge after the first two received penalties. "The weekend was not easy!" admitted Adam. "The standard was immediately very tough. I was a little way off on pure performance early in the meeting and I had to fight at every corner to get back into game in the heats. The team did everything to give me what I needed to win and I never gave up. A big thank you to SG Drivers and Kart Runner engines. This is my first title at the European level, so there is a lot of satisfaction!"

Martins not far from European victory in X30 Junior T

he rapid progress of Victor Martins didn't go unnoticed at Castelletto where he came close winning in the Junior category in the X30 Challenge Europa. Stronger than ever before and more offensive in battle, the VDK Racing driver earned his 2nd place overall. He probably lost his chance of victory in the qualifying heat A vs C. Starting 3rd after Qualifying, he then took 2nd and 1st, but Victor lost a few places at the start of the third lap before being a bit optimistic about a manoeuvre on the last lap, while holding 7th. It cost him dearly as he was only 14th in the intermediate classification. Victor is not the type to give up and he began his comeback with no less than eight places gained during Race 1 by finishing 6th. He continued at the same pace in Race 2 and battled with an assurance which he had not displayed at this level before in the top three until he crossed the finish line in 2nd position. He was then declared the winner after the leader was excluded for overtaking under the first yellow flag. Adam Eteki also took advantage of the situation to win the Challenge while Victor was quite happy to get on the 2nd step, highly commended for his overall performance. Victor will mount his Kosmic / Parilla again in OK-Junior this weekend on the unique configuration of La Conca where the usually strong grip should provide a new opportunity to enrich his experience.

the winning streak continues! W

inners of the IAME International Final 2015 at Le Mans, Vincent Fraisse and Sodi clinched a new victory in the first big event of the year, the X30 Challenge Europa, which just ended on the Castelletto track (ITA). In the presence of nearly 70 X30 Senior drivers and 18 different brands, Sodi has clearly imposed, thanks to Ludo Racing driver, winning the final two races. The love story between the Sodi chassis and X30 does not date from yesterday. Indeed, it is the 3rd victory of a chassis number 1 World karting in the most competitive category of the X30 Challenge Europa Vincent Fraisse at the wheel of a machine prepared by Ludo Racing. Organised for the second time on the circuit 7 Laghi Castelletto, edition 2016 gathered a total of 239 drivers from 27 countries. The fight for victory in Senior pitted this year mainly French and British very sharp. The Sodi Sigma RS 2016 has proved its value beyond doubt, on equal terms with its competitors, everyone is equipped with the same mechanical IAME X30. Vincent Fraisse is regularly mounted in power throughout the event. Author of the 8th clock Friday, he reached the top 3 in each of his innings to grab the 3rd through Saturday ranked position. The fight was intense during the 1st race Sunday morning, with several lead changes and tighter spreads. Fraïsse cleverly regained the lead on the final lap and won the first victory of the day while having achieved the second fastest time despite goings. Race 2 was more clear, Fraïsse being checked in the lead for 17 of 20 laps. He assured the triumph of Sodi crossing the finish line more than 1.5 '' ahead of his rivals and clinching be doubled with this winning first place in the X30 Challenge Europa 2016.

"Winning at this level still offers great satisfaction, I can not get enough! "Confided the triple winner. The complicity that has developed over the seasons with Ludo Racing facilitates development of the work and I am sure to have the best conditions to compete for victory in the finals. " In addition to his success in KZ at the highest level of international karting, Sodi attaches great importance to its victories in one-design classes such as X30 where the quality of its products helps to make a difference to equal engine. If the steering count for much in this kind of test, the chassis plays a vital role. D

istanced at Sarno, Logan Sargeant (FA Kart / Vortex / RFM) took a brilliant revenge at La Conca, on the track where he was crowned Junior World Champion in September 2015. After a clear round in the lead, he won the final by over 3'' ahead of Tom Joyner (Zanardi / Parilla), his most serious rival. Clement Novalak (Tony Kart / Vortex) again took a podium, while Pedro Hiltbrand (CRG / Parilla), in 4th, is still leading the championship but now under direct threat from Sargeant.

