In this place, there was never a quarter of residential development. At first there were grasslands, then a factory of agricultural machines - everything related to agro-culture. It was the agro-cultural heritage of the place that inspired the creation of houses - streams extending parallel to the existing development of the OdesΓ’€™ka Street. Location of the residental buildings is a solution to: Optimal insolation of apartments east-west Optimal insolation of interior spaces Preservation of comfortable conditions of existing building Residential complex The residential complex was solved by two three-section houses and one more section, which seemed to split to ensure the passage of Golubovycha Street. This technique is used to visually combine buildings in one complex. Office building Existing house number 64 on the Gorodotska Street has no entrance from the main facade but from a side facade. The idea was to save this entrance. For this purpose, an atrium with a height of two floors has been designed, which extends through the glass floor of the upper floor of the new building. The shape of the atrium is asymmetrical, dynamic, created with the desire not to clog the historical facade, but to allow it to be contemplated from the street Gorodotskaya, from the atrium and office premises of the new inserted building. The steep relief of the street set a step of the pattern and composition of the facade.

Renovation of the oil shale mine of Ida-Viru is a project of 200 hectares of hills of limestone. The main challange was to plant trees on this not fertile soil. The idea of our team was to use this advantade of this huge unplanted area to cerate MOONSCAPE attracting visitors to feel themselves walking on the moon. This multi-functional center should include recreation facilities, science center, educational spaces for children as well as adults and will help the area to become a tourist place as an unique and specific magnet for tourists.

SECTION 1-1

ARTIFICIAL WATERBODY with a GREENHOUSE and AQUAPONIC SYSTEM catches the biggest amount of water from the main building and the back yard. It is a complex of a pond with fishes where the filtrated water flows. After water enriches with the waste from the fish it goes to the greenhouse with the vertical beds. They can be used as food for the fish. The green house can be also used for new flora species population as well as vegetable grown for local purposes. Moreover, horticulture therapy can be held here with elderly people or local residents EXTENSIVE GREEN ROOF is proposed to be constructed on the existing building that is not a historical landmark with a flat roof. Extensive roof garden has advantages as it weight less than intensive. Its function is a combination of water catchment as well as recreation area RAINGARDENS are provided in the representative area of the site. They will catch water from areas nearby as well as educate people how new sustainable urban drainage systems can enrich the diversity of the vegetation as well as create good microclimate PERMEABLE PAVEMENT and POROUS ASPHALT are the innovative systems of the hard surface water management with the underground water storage system
