affirmeD BEST MAN X TRIPLE CROWN

Pre-Order: $300 | Overrun: $200 | Last Call: $100

The excitement and anticipation of making this one available has been so high that we haven’t hardly been able to stand it! This boar and his litter have been special since a very early age, and the presence this one brings offers nothing like we have ever had here before! This one is without a doubt the best Crossbred hog produced at Adam Beck & Family Showpigs, and we are very proud to have him highlight this fall set! Sired by the legendary Best Man and out of a Triple Crown sow that come from Swenson, this one is a genetic powerhouse. AFFIRMED is an absolute stout creature, when you talk about heaviness of bone and ruggedness of skeleton. Huge legs, massive feet and big bones construct this one’s skeleton. Busted open at the ground off both ends while keeping his hocks and knees square. Great athleticism when in motion and power that is incredible. Shape and mass make up the top side of his skeleton, and he is loaded with rib shape and dimension. Awesome showpig look up front with a stout, yet extended skull! This one is about as complete and fault free as you can make one! AFFIRMED has us excited about the future of our Crossbred program both here at Crossroads and ABF. This one will be heard from and will leave his mark! Get in on him while you can and head straight to the backdrop!!!

The Fall Classic in Duncan, Oklahoma, is always one of the most highly anticipated events in the showpig world. The number of hogs and amount of people that fill that place, every fall, is certainly a spectacle. This is due, largely in part, to the depth of quality that shows up year in and year out in both the breeding hogs and weanlings. When the dust settled on Friday evening, it was beyond apparent that the buzz was all around the mature Crossbred boar show. Breeders and staff both were excited about how good the show had been. Many saying that it was the deepest Crossbred show maybe at any NSR event ever held!? While depth was fun to look at, the individual that garnered the most attention was the Champion of the show from Midwest Genetics. When Steve brings one to a hog show they are always good, but chatter here was that this could possibly be his best one yet. With great hogs like Monumental coming from his program; that’s a huge statement! Heading into the Fall Classic, we made our goal to thoroughly address our Crossbred program and add some elite headliners that could take us to the PINNACLE of that arena. Quite frankly, we agreed with that statement of many and made it our mission to bring this one home to IN. It took $85,000 to load him on our trailer, and we are beyond thrilled to have this one in our stable. A huge thank you to Steve Cobb & Family and Heimer Hampshires for teaming up on this monster. You can rest assured, he’s going to see some great sows! Sired by Beyond, one of the dynamic Cobb duo at PBG, and out of a really good Hillbilly Bone X Super Monster sow. Steve tells us there are a trio of these sows at his place that are going to make a statement for years to come. This one has been called the best boar to show in several years! This is due to the mass and stoutness this one possesses combined with dimension and build make him unique. Tall shouldered with a good, stout look will make PINNACLE a barrow sire supreme. His huge bone structure and stout skeleton grab your attention quickly. Bold rib cage and great muscle expression with a huge back and hip. Stride that is athletic and fluid when set into motion. We think PINNACLE can hit a big time homerun for us. If you’re serious about making crossbred hogs that can win the biggest shows out there, then you need to make that your PINNACLE to reach! Call that cliché if you want, but ask anyone who attended Duncan this fall, PINNACLE is the real deal!!!

The Crossbred Classic was very good to us this year in terms of laying in quality herdsires that will make the next generation better! The calico Rodibaugh boar was very high on our list and took $23,000 to secure. POCKET TEE has us very excited in the way he combines muscle mass, squareness and look all in a sound and mobile package. That cool “get you noticed color pattern with an awesome, trendy look should make him be on your short list! A huge thanks to Rodibaugh for retaining interest in him! Judge Ryan Stohlquist called him a changer and mover, and we feel he is exactly that! Futuristic in terms of look and extension up front. A hog that truly runs up hill and has a big chest. Monster bones and big feet make this one stout. The right frame size and length to make dynamite barrows. Sired by the impressive Best Man son, Outmanned, HOSTILE has a big time generating pedigree! Momma is an incredible sow that is front pasture kind and littermate brother wins his class at the Iowa State Fair. Hostile will make that next generation of show pigs more elite!!!

Tall fronted with a stout, good look and level design. Big thanks to Dennis Woodson for purchasing part of him! blue chip SKYWIRE X NO FARE X UP GRAY’D

Pre-Order: $200 | Overrun: $100 | Last Call: $75

We all know that when evaluating hogs, color is often the first attractant that draws your attention. We had heard from some very reputable breeders that Mark Hurd had a really good blue crossbred boar on feed that we needed to see. When we visited Mark’s and he ran BLUE CHIP out, it was no different in this situation. His cool, blue-spotted pattern immediately caught our eyes. Beyond that, this one simply amazed us due to his massive bone structure and huge foot. This Skywire X No Fare X Up Gray’d son truly fired us up! His build and design were immaculate, and his flexibility of skeleton was flawless. This one is tall shouldered and dead level down his spine. He truly runs uphill the way he extends out through his head and neck. At the ground, this one is square coming and going. BLUE CHIP excels in the way his hock stays inside his skeleton, his joints are clean, and he flexes with ease. Muscle shape and mass are good for a stress negative boar and really adds to the balance this one brings to the table. In an industry that we feel is headed to hogs that are tall fronted and stout that can motor, we feel BLUE CHIP is going to be one to help head us in that direction. If you’re one that wants to play for the big banners, then make sure your lineup is full of BLUE CHIP caliber show hogs!!!

The Crossbred boar show at Duncan is always one of our favorites of the year as the atmosphere is crazy, the crowd is huge and the hogs are really deep in quality! This year was no exception to the normal. While the buzz was around a couple unique boars towards the top of the show, we kept our eye on a solid white one that RW Genetics had in the fight. A boar that we felt could make barrows like crazy with his muscle shape, and then offer added value to make those Southwest classifying Yorkshire barrows due to his color. Snagging him up for $7,000 was a bargain, and we are excited to offer him. MAVERICK is sired by Mr. Jones, the popular Mr. Wolf son at The Stud. His mother is a purebred Yorkshire sow that has been one of the really good ones in the RW herd. Sired by Saddle Up, she has produced the boars Concrete, 137-5, and Mista Bone (littermate to MAVERICK). In our conversations with Rick and Niki, they tell us that she is one of their building blocks that they are relying on heavily. MAVERICK is very unique in how he offers shape and muscle with extra rib and mass. Opened up in his skeleton with extra width but still gets out and handles it. Good designed from the side, being level made and good looking. Stout in his feature and bold in his makeup. A balanced kind of hog that we feel can make that real good kind of barrows! Powerful pedigree and strong phenotype make MAVERICK a must use, if you want to make those elite barrows that can go out and win shows!!!

