CIMM 2013 Proposal

Chicago International Music and Movies Festival 2013 Campaign Proposal CIMMFest (Chicago International Movies & Music Festival) is a four day showcase of outstanding music films, energetic concerts, visually stunning VJ/DJ sets, lively Q&A’s, daring live score performances. All to celebrate the relationship of movies and music. Our team was approached to find a way to appeal to a younger demographic of college students. So, how do we catch the attention of this notoriously fast-paced crowd?

Chicago International Music and Movies Festival 2013 Campaign Proposal The Idea We decided that the best way to catch their attention is to create a series of guerrilla campaigns that stir up questions, and provoke their curiosity. We plan to cover significant music & film venues such as the Gene Siskel Center, Music Box, House of Blues..etc. and with a count down to when CIMMFest begins, starting with day 25. Each poster will direct curious pedestrians CIMMFest web page for more information.

Chicago International Music and Movies Festival 2013 Campaign Proposal Social Media On the website, you’ll be able to follow CIMMFest on Facebook, Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter. On each social networking site, we’ll be running a little ‘treasure hunt’ in which we post a location in which we’ll beam a promotional CIMMFest projection. If you take a photo of our beam and tag us in it, you’ll win free swag such as passes to go see exclusive shows, and other CIMMFest goodies! During CIMMFest, we’ll have a band ‘Read the Tweets’ by singing out the live tweets being put up by people on Twitter. Those who follow on social media platforms might see themselves featured on CIMMFest’s pages. This will allow us to connect directly with the younger demographic, and engage them in festival activities. After all, you might hear your tweets being broadcast live.

CIMMfest Application and Mobile Website Since the festival lasts through the weekend and there are multiple events that can be attended, our team also designed an application for your smart phone to keep track of all the events you’d want to attend, and to help you navigate to the right place. Using this application, you can plan ahead and even share with your friends your event schedule and invite them to join you! For audiences further convenience, we also adapted the website to be mobile friendly, including the addition of the schedule component. Application

Chicago International Music and Movies Festival 2013 Campaign Proposal Street Team For future CIMMFest events, we will have unique giveaways. Each bimonthly event will feature a new street component. This years giveaway included “3D” sunglasses given out to festival participants. Future handouts could include: Limited edition artist collaboration stickers, branded with CIMMFest’s logo. 1

Bags that have a Super 8 camera printed on the side. When you hold the bag, it appears as if you are holding the camera. The camera will look like it’s projecting the CIMMFest logo. 2

FEST

Similar to our ‘Read the Tweets’ street performance at the 2012 CIMMFest, we want to continue that with up and coming bands. At every bimonthly event, we will feature a different band performing either original music or covers. The music they perform must have something to do with the event. The street performance will then be recorded and made into a music video.

Chicago International Music and Movies Festival 2013 Campaign Proposal After CimmFest: Remix Contest So, you attended CIMMFest, and loved every moment of it, what now? How do we keep the brand going? Well, CIMMFest will also be holding a video remixing contest, after the festival, using Creative Commons. Using the footage filmed from CIMMFest 2012, participants can download and remix the videos into anything they want: a short film, a music video or just something awesome. The voting for the contest will be through Facebook video ‘likes’, while the download for the torrents will be on CIMMFest’s website. The purpose of the contest is to open up competitiveness among film schools, and to keep building brand awareness.
