Support the School’s 1 to 1 iPad and BYOT program in Teaching and Learning. Your device should be used for: o Completing educational activities in both class and home. o Using the Internet in an appropriate manner – report inappropriate websites to teachers immediately.

Unless directed by your teacher, no audio or video recording should be done on school grounds. If directed by your teacher to film, observe the following conditions: o Obtain permission from individuals prior to any recording in both audio and video for all projects. o Recorded content should not be published without the express permission of your teacher.

Responsibility for your device should be taken. o Carry your device in a cover that will protect it during day to day use. o Ensure you have access to your school work in a well organised file structure. o Think and learn responsibly. Think deeply, reflect often, and consolidate your understanding. o Acknowledge all sources of information when your work is not original. o Avoid damage to your device by keeping food and liquid away from it. o Recharge the device battery each night. Charging will not be available at school. o Back up the device each night. Use iCloud/ iTunes or an external hard drive. o Use appropriate virus protection software if you are participating in the BYOT program. o Do not disrupt the class with technology problems, ensure you continue to participate until your problem can be resolved. o Respect copyright laws by managing what media and software you use and share in an ethical manner. o Always keep your passwords secure, apply a lock to the screen of your device. o Ensure that you are proud of your digital footprint. o Lock your device in your locker during recess and lunch. Enjoy the company of your friends. o Ensure you protect your body by observing good ergonomic practice. Sit at a table to use your device, keep your back straight and use a keyboard for extensive typing on a tablet. o Make sure your device is either in your locker or in your possession. Remember, do not leave it unattended. o Be proactive in learning ICT skills and developing your understanding of how to use your device effectively. o Ensure your device is clearly labelled with your name. o When at school, use the school internet provided for you. No alternative internet is to be used on any device. o Respect and care for your property and the property of others.

Social Media Policy and Guidelines Social media definition: the various online technology tools that enable people to communicate easily via the internet. Social networking sites include but are not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Tumblr, Formspring, YouTube, Pinterest, StumbleUpon, Instagram, Snapchat, Flickr. • • • • • •
Students are not to access Social Media sites during the school day. Images, audio or visual recordings of students recognised as Queenwood students are not to be posted on Social Media sites. Images, audio or visual recordings of Queenwood staff are not to be posted on Social Media sites. At all times, students are expected to represent the school in an exemplary manner online and to use Social Media and email appropriately. Bullying will not be tolerated in any form at Queenwood. In using all forms of technology, students should ensure that they do not circumvent technology protection measures.
When using Social Media, students are expected to ensure that they: • • • • • • •
Maintain an appropriate level of privacy. Settings should not be open or public. Respect the rights and confidentiality of others. Post content that is not hateful, defamatory, threatening, abusive or that intimidates. Use language that is not offensive or threatening to others Only publish information or images that are not confidential Be honest. Do not say anything that is dishonest, misleading or untrue. Do not impersonate or falsely represent another person. Be aware in your communications online. Do you really know who you are communicating with?
