KATHARINA HEINZE
PORTFOLIO` 17.
All works 2013 - 2017.
My interest in designing garments started when I was very young. I would develop new pieces out of household items, make skirts out of towels, tops out of my mother’s old tights and whenever my brother was finished with his worn- out clothes I would always fnd a new use for the materials. To this day I am still fascinated to create things out of nothing, to work with new textiles and creating striking silhouettes. Due to my long time experience in fashion I am able to work perseveringly and fast in order to achieve the best result possible. Quick comprehension and high dedication allow me to perform independently and accurately. Spontaneity help me to find creative solutions when needed, precision support me to achieve quality results with the attention to details. My affnity for drawing and photography (both digital and analog) is helping me to visualize ideas and support your concepts. I enjoy operating in teams while I am a pleasant, considerate and humurous colleague and assistant to work with.

KURAIKO.

Denim is a material that offers a variety of capabilities and ways to manipulate it.
By using denim, sheer tulle and bonding techniques I intended to create a wearable curtain. It seperates my protagonist Kuraiko from her life adapted to japanese culture and conventions and the privacy of her home. Behind the curtain she is finally allowed to follow her inner beliefs and to resist social restrictions that keep her from unfolding of her personality.

EMMA. Emma Gingerich left the Amish community in search of a better life. The designs of the small collection try to depict the journey of Emma from being in a patriachal enviroment with strict role allocation followed by the escape to an open society that enables her to become a strong and self-determed individual.

CIRCLE VS SQUARE.
25
The world of nature is all about the circle. Only the world of technocrats invented the square. The use of both shapes visualizes the geometrical opposition of nature vs. modern living.
Draping with textile circles and squares lead to the experimental development of reduced and clear silhouettes.

MUSICAL CHAIRS. JIL SANDER What are the questions when you think of being a creative director of an existing fashion house? Is it all about continuing the „line“ by looking at the past, the archive and old codes? What alternatives do a designer have to remain faithful to the history of the house but also to express one‘s own handwriting?