blinDsiDe VISIONARY X DEUCE BIGALOW X TOXIC 28-3

Pre-Order: $200 | Overrun: $100 | Last Call: $75

Sometimes we find things when we least expect them. This was certainly the case when we stumbled upon this monster crossbred boar in Southern Ohio! Adam was judging in the area and got asked to come take a look at a boar on feed for the Expo. It didn’t take long for him to know we needed to bring this one to Clayton. A big thank you to Carter & Aly Schulte for inviting us to come take a look at this one! BLINDSIDE has a pedigree that is both popular and loaded with generations of genetic giants. Sired by the very popular Visionary boar, not else much needs said there. The sow side is where things get very interesting for us. Her pedigree reads Deuce Bigalow X Toxic 28-3 X Bulletproof. This makes Blindside’s pedigree combine some of the greats including Hillbilly Bone, Alias, Toxic, Eye Candy and Bulletproof, to name a few. The Toxic 28-3 sow was a high dollar baby that came from Ogle that was sold bred to Warren Bros by Beck & DWE. The Bulletproof sow was the Champion at Expo several years back that originated from Cobb. The Warren’s then, in turn, sold the Deuce Bigalow gilt at the Crossbred Classic where she brings $4,500! Now that that’s out of the way, Blindside is one we absolutely love from a build and look standpoint. One that truly is tall fronted and runs up hill while being level from blade to hip. Awesome show hog look and extension up front. Big and square chested and leaves the same way. Extra flex and reach to his hocks and plants with authority behind. Big, shapely back and hip with a monster of a rib cage. BLINDSIDE is so balanced and complete in all aspects! We think this one has big time potential to set the standard for today’s showpigs and we expect big things to come from him. Glad to have him locked up and ready to be a headliner this summer! If you want to eliminate the competition and knock down anyone in your way, hit them from the BLINDSIDE!!!

When the Ottenwalter crew loads up to make the cross country trip from California to Indiana, you can rest assured they will have a good set in tow with them. This year was no different, and many will agree that they may have brought one of their best ones out yet, in their Colt 45 son they exhibited this go round. It took $36,000 to secure this class winner’s new address as Clayton, IN, and we could not be more excited! Colt 45 needs little to no introduction to the showpig world. His successes on every level have been earned by elite ones. They say behind every great boar is a great mother, and the same lies with STANDOFF. She is a Monumental X Shoot ‘Em and a littermate to the Champion Division 1 Hamp Barrow at the 2014 OYE. His grandmother is a littermate to Shooter and California Kid. Russell and Mark felt this was one of the most exciting ones they had exhibited in a while, and we couldn’t agree more. The way this one combines and balances, in terms of heaviness of structure, mass, and design are superb. Extremely tall fronted and cool headed with a jet level look from the side. Square and true at the ground with big feet and legs. Athletic in the way his stride hits the ground. From a firm that knows nothing but success, we are confident that this one will generate those big time show hogs. Go toe to toe with the competition, and come out a winner with STANDOFF!!!

The only boar of the Crossbred Classic that you could breed the every sow to and not go backwards was the response of many in attendance in Indianapolis. If you were asleep or out in left field due to a long week of shows, when this Korb Farms entry hit the ring it made you RISE ‘N SHINE. Sired by Wake Up, the popular sire at The Stud, and out of a Bone Thug mommy, this one has to get you excited. In our discussions after the show of this stress negative stud, Ogle made the comment, he is the one that has the bone and stoutness we all look for coupled with the height of shoulder, squareness, and build that is necessary to win the big ones! We were all in agreement and felt he was one that needed to join the battery in Clayton. $57,000 later we held our bidder number high. A BIG THANK YOU to the Rodibaugh crew for teaming up with us on this one. He will see great use in Rensselaer. Huge feet and monster legs with great build and flex of skeleton. Tall fronted and dead level with a shapely back and hip. He is a totals kind of hog, a balanced kind of boar that will make the right kind to feed. Not extreme in any one area just extremely good! RISE ‘N SHINE possesses the traits to make you excited to do exactly that. He will take you in the right direction! Get up early and eliminate the competition right off the bat with RISE ‘N SHINE!!!

clean slate SECOND CHANCE X REFRESH X SHOOT EM

Pre-Order: $150 | Overrun: $100 | Last Call: $75

After the Crossbred show at the Fall Classic was over, we had about 5 boars circled that we needed to take a closer look at. Once we kicked them up in the barn our list quickly became 2 that we felt could plateau our Crossbred program to the next level. One of those being the Champion Boar, Pinnacle, and the other being the Kendall Whittington entry. CLEAN SLATE flat out blew us away with what he had to present. A different pedigree is what we most quickly realized about him. Many times, different can be good, and that’s what many felt like this one brought to the table. A pedigree that reads Second Chance X Refresh. These are both boars that Kendall owns. Second Chance is white boar that is an Untouchable X Shoot ‘Em. Refresh is a belted boar that is a Rename X Deep Pockets X Super Duper that came from Coulsons. The mother of CLEAN SLATE is a Refresh X Shoot ‘Em. That excites us as it adds two shots of our old Shoot ‘Em boar in there, and we all know the value of Shoot ‘Em females! This boar was 3rd in class, behind the Champion and Reserve, and garnered the attention of many. This one was so impressive to view back in the barn. Massive backed and huge centered with awesome power. The front end extension and look to this thing is wicked. Literally, one that runs up hill. If he doesn’t add that awesome show barrow look that we all try to make, we aren’t sure there is one out there that will. Dead level and cocky. Huge legs and feet that flat out cover some surface. CLEAN SLATE was an easy decision for us to want to add. Amongst our crew at Duncan, we were a house divided on which one we liked the most. Special thanks to Robin Ridge Farm and Gentry Genetics for teaming up with us on CLEAN SLATE. We feel this one will make those show hogs that will honestly do as his name implies. Another big leaguer that we are fortunate to be able to offer you. Clean out your competitors with CLEAN SLATE!!!

strikin matches MONUMENTAL X TOXIC 28-3 Pre-Order: $100 | Overrun: $50 | Last Call: $35 BREED>> Dark Crossbred STRESS>> Negative BRED BY>> Midwest Genetics OWNED WITH>> Nelson Bros. Genetics