fter pole position for Flavio Camponeschi (CRG / Parilla) in Qualifying, Marco Ardigo (Tony Kart / Vortex) won everything in KZ. But the battle was tough, especially against Jordon Lennox-Lamb (Birel ART / Parilla), very forceful, who finished 2nd by 15 thousandths behind the winner, followed by a few lengths by Ben Hanley (Croc Promotions / TM) more at ease in KZ than KF this year. JĂŠrĂŠmy Iglesias (Sodi / TM) and Bas Lammers (Sodi / TM) - who posted the fastest time in the Final - were delayed by various incidents and Anthony Abbasse (Sodi / TM) finished only 7th, but kept the 2nd place in the championship, far behind Ardigo. Leonardo Lorandi (Tony Kart / Vortex / Baby Race) won the KZ2 category against Giacomo Pollini (CRG / TM / Renda Motorsport) and Luigi Musio (CRG / TM / Palmisano).

2nd OK win for Sargeant T

he Ricky Flynn Motorsport team has negotiated the introduction of the new CIK-FIA categories perfectly this season. Powered by One Vortex Engines with the FA Kart chassis, the British team are already among the contenders at the highest level of international competition. At the third round of the WSK Super Master Series at Muro Leccese, Logan Sargeant took a landslide victory in OK while Sami Taoufik seized the lead of the OK-Junior championship thanks to his 2nd place in the Final. Winner of the World KF-Junior Championship at this same track last September, the American Logan Sargeant is already fast in the higher category, the new OK. After winning the opening race, the WSK Champions Cup at Adria, Logan dominated the meeting at La Conca, achieving a perfect score from Qualifying to the Final. The fastest driver of the meeting, he emerged with the fastest lap and a lead of 3s on the experienced Tom Joyner. Of the six drivers entered by RFM in OK-Junior, the Moroccan Sami Taoufik confirmed his great form for his second season with the British team after his victory at Castelletto. Winner of two heats and the Prefinal, he entered the La Conca weekend in 2nd position, not far from his main rival. This excellent result allows Sami to take the lead of the standings of the series going into the concluding stage. The other five Junior drivers are new recruits at RFM. The Briton Fin Kenneally, the winner of the Winter Cup at Lonato, fought hard to finish 6th in the Final after posting the second fastest time in Qualifying. There was good progress for the Australian Oscar Piastri who was 5th in th ranking after the qualifying heats before taking 8th place in the Final. The German Niklas Kruetten made a superb recovery from 17th to 6th position in the Prefinal, while the Russian Dmitry Bogdanov finished 3rd and the Frenchman Timothy Peisselon 5th. The Final was however punctuated by numerous incidents on track and these three young drivers didn't achieve the expected results. With its recent success, RFM will now prepare the for the first round of the DKM German Championship at Wackersdorf in early May before setting sail for Spain and the Zuera circuit for the inaugural race of the 2016 European Championship.

AND PROMISING MEETING CHEVALIER

CARS

Four races, four podiums! The 2016 season has started very positively for Hugo Chevalier in the French F4 Championship, on the Paul Ricard circuit at Le Castellet. In the federal series that has revealed so many great champions of car racing, the Haut-Savoyard has impressed observers with his adaptability and speed. The rookie is already in 2nd overall position and the top French driver.

A

young karting talent from 2010 to 2015, that Hugo Chevalier did not miss his debut in single-seaters is the least we can say. No less than four podiums rewarded his work and efforts in recent months. "From the beginning of the meeting, I felt comfortable in my car. I was able to fully exploit the grip of the car and the tyres. Immediately, I set the fastest time in free practice," commented Hugo. On this legendary Paul Ricard circuit, there was a qualifying session and four races on the schedule, organised in the framework of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).

Four compelling results

After setting the third fastest time in qualifying at less than a tenth of pole position, Hugo Chevalier had legitimate hopes of the podium. "I made a good start in Race 1 and I was quickly able to put pressure on the American Benyahia. I passed which ensured 2nd place." His performance in Race 2 would be even more impressive. "With the principle of the reverse grid for the top 10 in Race 1, I had to start from 9th position. I had a good feeling, despite the few drops of rain that fell during the race, and I moved up to 2nd place." The next day, Hugo repeated his performance of the day before, again climbing to 2nd place twice with equal gusto. In front of him, Ye Yifei was faultless, but the Chinese driver has already raced F4 throughout the 2015 season and is a benchmark in this group. "Yifei took advantage of his experience during this first event, but I never stopped reducing the gap to him throughout the weekend. I was even close to taking the lead in a race."

