Manifesto The three book covers have been design to create a new take on the original designs. The original design of the series was very image based while the redesigned book covers are typographic based. The main concept of the book covers was to represent the title in a shape that represents the story. For example, for Winter the word was created in the form of an apple. This typography was all custom and done by hand then transferred into the computer. This technique was done with all the book titles and the author name. The only font style used was for the book information on the back cover.
with represented their story. These titles gave the whole book a sense of style and feel. For example, the letters of Winter were drawn into the shape of an apple. This typography took up most of the page to draw the focus in of the audience.
The colours that were chosen were bright eye catchy which also reflects the main icons of the story. Only one colour other than black was used throughout the cover to help to create a focus. This particular colour was repeated throughout the front, side and the back. I decided to keep the background white and not add any type The tone of the three books were peaceful and different. of colour or texture to not draw the attention away from the main title. The style I was after for the series was simple but classy feel while keeping it professional. This was done The layout of the book covers was simple, only the esthrough the typography each title was written in as well sential items were included in the design. This allowed as the author name. All the main title (Winter, Cinder to create a good visual hierarchy. and Scarlet) were hand drawn into a particular symbol