Steve Sell’s Midwest Genetics is a program that has always been on our radar, and one that we have followed closely long before the formation of Crossroads Genetics. Steve always presents a good set of hogs at any show he attends and is consistently at the top end of every sale program. His genetics can be found in many pedigrees of many stud boars, sows, keeper gilts and barrows across the country. We have had a couple boars here that consist of his genetics and are ones that have garnered a lot of success for us. When he drove STRIKIN’ MATCHES out into the ring at the 2014 Crossbred Classic, we automatically circled him as one to kick up after the show. This one grabbed our attention for being extra extended through his head and neck, while being level from blade to hip. This one, at the ground, was as sound and square as you could make one. He has a big center body cavity with great muscle shape down his top. When we got him out in the back, we were amazed at actually how big his legs and feet were and how much of a ditch he had down his back. This one strolled up and down the concrete with ease and had square, even toes on all 4 corners. We love STRIKIN’ MATCHES from the side for having that extra showpig look with awesome body depth. We love this one’s pedigree as he Grand Overall Barrow is a Monumental X Toxic 28-3. Two of our most popular and consistent generators here are out of those ‘16 Southern NM State Fair 2 boars, so we cannot wait to see what this one does with that combination. We feel this one can make Shown by Dylan Cometti a great set of crossbred show gilts while still siring enough stoutness and shape to make those big time Bred by Shannon Barbee Showpigs show barrows. Thanks to Heath Nelson and Nelson Brothers for partnering up with us on this dynamite Sired by STRIKIN’ MATCHES crossbred sire. First off, we would like to thank Ottenwalter Showpigs for teaming up with us on this powerful herdsire! SHOOT ‘EM was hands down the most talked about Crossbred boar in Indy! Many called him a freak of nature or the extreme different one of the show! This all stems from the MASSIVE amount of bone that makes up this one’s skeleton. We are in agreement, as we have never seen a hog with this much pipe under him and couldn’t be happier that he found a new home in Clayton! SHOOT ‘EM leaves you in awe with his incredible stoutness, but when you look past that, he offers much more! He is a wide made hog that is square built and moderate framed. This one comes at you with a monster chest and leaves you with a big, square, shapely hip. He is chiseled down top, bold in his rib, and opened up in his blade. Tie to his cool, youthful look and added style, and we feel like this one has many attributes to make some changes! If you’re serious about hunting down the big win and tagging purple banners then just SHOOT ‘EM!!!

INDIAN OUTLAW X ROYAL FLUSH

Pre-Order: $300 | Overrun: $200 | Last Call: $100

The Duroc boar show was power packed and deep on the green shavings at the 2016 Summer Type Conference. There was a great set of breed improving sires to select from, and we feel loaded up strong! One of the headliners of this event was the entry from Don R. Smith. This Indian Outlaw x Royal Flush son created a buzz amongst breeders for his ability to combine heaviness of structure and flexibility of skeleton, while tying in a great show hog look of length and extension to his front end. BEAR CLAW is our $35,000 STC purchase and is one that is massive in terms of back shape and muscle expression. He is big and bold about his center rib shape and has great depth of body while still maintaining idea length and extension to his spine. Square built at the ground, square in his hock with ideal foot placement. To add fuel to the fire of excitement, the littermate sister to BEAR CLAW was named STC Champion Duroc Gilt and went on the become the record-selling Duroc female bringing $35,000! She was exhibited by Hadley Hendrickson and was purchased by Adam Beck & Family Showpigs. Indian Outlaw was not one that will have tons of numbers in the breed as this was his only litter, but his quality and legacy will make an impact! Reserve Champion Duroc Barrow 2016 California State Fair Littermate to LEAD OFF

When we made our annual trip to Sibley to go through Beyers Farms and to pick up Different Deal, Brett had told us about a young boar he had there that we needed to see. Already adding 6 new Durocs to the battery since Expo, another red wasn’t necessarily a high priority but when he ran this one out it immediately became a necessity that we take this one home too!!! LEAD OFF, as his name implies, is exactly that caliber of boar! A legit headliner in a deep set of Durocs on stud here! Extra stout in his feature with huge bones and feet. Busted open with width and power and gets out and handles it with ease. Extra good look up front with great shape of muscle in a moderate framed package. This one will make an impact! Sired by the late Franchise, a Lifetime son that Beyers had, and out of a Shiftin’ Gears sow. She was the very successful show gilt for the Rash Family last summer that was numerous time Grand Overall on the ICPA! LEAD OFF comes from a great litter that includes the Sam Smoot barrow that was Reserve Grand Overall at the highly competitive Delaware Co. IN 4-H Fair along with being in the top 5 of his division at Louisville! A littermate sister was campaigned successfully for the Wheeler Family in IL on the ICPA and another littermate was the Reserve Champion Duroc Barrow at the California State Fair! Power in the blood on both sides! We are beyond excited to have this one here and be able to offer him to you. This one will be very popular! Lead the charge to the backdrop with LEAD OFF!!!

Every once in a while you stumble across a diamond in the rough or come across something that has been unknown to the general public. These things can reap big rewards that can become valuable to the masses. This is exactly the case when a red boar was discovered in Northeastern Oklahoma. Our good friend, Mike Fagg, made us aware of a video of a very intriguing red boar that offered a different pedigree to our stable here at Crossroads. On the way home for Duncan, Mike stopped in at Joe Cunningham’s place and looked at him, and right away, felt he needed to be made available to lots of sows. We picked him up on our way home later that day and couldn’t be more excited to have this one here! If you’re a fan of the show AMERICAN PICKERS, then it’s easy to figure out the meaning of his name. We feel this boar fits the concept of that show perfectly! AMERICAN PICKER Reads with a pedigree of Can’t Stop X Straight Jacket. Bred by Joe Cunningham, he comes from a very successful and deep litter. He had 2 littermate brothers that won their barrow classes at OYE in 2016. Phenotypically, this boar is flat out impressive to view. Huge boned and stout featured with a great running gear. Square and true in his skeleton with a perfect set and flex to his hock. This one can reach out and grab some surface. AMERICAN PICKER is immaculate in his presence as he is tall shouldered and level designed with great front end extension. He has great mass and dimension to his center body. Super balanced and complete kind of boar that we think can be a big timer! If you want to make red hogs that can be very valuable in the ring, you don’t have to go digging through and bunch of old stuff; just let AMERICAN PICKER be your guide!!!

When one thinks about very talented, young breeders within the Duroc breed that have experienced early successes, then Kolb Genetics quickly has to become a key conversation piece for that discussion. A firm that over the last couple years have consistently brought out a good set of breeding stock that have been well received. Several boars in studs and many banners hung at a variety of shows. The key component to their successes is the set of King sows that they have in production there. If you trace their program, it doesn’t take long to discover their influence there. No matter what Kurtis has bred them to they have worked well! The case was the same this summer at Louisville. He drove a pair of littermate boars sired by Off Label 15-3 out of one of the famous King sows. While the other fared better in the show, we latched on to this one as soon as he hit the ring. A deep, competitive class kept this one down the line and out of the sale, but fortunate for us, we were able to get him secured that evening. The buzz after the show was strong, and this boar made several conversations so we knew we had something here! Thanks to Kurtis for sharing him with us and retaining some ownership along with Beyers Farms and Robin Ridge Farms for partnering with us on him. The Off Label lineage needs no introduction to recent successes in the Duroc rings, and the King sow that is the mother of Buried Alive is the best one of the bunch. She was a highly successful show gilt winning many shows, but her production legacy is outdoing her show career. She is the mother of Red Label at Triple B and the $6,800 Sr. Champion Gilt at the 2014 IN State Fair. BURIED ALIVE is one that you have to get excited about if you like red hogs that are stout boned, good built, and shapely. He has huge feet and big toes with monster legs. Flexibility and length of stride is ideal and one that opens up with good width at the ground of both ends while staying square in how he hits the ground. Tall fronted and great looking up front while being level down his spine. Shape and mass in the center portion of his body makes him and super balanced and complete one that defies the odds. We think BURIED ALIVE holds his own in this very deep set of red boars and is one that can move you forward. If you want to hang big banners on the biggest stages, then make sure your competitors are BURIED ALIVE!!!

