Director’s Welcome Thank you for joining us for the Academy of Notre Dame 2015 Fall Musical! This has been a tremendous effort by many, and if we can get you toe tapping along at some point this evening, it makes it all worth it. Anything Goes is arguably the perfect definition of a classic American musical comedy. With music and lyrics by Cole Porter, and a hysterical collection of characters from Guy Bolton and P.G. Wodehouse, edited by Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse, the argument is easily made. Anything Goes made its debut at the Alvin Theater (now the Neil Simon theatre) in 1934, and since then has seen many revivals, films, and community theaters all over the country choosing this title for their productions. Tonight, you will see the 1987 revival version, known as the Beaumont version. Theatre is the ultimate team sport, and as we continue to develop and grow the theatre presence here at Notre Dame, I wanted to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the powerhouse duo of Mrs. Pam Devenney and Mrs. Lindsay Miller (“Friendship, Friendship . . . such a perfect blendship!”), as well as all the folks who put so much time in to make our students shine. Best wishes to our Seniors - Soon your ship sets sail on new adventures, and though you will be missed, please know how much we love you, and wish the best for you in the future. Notre Dame will always welcome you back! May God bless you and your families, and we hope you enjoy the show!
-Mr. Brian Dietzler
Welcome From the Academy of Notre Dame De Namur We are delighted to welcome you to the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur’s production of Anything Goes. This lighthearted musical, with lyrics and music by the great Cole Porter, will take you on an unforgettable adventure on the high seas. At Notre Dame, teaching and learning occur in many ways. Since the start of the school year, our students have been busy studying scripts, learning choreography, and rehearsing Broadway classics to bring this high society musical to our stage. This production features 54 student actors, dancers, singers, and stage crew. Whether performing on stage or working behind the scenes, the level of talent, dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by our students is impressive. We thank our Notre Dame faculty, Mr. Dietzler, Mrs. Devenney, and Mrs. Miller for so professionally guiding this production. Thank you for supporting the performing arts at Notre Dame. Enjoy the show!
