SMALL HOSPITALITY - SPARROW CAFE & GELATO
The Concept : Deconstructed Sparrow Sparrow is a quaint cafe and gelato bar located in the heart of Crows Nest. The brief for this project proposed a full refurbishment and a possible rebranding of the interior including decor and spatial planning. Keeping the cafe’s current clientele in mind, my concept developed around the cafe’s name - Sparrow. I began my concept development by deconstructing the shape and movement of a sparrow and in particular that of the geometric line drawings of birds. The first step in the rebranding of the cafe was to design a logo. The process in which I developed and used the concept of a deconstructed sparrow can be viewed on the opposite page.

RETAIL - DINOSAUR DESIGNS
The Concept : Rock Formations Dinosaur Designs is an Australian company that prides itself on producing an eclective blend of organic shaped and tactile jewelery and homewares. After researching the company I found that a lot of their designs have been inspired by nature and the Australian landscape and iconography. Their products are often described as being earthy and primitive with an ancient feeling. The concept developed for this project was conceived around the imagery of rock formations and the various shapes, movement and textures of these ancient structural elements. The sweeping curves and sedimental textures of these rock formations helped form the design of the ’rock face’ exterior and feature wall within the store. 8 RETAIL - DINOSAUR DESIGNS

SMALL OFFICE - HOTELS.COM
The Concept : High Speed Photography Hotels.com is a global, diverse, fast and flexible company that specialises in hotel accommodation. The company prides itself on begin progressive and productive whilst maintaining a strong sense of collaboration and inclusivity, fostering an optimistic team spirit. Given the company’s fast paced and multicultural dynamic, I was inspired by the idea behind high speed photography and the shape, movement and colour that derives from this beautiful imagery. High speed photography involves the process of photographing an image in a hundredth of a second, capturing images normally naked to the human eye. The first image pictured above helped form the design of a central hub within the office space to be used as a breakout space. The repetition of circular shapes was intended to encourage a sense of support, community and unity.

FLOOR PLAN THE BRIEF The brief for this project was to design a small training space including two medium training rooms with the option of expanding the area into a larger training room. The client also requested for a large portion of the floor to be available for large functions and gatherings. To achieve this operable walls were put in place on a curved angle. 15430

LARGE OFFICE - TRAFFIK
THE CONCEPT : Playground Traffik is a fun and energetic company that aims to humanise brands through original live and digital experiences. The concept ’playground’ developed after brainstorming how a sense of energy and fun could be brought to the workplace. Children are natural inventors and creators. Their minds have no limits and instead of ignoring their ignorance they embrace it. They are willing to explore and investigate because they are willing to fail. As we grow older our sense of freedom in creativity is stifled and suppressed. This concept proposes to pull out the inner kid in the employees of Traffik and enhance a sense of creativity and innovation within the workplace. Structural elements of typical playgrounds were incorporated within the spatial planning of the office layout. In particular, the first image pictured above helped develop the idea behind a bridge connecting the two sides of the office together. 16 LARGE OFFICE - TRAFFIK

LARGE HOSPITALITY - ALICE WATERS
THE CONCEPT : The Roaring Twenties Alice Waters is critically acclaimed American chef and founder of Chez Panisse, a California restaurant famous for its organic and locally-grown ingredients and for pioneering California cuisine. This projects involves Alice Waters first venture in Australia and proposes the design of Darlinghurst’s East Village Hotel. The East Village Hotel has a rich and dense history dating back to the 1920s. This concept proposes to bring the rundown hotel back to life with the style and culture of the roaring twenties. My design for the restaurant and bar are formed around the style of Art Deco, prohibition speakeasy bars, and 1920s jazz clubs. Alice Waters is a great advocate of the power of gathering bringing people together. Through the dining experience I have proposed a void to be situated between the restaurant and function to reinforce these ideals. LARGE HOSPITALITY - ALICE WATERS 234 Palmer Street, Darlinghurst

RESIDENTIAL - MANLY PENTHOUSE The Manly Penthouse is located in a quiet cul-de-sac on Sydney’s lower Northern Beaches. The brief for this project was to renovate the existing floor including the removal of existing walls and the addition of a penthouse level. The units are an investment property for the client and as such the spatial planning and interior styling needed to suit the client’s specific needs in order to gain capital.