The Duroc boar show, no matter what the venue, is always good, but the WPX this year was way good and way deep! The Johnson Coy hog hit us like a ton of bricks early as he was 2nd in class 1 to the eventual Reserve Champion! Sired by New Direction, our $29,000 STC purchase, FREE AGENT was purchased as a baby at our annual Go Big Go Home Customer sale from Hill Showpigs. The Light ‘Em Up sow is a great one in the Hill herd as she has been a big time generator! She is known to them as Queeni. Queeni is a littermate to the Reserve Lightweight Division Champion at San Antonio 2015. Queeni is also a full sib to Revenge at Cain Super Sires, and the $9,000 Gilt that sold in Louisville in 2014. FREE AGENT is next level good in terms of build, balance, and design! Tall fronted and jet level with freakish look. Great shape of muscle with a big square hip. Big chested and busted open both coming and going. Huge bones and big feet. Flexibility and squareness that will set him apart! This one will be a big time addition to lead the charge of a deep set of Duroc boars here! If you’re in the game of landing the big prize, make sure you sign a FREE AGENT to your show team!!!

The passion and pride for the Duroc breed runs deep in our program and through our families’ histories. It’s one that we have set out with a huge focus on to strive and offer the best boars we can find in this breed. Fortunately for us, we have been lucky enough to experience a good deal of success in this breed, and that in turn, creates maximum demand for Duroc boars amongst our customers. This goes hand in hand with building a good relationship with breeders and fieldmen, both, and generates interest in getting the good ones laid in here. Those that have been to Duncan, know how hectic this event can be to get everything seen. Sometimes ones are missed in the ring that place on down the line as we visit with customers or watch other breeds show. A big thank you goes out to Brett Beyers and Brian Anderson for acting as a HEADHUNTER and making us aware of the Palmer entry at the Fall Classic. This one had them fired up, and we knew we needed to get him to IN. Thanks to everyone that made this whole deal come together. HEADHUNTER brings a unique pedigree to our stable of boars for what we’ve had to offer. Sired by Break’N Out and out of an Off Label sow. His mom was the Champion at the 2014 Arkansas/Oklahoma State Fair and grandmother was a littermate to their very popular Fall Classic entry in 2012. A littermate barrow to HEADHUNTER was a class winner at the 2015 American Royal. We are excited to have HEADHUNTER to offer and love what he brings to the table. Much like his name implies, he is a tall shouldered, up headed kind of a boar. One that runs up hill with incredible show hog look. Level made and great designed from the side, with a square made kind of skeleton. HEADHUNTER has a big back and shapely top and hip. He is busted open coming at you and maintains that advantage going away. Flexibility and range of motion make this one a powerhouse kind of barrow sire in our minds. Stout skulled and rugged made. We think this one will fit right in and help us continue to roll our red program forward. Again, thanks to Brett Beyers for teaming up with us to get this one locked up. If your business is making red hogs that sift through the competition and do so with a high head, then make sure you load up with a HEADHUNTER!!!

Grand Overall Gilt & Champion Duroc 2017 Southeast Regional Shown & Bred by Travis Hamilton Sired by NEW DIRECTION

The Duroc breed is one that we’ve invested a lot of effort towards being able to offer what we feel are some of the best boars in the breed. We have been fortunate enough to lay in some big time sires that have went on to generate success for our customers. In breeding hogs people tend to follow hot genetic lines, and then, always look for that outcross pedigree to make the next generation better. When we studied the Norman boars at Louisville, we felt this was that step to take in terms of an outcross for the popular sires already standing here. Sired by Slats, this boar is quickly making a name for himself. The Challenger dam is a good one as she is the Reserve Champion STC Gilt from last summer that Foridce sold for $18,500! Amongst the group of boars they had there, we felt NEW DIRECTION was the one to lay in. The way he combined a true width advantage at the ground with a shapely, great built skeleton was impressive. It took $29,000 to secure this one and are glad to have Robin Ridge Farm as a partner with us on him. When we study NEW DIRECTION, his freedom and ease of movement is impressive. He is big footed and big legged and plants them square and true. From the side, he is tall fronted, dead level and has an awesome look. This one balances extremely well and puts together some impressive pieces that are hard to find in the Duroc breed. This is one, we feel, can be the next elite one for us and take Duroc hogs in a NEW DIRECTION!!!

If one were to set down and start compiling a list of firms that continuously breed champion Durocs, it wouldn’t take long for the Beyers name to keep repetitively popping. This firm has probably hung more banners from coast to coast than any over the last decade and do it more consistently than most. Brett is a good friend of ours, and during one of our conversations, he made mention of a very unique boar they had raised. He said this one was by far the heaviest boned one they had ever made and still had the look and sound skeleton that has propelled all the Beyers hogs to the winner’s circle. He mentioned that he was going to breed several sows to him, and that there was enough for us to know we had to go look at him. When Brett drove out SHIFTIN’ GEARS for us, you could see the excitement he has for this one all over his face. Much like the Fordice family, the Beyers’ pour their heart and soul into make Duroc hogs better. It definitely showed in our evaluation of this Milestone son. SHIFTIN’ GEARS is one absolutely huge boned, big footed red boar. He has big toes that are even and square and point the correct direction on the move. He strolls around the surface on a square made, truly flexible and comfortable skeleton. From the side, he is ideal in body length, while being long and level about his hip and tall fronted with extra extension from his blade forward. Show hog look comes in a big package here too as he is as cool headed as they come. This one has a big center body cavity that is deep and dimension. This is one that ties everything together in a complete balanced package. SHIFTIN’ GEARS is sired by the Beyers’ boar, Milestone, a Flash Drive X Integrity son that defines the philosophy of their breeding program. This boar’s mother is a Full Shift X Prenup sow, with the grandam being a littermate to Timberwolf. We would be the first to tell you that we didn’t need to necessarily add another Duroc boar with the lineup we already had in place, but when you find one that is this unique from a breeder that we have more respect than measurable for and can advance the breed the way we think he can, it’s hard to pass on that opportunity. Many thanks to the Marty Fordice Family for knowing the potential this one possesses and investing in him with us. If you have the goal of making Duroc hogs that have that extra shot of stoutness with a motor that can take you to the next level, then you may want to make sure you are SHIFTIN’ GEARS all the way to the purple banner!!!

