ABOUT KYIV-MOHYLA ACADEMY
1. National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA) is a national, coeducational research university located in Kiev, Ukraine. 2. NaUKMA is a recognized leader of innovation in higher education in Ukraine. 3. NaUKMA is the first institution in Eastern Europe of higher education that leads its history sinse 1615 and celebrating 400 years aniversary in 2015.
VALUES OF KYIV-MOHYLA ACADEMY
1. To create an environment where people of different cultures and different backgrounds work effectively for the development of the Academy and Ukraine, constantly raising the level of education and science; 2. To require from all participants high standards and ethical behavior; 3. To respect the spiritual and cultural traditions of the Academy, maintain and develop them; 4. To create intense spiritual environment that promotes independent education, critical thinking, nationally conscious individuals; 5. To learn advanced world experience and to integrate Ukrainian experience in the global system.

LOCATION
The university occupies the territory of the Podil neighborhood, from Kontraktova Square to the Dnieper River. Location for public art project is the courtyard of one of the NaUKMA campuses. The total area is 1529 m (57 x 27 m2).
CONTEXT
Square surrounded by 2, 4 and 5 floors of school buildings, buildings of British Council and Goethe Institute, a dining area and Cultural Center of NaUKMA with theatrical studios, galleries and cinema club. There is a mix of different architectural styles of reconstructed buildings of the early 20th century, Cultural Arts Center of NaUKMA from the 1970s, 9 floor house of the early 2000s, and a lot of extensions. Square itself is builded after the conversion of the military collage to the academy at the beginning of the 90s.

OBJECTIVES
To transform post-Soviet courtyard into European space for people and communication: comfortable, modern and aesthetic.
