December 2017

Update Changes to T3 lanes between Balgowlah and Neutral Bay from January 2018 The Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore has a revitalised transport network with more than 3,200 extra weekly bus services (including 2,000 weekly B-Line services), as part of the new timetables effective 26 November 2017. As part of the B-Line program, there are a series of road improvements across the Northern Beaches and Lower North Shore designed to help traffic flow more easily. This includes converting sections of the T3 Transit Lanes along Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation and along Spit and Military Roads into AM peak bus lanes to help improve bus service reliability.

From 15 January 2018, the existing citybound T3 lanes will be converted to bus lanes in the following sections: • along Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation (from Condamine Street to Sydney Road) • along Spit and Military Roads (from Spit Junction, Mosman to Watson Street, Neutral Bay) The new bus lanes will operate during the morning peak period from 6am to 10am weekdays.

Why is a bus lane needed in these sections?

What does this mean for you?

Changing the T3 lane to a bus lane will complement the infrastructure being built to prioritise bus services as part of the B-Line program.

Plan your trip, travel outside peak times when you can and use public transport. Visit livetraffic.com or download the Live Traffic NSW app for up to date traffic information.

Who can use a bus lane? Bus lanes are provided primarily for buses but can also be used by taxis, hire cars (but not rental cars), motorcycles, bicycles, emergency vehicles, special purpose vehicles and vehicles operated by or under the direction of Roads and Maritime Services. General traffic is also permitted to travel in a bus lane for up to 100 metres in order to turn left into or out of a side street a property adjacent to the bus lane.