Most people will spend their entire lives breeding hogs trying to make that one freak show breeding piece that goes and sells for a lot of money; while others will spend their lives just breeding good hogs trying to make their herds better in terms of consistency, productivity, and durability. Guys that take the latter approach are often the ones that consistently find the winner’s circle and often help improve and move that breed forward. When you travel to the Fordice Family’s farm the latter approach bleeds from there passionately. Marty, Lee, Cory, and the rest of the crew there devote their lives to being successful in the Duroc breed. You can see it on their faces and hear it in their voices, when you visit with them about their hogs. When Marty called us and told us that they had a pair of Light ‘Em Up boars that we needed to go see, we didn’t waste much time in doing so. When he drove LIFETIME out of the barn, he floored us for the way he combined the Light ‘Em Up power and mass and the Fordice flexibility and mobility, look and design. He had an incredibly flexible skeleton that was square and wide both coming and going while possessing those extras in terms of rib shape and dimension along with lots of muscle volume down his top and back into his hip. He came at us with a huge chest floor, and from the side, gave us that tall shouldered, extra show hog look that can be hard to find in this breed. They drove this hog in the yard for a long time as we discussed and analyzed him, and he never once took a bad step or got tight in any joint. Yes, LIFETIME is a littermate to the highly successful Jaxon Parmley show gilt that was Reserve Champion Duroc and 3rd Overall Gilt at the 2014 NJSS and also the Grand Champion Gilt & Champion Duroc at the Indiana State Fair Jr. Show. The cool thing about LIFETIME for us is the mass number of key foundation sows his mom has back in her pedigree. She is a Flash Drive X Integrity and a littermate to the 5th Overall & Champion Duroc Gilt at the 2013 Indiana State Fair Jr. Show. That Integrity sow is 14-11 and along with her and 14-10 (Magnitude’s Mom) they are the key foundation sows that have generated a lot of banners for the Fordice family. Without going way back generation after generation of the sows behind LIFETIME, just know that he will be a flat generator and a token for the term behind every great boar are great sows! Marty and Lee told us that day we were there that they had spent a lifetime trying to make a boar like this one, and we sure are glad they did. Don’t get left behind and miss out on trying to build that “one,” just try to make better hogs and do it with LIFETIME!!! The Look At Me mother is the Reserve Hampshire Gilt from the 2013 NJSS shown by Kendall Smith and was only beaten by her littermate sister that Spencer Malcolm drove. That pair, bred by Watson, was incredible and are doing great things in the Smith herd. The Sterling Silver grandmother is a foundation sow for Watson and is the mother of Silencer that stood on stud here and did a great job! SCORE BOARD is incredibly massive and stout everywhere. Huge bones and feet with a stout and powerful skeleton. Big and robust in terms of center body. Extra shapely down his spine and back into his hip. SCORE BOARD is designed great being tall shouldered with a great look. Athletic in terms of his build and flexibility. When you discuss Yorkshire programs over the last several years that have experienced lots of success, WIU quickly falls into that conversation! A firm that’s made lots of genetic influence, in recent years, by producing big time show hogs have done it again with this stud of Yorkshire boar! The Yorkshire show at the World Pork is always exciting and always full of quality. This son of the $270,000 In Control bested them all to be named Champion Boar! The Moonshine sow this one originates from only sweetens the genetic potency of this sire as Moonshine was one of the most dominant sires of the breed in recent years! We’re excited to be able to offer this one to you! NECK NATION gets you excited really quickly in terms of being one that is extra stout and heavy in his structure. Big feet and big legs with a robust kind of skeleton. Opened up and square off both ends allows him to be one that can get out and take a long fluid stride. Tall shouldered and level down his spine from the side. Stout skull that still reads with great look and extension. NECK NATION has a huge rib cage with great mass and center body. We feel this one has tons of upside potential and is one that can go out and make a killer set Yorkshire showpigs! Our goal for our Yorkshire program in 2015 was to search for boars that offered that extra shot of length and extension up front but still have that same kind of shape and power on a flexible skeleton that we love. The Yorkshire show in July in Louisville is one that always brings out the elite ones and that year was no exception. When the dust settled, our list was short and started with the class winning boar from Lorenzen Farms. This Wheelhouse X Grand Drive son possessed the things we were in search of to be the next step in our Yorkshire program. It took $40,000 to secure him and we couldn’t be happier. Robin Ridge Farms joined in with us on another good one, and we extend our thanks once again to Mike. ZONED IN fires us up for the way he combine mass and dimension with look and extension. This one is busted open at the ground with true width from front to rear. He maintains that up high with a big shapely back and massive hip. His rib cage is big and bold and dimension is impressive. ZONED IN is incredible in the way he comes out of his blade into a long, extended head and neck. The way he ties this all together at the ground is impeccable, as his stride is flawless. 2015 RESERVE PREMIERE SIRE, INDIANA STATE FAIR We set out on a mission to find a Yorkshire boar that didn’t have any of the Final Move/Final Drive bloodlines in his pedigree, so we had a Yorkshire boar to use on our sow herd that is heavily influenced with those popular lines and be able to offer an outcross pedigree to customers in the same boat. When RICOCHET strolled across the green shaving, and we looked at our sheet to see his pedigree we knew we had found our boar we had in mind. He went on to be named Reserve Champion of the show, and it took $60,000 to own this one but we are ecstatic that he’s in our stable. Thanks to our good friend Mike Fagg at Robin Ridge for teaming up with us to bring him to Clayton. We feel RICOCHET combines look, levelness, squareness, and flexibility to the highest degree. He is jerk necked with his head coming out of his blade like it should, level from blade to hip and as square and opened up as you can make them while staying inside their skeleton. He is big and bold about his top and down into his rib cage. Tie in his extra flexible stride with his big bones, and we feel this one can make the next generation of Yorkshires better. Visitors through the stud continue to be impressed with how RICOCHET has matured since Louisville with many stating he may be the best Yorkshire boar shown that summer!! There are often times in the livestock business that things happen and there is always a reason for that. It may not be apparent at the time, but it always reveals itself at some point. CARBON COPY was our boar on feed for the STC. We knew his sister was good and should be competitive, but we were even more excited about the impact we felt this one could have down there. Our bar for feeding and showing boars is very high, and this one had been excelling it in every way possible. When this one decided to come up lame about 2 weeks prior to Louisville, we knew our chance to exhibit a really good one had come to an end. Our plans prior to his hip injury were to breed several sows to this one. That plan remains in place even after the injury. Unfortunately for CARBON COPY, he may never be able to be pictured or shown on a tour, but this one is truly elite in our minds. He earns his name because he is a copy of his sister. Massive boned, huge center body with a big back and great show hog look. This one is stout in any and all aspect you view him. Monster chest and awesome width. Feet and leg soundness was superb preinjury along with squareness of build. Great hogs come from great litters and great mothers and this is no different here. His Final Drive mother is a true generator for us. She herself is a littermate to our $21,000 Driven boar we sold at STC a few years back to LVS. We truly feel this one will have his impact in our program and many others. If your goal is to do what his sister did in Louisville, then make your CARBON COPY today!!!