A first very positive assessment

The smile on Hugo Chevalier's face on the podium and during the Sunday evening press conference spoke volumes about his satisfaction. "I achieved the goals I set for myself before arriving at Le Castellet, i.e. to show that I was one of the contenders for victory. I finished all my races on the podium, gained a lot of experience, made good starts and several overtakes, without making major mistakes. Between races, there was continued physical and mental work with my coach, Didier AndrĂŠ, which helped me with focus, confidence and consistency during the race. The feeling was great with the Auto Sport Academy team and with my mechanic. Studying the data acquisition has been successful. I'm really pleased." Hugo Chevalier will participate in one of the legends of French motorsport in 2nd position in the provisional standings: the Grand Prix de Pau (13th-15th May). Summary Round 1 - French F4 Championship at Le Castellet (1st-2nd-3rd April 2016) ... Qualification: 3rd - Race 1: 2nd - Race 2: 2nd - Race 3: 2nd - Race 4: 2nd - Interim Championship: 2nd

F4: An essential stage

Since Franck Montagny, the winner in 1993, Auto Sport Academy has seen dozens of current champions: JeanEric Vergne, StĂŠphane Sarrazin, Pierre Gasly, Charles Pic and SĂŠbastien Bourdais. It is this unique training centre and the FFSA French F4 Championship as Hugo Chevalier has chosen to jump into the deep end of car racing and realise his dream of climbing the ladder to become a professional driver. The car used is a Signatech F4 to FIA standards. It is equipped with a Renault 1600cc 160 hp engine capable of reaching 220 km / h. The cars are drawn randomly between all drivers to deliver perfect equality among all competitors to showcase the best talent.

UBLE PODIUM AT LE CASTELLET FOR MICHAEL BENYAHIA

CARS

The promising young Moroccan motorsport hopeful Michael Benyahia began his second strong season in singleseaters in the French F4 Championship. At the opening meeting in 2016 on the Le Castellet circuit, he played a leading role with new enthusiasm, and was rewarded with two 3rd places after the first two races. His impressive progress during the off season now opens up new horizons.

A

t only 15, Michael Benyahia already has seven years of experience in karting. After a remarkable debut in the Rotax Micro and Mini Max and as well as TaG Junior, in the Florida Winter Tour and SKUSA, he obtained a significant 6th in Mini Max at the Rotax World Finals in New Orleans in 2013 before competing in the 2014 CIK-FIA Academy Trophy in Europe. In 2015, he took the challenge of venturing to take his first steps in single-seaters as the youngest driver in the French F4 Championship organised by Auto Sport Academy under the aegis of the FFSA.

Although incomplete, his first single-seater season allowed Michael Benyahia to learn the basics of car control. Actively supported by his coach StĂŠphane Daoudi, he was able to use his new skills to prepare for 2016. During the winter training he took a new step in the control of his car, a Signatech with a 1.6l Renault engine with 160 hp, capable of reaching 220 km / h. From free practice, Michael showed auspicious speed that was confirmed by 4th position in official qualifying. In the enthusiasm of the first race of the season, Michael avoided the pitfalls and quickly joined the top three well away from his pursuers. He drove well to take a podium for the first time in his young car racing career. This excellent result was not a fluke as he confirmed it in Race 2 in much less favourable conditions. Indeed the format of the French F4 Championship sets up a reverse grid for the second race of the meeting and this time Michael started from 7th position. Despite an eventful race in the pack and the intervention of the Safety Car, he again reached

the podium, less than a second off the 2nd-placed driver. The two Sunday races were disrupted by various incidents. Michael's car would not start on the grid for Race 3 and he was forced to start from the pits with a significant delay from his opponents. He nevertheless managed to return to 11th position. With very little luck in Race 4, Michael met with a driver who had braked too early at the second corner and he had to return to the pits to replace his damaged front wing. The mishap cost him more than two minutes and deprived him of any chance of a good result. The first round of the 2016 French F4 Championship has proved that Michael Benyahia now has a place among the best drivers in the field. His improvement during the off season has been remarkable. The first results of the season enable him to set the target of a place in the top three at the end of the year.
