Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who developed the theory of relativity, one of the two pillars of modern physics. His work is also known for its influence on the philosophy of science. He is best known to the general public for his mass–energy equivalence formula E=mc^, which has been dubbed "the world's most famous equation".

Albert Einstein was born in Ulm, in the Kingdom of Württemberg in the German Empire, on 14 March 1879. His parents were Hermann Einstein, a salesman and engineer, and Pauline Koch. Albert attended a Catholic elementary school in Munich, from the age of 5, for three years. At the age of 8, he was transferred to the Luitpold Gymnasium (now known as the Albert Einstein Gymnasium), where he received advanced primary and secondary school education until he left the German Empire seven years later.

Einstein independently discovered his own original proof of the Pythagorean theorem at age 12.He started teaching himself calculus at 12, and as a 14-year-old he says he had "mastered integral and differential calculus. At age 13, Einstein was introduced to Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, and Kant became his favorite philosopher, his tutor stating: "At the time he was still a child, only thirteen years old, yet Kant's works, incomprehensible to ordinary mortals, seemed to be clear to him.“ In 1895, at the age of 16, Einstein took the entrance examinations for the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zürich. At 17, he enrolled in the four-year mathematics and physics teaching diploma program at the Zürich Polytechnic.

In 1903 he married Mileva Maric's girlfriend, with whom he had two children, Hans Albert and Eduard, and had a second daughter Lizler, who is missing. In 1919, after divorcing Mileva, he married his cousin, Elsa. It is worth noting that Albert Einstein in the divorce agreement had promised his first wife, Mileva Maric, that she would give her the money she would secure from the Nobel Prize to be used for her and their children's upbringing. In addition to his love of physics, he also loved music as he played the violin. Einstein was a proponent of socialism and a fanatic critic of capitalism. In his book Why Socialism? expresses his political beliefs.

He died in Princeton, New Jersey on April 18, 1955.

In 1905 he published four articles in the German scientific journal Chronicle of Physics as well as the dissertation in which he obtained his doctorate from the University of Zurich. In the first of the four articles he gave the explanation of the photoelectric phenomenon, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1921. In his second article he dealt with the Brown movement. Brown motion is the random movement of tiny solid granules in a liquid body. In the third of his articles published in 1905 he formulated his theory of the movement of light. He argued that the speed of movement is independent of the movement of the transmitter and receiver and constant for a given propagation medium. In the fourth he showed that it derives the equivalence of mass and energy, giving the famous formula E = m c 2. These two articles form the core of the special theory of relativity.
