Dans son travail, David Drebin associe avec originalité voyeurisme et psychologie. Il offre au spectateur une spectaculaire plongée dans des émotions et des expériences que beaucoup d’entre nous ont sans doute connues à un moment ou à un autre de leur vie. Après avoir obtenu le diplôme de la Parsons School o f D e s i g n à N e w Yo r k e n 1 9 9 6 , D a v i d D r e b i n s ’ e s t f a i t r a p i d e m e n t u n n o m c o m m e p h o t o g r a p h e d ’ a r t d e stature internationale.

Les photographies de Drebin sont grandioses, fortes et, surtout, cinématographiques. Dans un style unique et somptueux, il met en scène des femmes fatales avec, pour gigantesque toiles de fond, des v i l l e s c o m m e H o n g K o n g , N e w Yo r k o u P a r i s . D e p a r l e u r s d i m e n s i o n s , c e s m é g a p o l e s c o n s t i t u e n t u n hommage au cinéma, et ce sont leurs panoramas qui servent ici de décors de plateau. Avec leurs tours imposantes, les villes fournissent à l’imagination du spectateur un terrain de jeu presque infini. The panorama of the big cities which due to their format, are a tribute to cinema, serve as cinematic settings. With their impressive skyscrapers, they provide the viewer with a nearly infinite surface for the imagination. The distinctive tension and depth in his pictures arise from the free combination of such d i f f e r i n g t o p i c s a s h u m o u r a n d s e x , m e l a n c h o l y a n d s e x , a n d m e l a n c h o l y a n d h u m o u r. H i s l a n d s c a p e s , often feeling more like Dreamscapes are collected around the world.
