Head of ICT Position Description Role Description The Head of ICT is responsible for information and communications technology infrastructure at Queenwood. The Head of ICT will play a significant role in establishing the framework for the school’s current and future ICT needs in both the Junior and Senior Schools, and ensure that Queenwood is well resourced to meet the educational needs of students in the area of e-learning technologies. Reporting Relationship This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of Curriculum for all aspects of ICT relating to the curriculum, and ultimately responsible to the Principal. On a day-to-day basis, s/he will also lead the ICT team and work closely with the Senior School and Junior School Digital Integrators as well as Heads of Department. Role Responsibilities Management/Administration Ensure efficient operation and integration of all ICT systems, including telephones and photocopiers, so as to support all aspects of the School’s operations. Provide all necessary advice, support and management to facilitate the effective and seamless integration of technology in teaching and the curriculum. Ensure that ICT infrastructure supports the School’s programs and that users are appropriately supported in using ICT, developing skills or resolving problems. Manage purchasing, licensing, compliance, security, maintenance across all ICT systems. Manage the ICT team to achieve outstanding performance. Manage the smooth implementation of major projects and upgrades, including training needs for all users including students, staff, parents as necessary. Maintain accurate records of spending, assets, policies etc. Work with the Director of Curriculum to understand staff needs for ICT advice and training and ensure that training needs are met, including induction for new staff. Manage the technical aspects of online testing (eg NAPLAN), reporting and assessment and other core school activities. Effectively manage human, material and financial resources in accordance with School policy.

Policies and Planning Advise the Principal on long-term strategy and planning for ICT to support effective teaching and administration. Incorporate both current and future ICT needs into the planning and management of ICT infrastructure. Offer intelligent, up-to-date advice on all relevant aspects of technology to teaching staff and management. Work with the eLearning committee, Director of Curriculum and Principal in order to develop and implement a comprehensive ICT strategy that will encourage teaching of the highest quality. In conjunction with the eLearning committee, Director of Curriculum and Principal, play an active role in developing policies and practices to guide the effective and secure use of technology across the School. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to the use of ICT and ICT infrastructure and advise the Principal on related matters (eg the need for complementary staff training). This list of duties is not exhaustive and the Principal may require other duties from time to time and duties may change according to the changing needs of the School. Experience and Expertise
Highly desirable: degree or other qualification in ICT and/or minimum five years’ relevant experience. Experience in management of an ICT team and/or ICT technical support. Broad understanding of all modern IT concepts - you will be the technical expert on all school ICT matters. Thorough knowledge of storage, print, & cloud technologies. Thorough knowledge of LANs, WLANs & VLANs. Strong experience with server OS and Active Directory. Thorough knowledge of identity management, data security concepts and implementation. Familiarity with and ability to support both Windows & Mac desktop OS.
