IN

CARING

AND

SERVICE,

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE!

Hi again! Hope everyone is doing well and staying productive! One month has already gone by in our term and it went by so fast. Hopefully some of you guys have been staying updated through our instagram and facebook page, and if you are not, make sure to follow us to stay connected :) For this upcoming month we are hoping to bring small activities you can complete at home to continue gaining some hours. But don’t worry once quarantine is over we will start up again and find plenty of opportunities to volunteer. During this time make sure to stay updated and aware of everything that is going on in the world right now. Make sure to thank all the essential workers who are putting their lives at risk to help stop the spread of COVID-19! Stay safe everyone!

Events! Thank you Essential Workers! The executive team is putting together a little video to thank the modern heroes of today -our essential workers! Everyday, tons of essential workers put their own safety at risk by going to work, so that we can stay at home and healthy! We would like to show our support and thank them with this video! If you would like to be involved as well, please feel free to contact the executive team!

CREATE A SCHEDULE

Online

This doesn't mean you have to start waking up at 8:40am again... Find a time that works for you! Choosing a set time to work on assignments everyday, or even every other day helps us get into a routine again! Creating this routine will train your brain to distinguish between work time and rest time! Making a schedule also helps to spread out the work! Doing a little bit of work each day helps to prevent burnout! (Opposed to doing it an hour before the deadline)

Schooling

COMMUNICATION

You're not alone! If you're having trouble navigating online school, talk to your teachers, they want to help! If you find yourself struggling to keep up, don't be afraid to let them know that as well. You come first!

TAKE BREAKS

Probably the most important piece of advice, take a break! Although it's not a bad idea to finish your school and get it over with, spending all day in front of devices can be very draining! Take a social-distancing walk outside, or grab a snack, you deserve it!

TIPS AND TRICKS!

PAGE 5

bored at home? Self-isolation can be a bit boring, but it's for the safety of ourselves and others! Here are a few activities you could do at home to keep yourself entertained!

music! Ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar? How about the piano? Now's the time! Whether you're a pro or a beginner, pick up an instrument (or find an online simulator) and start playing! Or, create your own playlist and invent some new dance moves!

bake!

Eating is always the best solution when bored... if you're going to do it anyway, why not make it yourself! Make yourself a meal or a dessert. Everything tastes better when you make it yourself!

read!

write!

When was the last time you read a book? (that wasn't for homework!) Find a book that interests you, it can be about anything! Dinosaurs, comic books, trees -- you name it!

Not big on reading? Write your own book! Create your own characters, invent a story line! Or, keep a journal! Kids 100 years from now will wonder what people were doing during the pandemic!

call a friend!

PAGE 7

Just because we can't meet up with our friends doesn't mean we can't catch up! Video-chat or friend, or even just text! It's important to stay in touch with our loved ones because times are difficult for everyone right now! We're all in this together, so call up a friend and start that chemistry assignment that's due on Friday!

MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Sarah Ngo! Sarah is Division 13/15/17's immediate-past lieutenant governor! She has been in Key Club for 4 years, and always shows her dedication by planning for events and attending them. Sarah also participated in our "thank you health care heroes" video!
