Co-curricular Music Lessons Terms and Conditions Private Music Lesson Rationale     

Scheduling follows the Queenwood School Calendar. There are approximately 38 teaching weeks in a school year split into two semesters and four terms. Co-curricular music lessons are initially offered as 30 yearly or 15 semester lessons. Pro-rata lessons are available mid-term and reflect the number of cocurricular music lessons remaining in that year/semester. The reduced number of co-curricular music lessons compared to normal teaching weeks allows for lessons missed due to sickness, sport carnivals, excursions etc. Lessons are offered on a rotational system throughout the school day. Fixed out of school lessons are available only to those students learning two instruments.

Student Absences  

  

All correspondence to music tutors must be through the music tutor’s Queenwood email. Neither the School nor the absences email is responsible for co-curricular lesson arrangements or notifications. If your daughter is involved in Queenwood related activities e.g. school excursions, assessment tasks, incursions etc., it is the student/parent’s responsibility to give the music tutor at least one week’s notice. Where sufficient notice is given, a lesson missed may be moved to another day; however, this will be subject to the music tutor’s availability. If your daughter is away due to illness, it is the student/parent’s responsibility to notify the music tutor, using the music tutor’s Queenwood email, before the commencement of the school day. Where adequate notice is given all efforts will be taken to reschedule the lesson; however, this is subject to the music tutor’s availability. Lessons missed due to withdrawal from Queenwood will be forfeited. Absences due to lifestyle choices (e.g. holiday during term time, family celebration) will be forfeited. Students who forget to attend scheduled lessons shall forfeit that lesson.

Music Tutor Absences 

Your daughter’s music tutor will notify you by email of any lessons that need to be rescheduled or that he/she will be unable to teach.

Other Information  

Students who forget their equipment (instrument, music, etc.) will still have their scheduled lesson but it will be a non-practical lesson. Music tutors will collect students in Years K – 4 for lessons. Students in Years 5 - 12 are expected to be responsible for remembering their own lesson time.
