QUEENWOOD SPORT COORDINATOR Role Description The Sport Coordinator is responsible for the daily management and organisation of sport in the Senior School, as well as assisting the Director of Sport in the efficient running of the School’s programs. These programs are an integral part of the co-curricular offering at Queenwood, and are designed to foster in students skills and qualities that will equip them for purposeful and fulfilling lives: responsibility, team work, interdependence and leadership, and the promotion of health, wellbeing and enjoyment of physical activity. The Sport Coordinator will work an average of 38 hours per week, to be distributed Monday to Saturday. Some reasonable additional hours and some work on Sundays or public holidays will be required in this role. As the work arises primarily during term-time annual leave must be taken outside term-time and the Sport Coordinator will be stood down during holidays when not required. The Sport Coordinator will work for a minimum of 44 weeks per year and a typical pattern will be to work throughout the school term and for one or two weeks of each school holidays. Reporting Relationships The Sport Coordinator will report to the Principal or her delegated authority, typically the Senior School Director of Sport. Role Responsibilities The key responsibility of the Sport Coordinator is to manage and deliver high quality coaching programs across multiple sporting disciplines at Queenwood. To this end the Sport Coordinator will: Coach training sessions where required. Maintain bookings for Queenwood sporting facilities, and online sports registrations. Promote the Queenwood Sports Program. Assist the Director of Sport in the delivery of an engaging and challenging 7-12 sport program aligned with the School’s sporting philosophy, goals and strategic plan, including positive selection process. Ensure that the program is appropriately differentiated according to diverse student abilities. Ensure that information about the programs is communicated in a timely and effective manner to students, staff, parents and third parties Establish business relationships, including local coaching as well as high level associations e.g. Netball NSW Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and the school community while abiding by School policies and objectives. Develop structures that assist with the smooth implementation of the program, including supervision of casual coaches. Produce timetables, rosters, programs, checklists etc and ensure all equipment is cared for, and replaced when unsafe. Organise sporting events such as sports carnivals. Manage special events, workshops, trips, tours for competition and training some of which may take place in school holidays. Attend meetings and events as required, such as IGSSA / IPSHA committees. Monitor specific sports within the program and evaluate their success.

Key Competencies Experience in coaching and management of multiple sports. Strong understanding of the vision and direction of the Queenwood Sports Department. Strong understanding of the physical, mental and emotional development of young people. Strong computer and administration skills. Capacity to produce structured, detailed plans and reporting. Ability to work independently and actively assist in pursuing new members. Flexible working hours. Personal Attributes Strong commitment to the development of physical activity in girls, and a view of sport as an avenue to increased physical activity. A sensitive but confident approach in dealing with persons of all ages. Excellent communication skills plus the ability to respond flexibly, calmly and authoritatively in unplanned and complex situations.