The demand for purebred hogs seems to be at an all-time high regardless of breed! That always keeps us on the lookout to find that next great one to come along that can benefit their breed and cause it to progress forward. The Landrace show at the Winter Type Conference was one of the better ones in recent times! The boar named Champion earned that honor with his ability to balance together bone, squareness, muscle and design, and then, take those areas to the extreme while staying sound footed. Many around ringside where talking about how that was a breed changer! We couldn’t agree more! MAYHEM hit us as hard as any boar has, in some time, regardless of breed! A boar that is super heavy boned and stout featured. Monster legs with huge feet and a skeleton that reads stout! One that is so unique for his breed in the fact that he is short bodied, moderate framed with a big back. Yet, MAYHEM still reads awesome from the side, as he is level designed with great extension up front. This one is so sound and flexible for the amount of mass and bone that makes up his skeleton. Sired by Overthrow, the Korb boar, that used to reside here, and out of a Jaws sow. MAYHEM’S mother is a littermate to Call Me Crazy at Showtime Sires and another littermate sister was Reserve Champion Landrace at the NJSA Western Regional in 2016. The thing that furthermore excites us about MAYHEM is the fact of how good his littermate brother was, watching him capture the Champion Landrace Barrow title at the Southeast Regional for Jax Holt! This one definitely fires us up about the Landrace breed and is one that we feel will make an impact! If you want to cause an uproar and make the Landrace ring crazy good, then do it with a little MAYHEM!!!

We take a lot of pride and passion in searching for boars to add to the stud. Ones that we feel can not only make your herds better but be ones that can help a breed progress forward. The spot breed is one that has reaped us a lot of successes but is also one that we’ve been fortunate enough to own several breed influencing sires in as well! The hunt for the next one is always a priority, and we feel we’ve done that in a big way with SWEET DREAMS! The Bauer hog from the STC created a buzz in Springfield and is one we are ecstatic to own! A huge thank you to the Emenhiser Family for again stepping up and helping bring this one to Crossroads! This class winner gets you excited in a hurry, when you study the set and structure to his hind leg. One that is flawless in terms of flexibility and foot placement. Square in his hock with great reaching power. Huge bones and big feet base his stout skeleton. Big and bold up high with a shapely back and hip. Sweet Dreams has a big, pliable rib cage and great dimension to his body cavity. Up front, he gives you a cool, trendy showpig look. We think SWEET DREAMS is a big time player for us to add to our spotted line up! Brings different blood to the table being sired by LTD (Livin’ the Dream), which was the Champion Boar at the ‘15 STC for WIU. The dam is a Trophy Case sow that was a class winner at the the ‘14 STC and his grandmother was a many time OK Jackpot Champion. Not only from a line of champions, but from a litter of them as well as his littermate brother was named Champion Spot Barrow at the ‘16 WPX Jr. National! SWEET DREAMS is an incredible spotted boar that we feel is going to make the next generation better! Go to bed at night with happy thoughts of making spots better by adding SWEET DREAMS to your program!!!

The Spotted show at Indy is always extra deep and competitive, and this year was no exception. Lots of great boar options to land on, but we put our sting on the Norman Farms entry. He was the top-selling boar for $17,000 and is sired by the popular Loud Mouth boar. SCORPION is a littermate to the Champion Boar at the Summer Type Conference, this summer. SCORPION is an incredible Spotted boar in terms of levelness and look combined with width and power. Tall shouldered with great look up front and jet level from blade to hip. Extra shapely up high for a negative with a big rib cage. Width and squareness at the ground is superb, and this one can get out and cover some surface. Take out our competitors on the way to the big banner with a sting from SCORPION!!!

The Spotted breed is one that has been very rewarding to us since our entry into the business and always has us on the lookout for the next piece. We had the privilege of seeing CHATTER this summer on a farm visit to Derek Moore’s and were impressed with him. He is a stress negative boar that Derek purchased from Jarrett Mays at Duncan in 2013 and is a Gossip X Transformer. We vaguely talked about inquiring him, but as the summer progressed it just got left as talk as Derek didn’t seem to care if we went anywhere or not. When Derek informed us about him dispersing, he made mention that he was going to offer CHATTER as well. He had an incredible summer and fall and immediately regenerated our interest. Long story short, we purchased CHATTER and are thrilled to offer him next to our solid lineup already in place. For the limited number of sows he was exposed to, he yielded successful results including the Champion Spot Gilt at the American Royal, Champion & Reserve Spot Gilts at the IL State Fair Jr. Show, Champion Bred & Owned Spot Gilt at IL State Fair Jr. Show, Reserve Champion Spot Barrow at the IL State Fair Open Show and over $10,500 in bred Spot gilts sold in Derek’s dispersal sale. CHATTER is one impressive individual to view as a mature boar. Tall fronted with a great look, big bladed with a huge rib cage and expressive hip. This one from the side is awesome to view as he is level from blade to hip. Feet and legs are ideal when placed and his range of motion is flawless. We think CHATTER will continue the legacy Derek has started with him and cement his place amongst the great Spot sires we’ve been privileged to offer. Get people talking about your Spotted program with a little CHATTER!!!

Our successes in the Spotted breed have humbly come in large quantities over the last couple years, and we take great pride in searching the country looking for the next sire to lay in place to keep progressing forward. When Mark Hurd posted a Spot boar on Facebook right after Springfield, it immediately caught our attention. After visiting with Mark and a few very well respected breeders that had recently saw him, we made the purchase. When we pulled into Cleghorn, Iowa, and walked around the corner of the barn to see a Spot boar in the wash rack, it didn’t even take getting him out of the pen to know we had found the next one to move us forward! Sired by Renaissance, the $72,000 WPX Reserve Boar in 2014, and out of a Can’t Wait sow, who is a littermate to the Reserve Spot Barrow at San Antonio and Reserve AOB at LSU in 2014. A littermate barrow to INSTANT ADDICTION is a 14 time champion Spot that went undefeated on the Iowa circuit. This one fires up going forward in the Spotted deal for the way he combines heaviness of bone with width and dimension and does so in a sound package. Huge feet and legs with awesome width both coming and going. Big and bold up top with a huge rib cage and great muscle shape for a stress negative boar. INSTANT ADDICTION gives you a tall fronted, good look from the side and is level from nose to tail. His color pattern catches your eye too. This one reads with a presence that immediately grabs your attention leaving your instantly addicted. We feel this one is going to plateau our Spotted program to the next level. If you’re passionate about making Spot hogs better then make sure your program has some INSTANT ADDICTION!!!

