Assistant to the Director of Curriculum Role Description The Assistant to the Director of Curriculum provides administrative and organisational support to the Director of Curriculum and will also occasionally help with Reception duties when needed. Reporting Relationships The Assistant to the Director of Curriculum reports directly to the Director of Curriculum for academic administrative support. At times s/he will also be directed by the Deputy Director of Curriculum and Deputy Principal (e.g. when required to cover Reception duties) and ultimately by the Principal. Hours of work This is a part time position (0.6 FTE), 9.30 am-2:30 pm, including some work in the school holidays. Remuneration The salary will be Level 3 Step 1 Senior Clerical Assistant on the MEA scale, which equates to a salary of $65,851. Role Responsibilities -

Deal with telephone enquiries, respond to queries or transfer calls where appropriate Take messages and pass these on to relevant staff Perform administrative duties when required to do so, such as filing, printing or photocopying Perform administrative duties for the Director and on occasion the Assistant Director of Curriculum Manage and maintain assessment and curriculum documentation, calendars and handbooks in consultation with Heads of Department and Director of Curriculum Manage the diary of the Director of Curriculum Maintain the administrative system and records for all staff professional development attendance, teacher accreditation and the Queenwood Dialogue and Development process Perform administrative duties for the Director of Curriculum for the recruitment process of staff Arrange appointments with parents, staff and students for the Director of Curriculum throughout the year, and follow up with records of conversation and meeting notes as required Manage the subject selection process for Year 10 students by preparing required documentation and arranging appointments with parents and girls Prepare academic transcripts for local and international scholarship and/or college applicants on behalf of the Careers Advisor

Manage excursion applications and liaise with staff to ensure all documentation and preparations are completed in order to comply with school policies and regulations Generate parent contact lists for the Queenwood Parent Association Manage the required administrative preparations for staff development days, meetings, parent information evenings and other curriculum related events Be prepared to work as part of a team and fill in for Reception staff in case of absence or illness Any other tasks as allocated by the Director of Curriculum or Principal

Personal Attributes              

High level organisational and planning skills Ability to multi-task in the busy and often unpredictable working environment of a secondary school where no two days are the same Ability to work independently Excellent telephone manner Confident use of written English A sensitive but confident approach in dealing with girls, staff and parents Outstanding work ethic and a willingness to work flexibly when required, for example in periods of staff absence Collegial attitude to work and a good sense of humour Initiative, perseverance, attention to detail Excellent knowledge of ICT, including but not limited to proficiency in the use of Outlook and Excel Ability to respond flexibly, calmly and authoritatively in unplanned and complex situations Ability and willingness to evaluate and critically reflect upon own professional practice Ability and willingness to contribute positively to the life of the School Ideally (but not essentially) experience in a similar working environment.
