Support for Records Manager (URM)
12c
Have you ever upgraded an application, only to see another one suffer as a result? It can be frustrating. For example, a month or so ago my smartphone got a new operating system upgrade. My phone loved it... but my banking app didn't! My bank had no idea what was changing in the new O/S, and I'm sure they scrambled to release an update that worked, as quickly as they could.
Currently in the WebCenter Content 12.2.1.0 GA release, the URM managed server for supporting Physical Records Management & the URM Adapters are not part of the installer binaries.
While this means that for a WCC 12c installation it is not possible to install this URM managed server environment, understand that these product components have NOT been deprecated but are targeted to be available in a later 12c release – currently targeted for the 12.2.1.3 PS3 release (subject to change).
Customers needing the URM server are directed to the WCC 11.1.1.9 release until such time as the URM functionality is released in the 12c product line. *Please note that in the 12.2.1.0 GA version you can still enable the integrated WCC Records functionality directly from the WCC Server. This is the type that does not have PCM and is used to records manage content stored directly in the content server.
When 12c support for URM Physical records management and the remaining supported adapter becomes available it will no longer require a dedicated URM managed server but will instead be part of the core WebCenter Content server functionality. The URM Sharepoint, Filesystem and the Adapter Framework will continue to be supported in 12c when the consolidated URM server functionality releases as part of the integrated WCC server.
Deprecations: For the 12c product line, please note that the following adapters have been deprecated and will no longer be available: • EMC Documentum adapter • IBM Filenet adapter • Symantec Enterprise Vault adapter