This one is massive and huge in terms of his foot and bone. Without a doubt the stoutest Spotted boar we have ever owned. Moderate in his build with a big back and huge rib cage. We feel this one is the right size and design to make big time Spotted barrows that are right for the times! EIN X ROAD RAGE

Pre-Order: $200 | Overrun: $100 | Last Call: $75

On occasion, special opportunities will present themselves and the results that can derive from those occasions can be rather rewarding! That is exactly the case here in this dynamite Chester White boar! When Todd and Brandon reached out to us about this boar being one they were very confident in and felt was a special kind of one, it immediately caught our attention. Once we got into what he was and how potent his genetics were, we were way in! The success that Ein had generated and his untimely death made us feel that FIRST TAKE will be a must use. The Road Rage X Lucky Me mother of this boar could be ranked in legendary status with the accomplishments she has garnered in her short tenure. Known to Biggs & Beyers as ‘MJ,’ her accomplishments include: the Champion Chester Gilt @ OYE, Champion Chester Barrow @ Houston in 2014, the 5th Overall Gilt & Champion Chester @ Springfield, Reserve Champion Chester Gilt @ San Angelo, Reserve Champion Chester Barrow @ WPX in 2015, and the $6,000 Champion Chester Gilt & $4,750 3rd to the Champion and Reserve Chester Gilts @ San Angelo in 2016 (both gilts are littermates to FIRST TAKE). The Lucky Me grandmother incorporates our old Heartbreaker boar, and he was our initial Chester purchase that paved the way for our successes in this breed. FIRST TAKE is an absolutely incredible specimen to view and like no other Chester boar we have seen! This one is so heavy structured and big footed, but the angle, set and flex to his hock and hind leg are incredible! This one takes a long, athletic stride, when he sets into motion, and the squareness of his reaching power is awesome. Tall shouldered with a good, attractive look up front. Muscle shape and mass are ideal and this one is great in his rib shape and body mass. We think this one is going to continue on the tradition of winning ways here in our Chester program by making big time Chester White show hogs. Many that have been through to see him comment, “If he’s a barrow I don’t know how he gets beat by anything!” No argument from us here! Do it right from the beginning and start your winning ways with FIRST TAKE!!!

A strong lineup of Chester Whites boars in stud is something that we have always been fortunate enough to have. We have been blessed to have experienced lots of success amongst this breed at all levels of competition. From Heartbreaker to Heavy Hitter to Bonecrusher, we have had a set that has dominated the show ring year in and year out. When the opportunity arose to bring in another elite Chester herdsire, we jumped on the chance to do so. One from a pedigree standpoint that went a little old school, but combined 3 of the greats that we’ve ever housed here. THROWBACK is a Forgive and Forget X Bonecrusher X Heartbreaker from the Corya Family. He was set to be their Duncan entry, but we felt this one needed to come straight to Clayton and join the stable. Not only does his lined up pedigree of great generating Chester boars fire us up, but the phenotypic presence he possesses does too. One that puts together the look, design, and flexibility of his sire combined with the stoutness, mass, and muscle generated by the sire of his dam. THROWBACK is one rugged featured, huge boned animal. Monster feet and big legs. Square built at the ground with a big chest and comfortable stride. Huge back with great shape of muscle and mass to his center body. Tie in his tall fronted, extended show hog look, and we think this one has all the key components to create his own legacy. Backed by some of the greats amongst the breed and ones we were and are privileged to have owned, THROWBACK is going to carry on the torch for us within this breed. Don’t be afraid to go back in time and kick it old school to make Chesters that are stout featured and good looking with THROWBACK!!!

2016 PREMIERE SIRE, SUMMER TYPE CONFERENCE

Our visit to the Mench farm was a great one this summer, as we found two powerhouse boars. The crossbred boar is an intriguing one to add to our program, but we feel this Chester boar can be the next big thing in the breed for us. We have been fortunate to lay in some boars of this breed that have went out and taken the breed by storm. Like any other breed, we are always in search of that next direction to head. When they walked this Chester boar out of the barn it only took a few steps for us to realize we needed to lay this one beside the ones already working here. Sired by Snapchat, littermate to the Reserve Champion at the 2013 NAILE and out of a really good Classic Steel sow that the girls showed successfully a few years back. SCREENSHOT is impressive in how combines width and dimension with muscle and look. He is busted open underneath with a big chest and leaves with great width. Up high, his back is big and wide, and he has a massive hip with a ditch down his top. This one from the side is jerk necked with incredible look. He is stout boned and big footed and flexible in his motion. This one serves as an outcross for the lines that we have working here, and we think he should definitely make his mark going forward. Make a lasting impression at the backdrop with a SCREENSHOT!!!

There are so many different places we could start to describe this boar, but we are going to start with the response we get from everyone that sees this beast. We show him to everyone that comes through to tour the stud regardless if they have Chester White sows or not and the most common response we get is, “WOW!!! Never before have people seen a Chester boar with this much bone, this big of feet, and this stout of skeleton get out and motor like he does and still offer a cool, clean look about his head, neck, and joints. BONECRUSHER has also many times over been referred to as the most unique boar seen anywhere all summer. We tend to agree and think the sky is the limit on what kind of impact we feel BONECRUSHER is going to make on the Chester White breed. Lots of really good breeders are already booking semen on BONECRUSHER to make crosses as well. The pedigree runs deep and rich in BONECRUSHER as he is sired by the $27,500 Range boar from the 2012 STC and his mother was the Champion Chester White Gilt at the 2010 Team Purebred event as well as in the Top 5 Overall and Champion Chester White Gilt at the IL State Fair Jr. Show. She is also a littermate to Illusion. His grandmother was the Corya gilt that was Grand Overall Breeds at the 2007 IL State Fair Jr. Show and Reserve Champion Chester Gilt at the Team Purebred event in 2007 and is the mother or grandmother of most of the Chester boars that the Ogle-Tabbert firm has produced the last few years. No matter what color or ear set this boar has we feel he is one of the most intriguing boars we have ever purchased and cannot wait to see what his offspring will do. If you want to smash down any and all competitors in your way ... do it with BONECRUSHER!!!

Never before have we seen a purebred Berkshire boar this good!!! One impressive specimen that took on the crosses and beat them all but one! He is the $60,000 Reserve Champion from the Crossbred show at the 2016 Fall Classic. Too old to show in the purebred show by 11 days and carrying the stress status of a carrier caused him to not be eligible for the purebred show, but this one is as purebred as can be and carries a pedigree! If there has ever been a breed changer comes along in recent times, it is without a doubt this one!!! SASQUATCH is an absolute powerhouse in our minds! One that is extra heavy boned and stout featured. Huge legs and enormous feet make up this one’s stout skeleton. Square made and big chested at the ground with great set, flex and reach to his hock. The squareness to his hind leg is superb and is one that really gets out and motors. Massive backed and shapely with muscle to burn. His rib cage and center body is big and length of body and frame size are ideal. A combination boar that is so balanced and complete, yet takes things to the extreme! One that carriers a little bit of an older school pedigree but is really just irrelevant details for how good we think SASQUATCH is! There are winning traditions in his pedigree as his mother was the Reserve Champion Berkshire Gilt at Tulsa in 2014, and that same year, her littermate brother was Champion Berkshire Barrow there too. This is one that can do lots of things for lots of sows out there both Berkshire and Crossbred alike. If you just want to make hogs better, then SASQUATCH needs to be on your short list! Don’t let a little stress in his pedigree keep you from using this breed changer! The hunt for that ‘next one’ is over ... SASQUATCH is here!!!

The Chosen Ones Sale that Jesse Heimer holds a couple times a year is one that we always look forward to. We have purchased several boars out of these sales that have helped build the brand over the years. The boars always come in here exactly how Jesse portrays them to us, if not better, and we roll on and make them work and work well. This year in our conversation on the offering, the Lot 1 Berkshire boar was quickly brought into discussion. The successes of the HH brand in the Berkshire ring over the years has been unparalleled and is, in large part, the credit of the Bar None sow that resides at HH. Jesse sold her last summer in his bred sow sale for $27,000 to Billy Wolf and she was left at Jesse’s to continue her legacy there. She has produced offspring that have hung banners on the biggest stages in almost every litter, along with laying in a killer set of females for HH to utilize from. He bred her back the same way to Non Typical and it yielded this specimen of a Berkshire Boar. TWO TONE is a full sib to Rebel, Monopoly and the Reserve Supreme Overall & Champion Berkshire Gilt at the 2016 San Antonio Stock Show. The combination of Bar None sow’s potency and the genetic powerhouses that come from the Mauck program knocked it out of the park with TWO TONE! We love what this one has to offer in terms of trendy look and presence that is so hard to find in this breed. Tall shouldered and great from the side with extra muscle shape. Set and slope to his shoulder that is hard to find in this breed. One that is loaded with power at the base of his skeleton with huge legs and big feet. Impeccable built in terms of flex and mobility with great length of stride. The headliner Berkshire boar that we were looking to add this summer is what we feel TWO TONE will be for us! This one will make an impact in Berkshire breed!!!

We do not always get the opportunity to see every boar we place into stud at an early age and at different points along the way as they mature, but when we keep prospects at our farm, we get that luxury obviously. This is one that from a very young age, we knew would be a special one! Sired by the late Smokin’ Gun, that boar left us too early and did a great job in his short time. The Kentucky Lovin’ mother is about as good as it gets from an ABF genetic standpoint as she is full sib to Kissin’ Cousins and, along with her sister, is becoming a building block for the Berkshire program here. The mother of these boars is becoming a key contributor quickly as we have kept 7 daughters, and last summer, her litter went on a tear producing the Reserve Berk Gilt at Indy in the Jr. Show and all were Champion at their county with one being named Reserve Overall. The other sister is the dam of the many time Champion Berk Barrow on the ICPA in 2015, the Reserve Sr. Division Gilt @ Indy Open Show, and a Class Winning Gilt @ Houston this spring. A littermate sister to the boar was the 5th Overall Berk Gilt @ OYE this spring and was also Reserve Champion Berkshire @ the Team Purebred Mid-South Regional. SMOKE & MIRRORS is the kind you will dig immediately if you like hogs that run up hill and have great show hog presence. He is one that is great from the side being level built and awesome designed. He’s square and opened both coming and going and square in his build. Stout featured and heavy boned with big feet. Great in his muscle pattern being expressive and crisp made. A notch more extended and bigger in his kind than his brother but one that still packs a powerful punch. SMOKE & MIRRORS is one that we can see making a bunch of big time show gilts and still making those stout kind of show barrows. No hidden secrets or gimmicks here. If you want to make a strong showing in the Berkshire arena, do it with a little SMOKE & MIRRORS!!!

When they sent us a picture of a boar they had on feed and told us the pedigree, we were immediately interested. A trip to Southern Michigan yielded big results in two powerhouse boars. Sired by Fly By out of their foundation Oak sow, Bright Lights is royally bred. His mother produced their 2013 Champion Berkshire boar at IN, Superbright, and the Reserve Overall Gilt & Champion Berkshire at the 2014 San Antonio Stock Show. Once we laid eyes on him, we knew we couldn’t let him go to Springfield. BRIGHT LIGHTS is one that is truly athletic in the way he hits the surface. Big chested and wide going away but square and true in his foot placement. Stout bones and big feet. His rib cage is huge and his back is massive and shapely. We love the width and dimension to his hip. Study his pedigree, study his picture, we think he’s got a bright future. 2016 PREMIERE SIRE, FALL CLASSIC The Berkshire breed is one we take very seriously here as we strive to be able to offer the best boars in the country. The Fall Classic Berkshire show is always loaded with a great set of breeding hogs with many breed changing boars coming from that venue over the years. We feel the Champion from this year’s show is one of that caliber. Fairly new to the Berkshire breed, but no strangers to success in it, are the Knight Brothers. Ryan and Tyler, along with father Brad, have made a big splash in recent years producing some of the most sought after breeding stock at the Summer Type Conference. Most of the due in part to their Different Strokes sow. She is the dam of the Champion & Reserve Gilts at the 2014 STC along with their $16,000 Boar & $17,000 Gilt at the 2015 STC. Most importantly she is also the dam of DARK KNIGHT, the $12,000 Fall Classic Champion Boar that we are privileged to own. Thanks to the crew that bought in on him including Gentry Genetics, Hood Showpigs, and Rich McClasland. We think this one is a freak of a Berkshire boar and one of our favorites to show in some time. Crossbred muscle and mass with incredible power. Huge center rib and big back and hip. Huge chest floor and great width going away. Level designed and tall fronted. Sound and flawless when in motion. We are excited to offer this trio of Fall Classic boars and feel they are amongst some of the best we’ve offered. DARK KNIGHT has been well received since Duncan, and we feel he will make an immediate impact on the breed.
