Kathleen who? 15-16 Paloma KC Board KC 14-15 Term Recap What’s next?

Kathleen Panganiban

DIVISION 6 SOUTH | REGION 4 | CNH DISTRICT | KEY CLUB

Hello! My name is Kathleen Panganiban and I am one of Paloma Valley’s elected Vice President! Key Club has made a major impact on my life ever since I joined my freshman year. My love for community service flourished after each event I attended and so did my love for this organization. I am so excited to tackle this new term with my fellow officers to grow our club for the better.

I love pugs, 5sos, eating food, playing the guitar, and study dates at Starbucks!

2014 – 2015 BOARD

2015 – 2016 BOARD

Hello, I am Leticia Martinez and I have been elected as President of Paloma Valley Key Club. I love video games, anime, poetry and puppies! I was nervous and hesitant to run for the President position; but, with the encouragement of my friends and my love for Key Club, I decided to run! I am incredibly excited that I took on this challenge. I will do my best to lead our club to new heights!

First Blood Drive of the Year! This year’s first annual blood drive was held on September 23, 2014. All blood drives are a great way to get Key Club members involved and it shows a little bit of what Key Club is about. There is a variety of different positions to work such as; hand holder, canteen, check in, or task force. With each blood drive hosted, Key Club members have the opportunity to earn community service hours in a fun and easy way. It is a good taste of future community service events that will be held, and all around fun experience! Sarah Baldwin, a dedicated member explained, “It was great to be able to help out and I actually had fun directing traffic!” In addition, Tiana Him exclaimed, “There were many members participating and it was a really happy atmosphere!” Paloma cannot wait for the next blood drive!

Making Cars Shine, One Car at a Time! On October 18th, Paloma Valley held a car wash to help fundraise for Fall Rally and PTP! The car wash was hosted by Key Clubbers and this was a great way to raise money! Each Key Club member had the chance to partake in this event, whether it was by washing and drying cars or bringing supplies needed. Marielle Formoso, an active member, claimed, “I had a cool time at the car wash; Gabe Fabunan and I helping out trying to advertise the car wash by going to the corner of the intersection, blasting music from Gabe’s car, dancing to grab people’s attention. I came with 5 towels, 3 different types of soap, 2 buckets, 2 Swiffer mops, and window sprays!” Although the workers we limited, Paloma Valley Key Club raised about $150!

Proving Grounds!

Food Drive for the Holidays! On November 20th, Paloma Valley Key Club collected the last of our cans/boxed foods for our Food Drive. The Food Drive helps the families in need during the holidays, making sure people have plenty of food to eat. All students, not just Key Club members, were able to help out and donated as much as he or she could for community service hours. Shanie Kim stated that, “The food drive was a success, and there were many donations of chicken top ramen!” Likewise to Shanie’s comment, Crystal Chhan added that, “We had a good turn out! I heard we brought over a thousand pounds of food.” Paloma is ready to host another food drive for our community!

On December 19th, a talent show, Proving Grounds, was held to help raise money for the ELIMINATE Project. It was hosted by Paloma Valley Key Club in the theatre. To make it fun, all Key Clubbers came in a Christmas sweater or something Christmas spirited! This event was an exciting way for Paloma Valley Key Club to raise money for ELIMINATE, and anyone who came was able to enjoy a great show from many different schools! Marielle Formoso said, “Proving Grounds was a very. Volunteers sold tickets, ushered the audience inside, sold boba, and managed the show.” Overall, Proving grounds was a successful event to raise money for the ELIMINATE Project.

School Spirit Tastes Great!

Club Elections!

Paloma Valley held a fundraiser to raise money for PTP, which stands for, Pediatric Trauma Program. On January 13th, Menifee’s local Chipotle partnered with Paloma Valley Key Club to help host the fundraiser! The fundraiser was from 5:00PM to 8:00PM, which was great because families could buy dinner as a selfless act at Chipotle! 50% of the proceeds were donated to Paloma Valley’s Key Club, if flyer was shown. Although we had a limited amount of time to publicize the event, due to lack of communication, we managed to raise around $90! We would love to give a big thanks to Chipotle for helping our club with this fundraiser!

Paloma Valley held their club elections on February 26th! Although not many candidates ran for positions, the candidates who ran proved themselves to be fit for the job! After all the speeches were made and the votes were casted, the results were in! Paloma’s new Key Club board is: Leticia Martinez as President, Kathleen Panganiban and Shanie Kim as Vice Presidents, Reyna Galbreath and Marielle Formoso as secretaries, Crystal Chhan and Nikki Clark as treasurers, and Gabe Fabian and Terrell Medina as editors! All of the elected candidates are excited to serve for Paloma Valley’s 15-16 Key Club Board!

Campus Clean Up!

Freshman Orientation!

Paloma Valley held a campus clean up on March 7th! Dedicated members came out and help beautify Paloma’s campus! We cleaned windows, picked up trash, and sweeped up leaves. Sally Tsai also came for a club visitation as well, since she was already at Paloma for a track meet! Nikki Clark, a newly elected treasurer said, “the campus clean up went great! We really worked hard and made the campus a lot more enjoyable for everyone!” Even many of the staff members here at Paloma commended us Key clubbers for our hard work and love for community service!

Freshman Orientation was a great opportunity for incoming freshman to catch a glimpse of Key Club! The new officers set up a table and introduced what Key Club really is to countless students. They gave out flyers, wore spirit gear, and even did some Key Club chants! This event helped attract many freshmen, and some who were excited and curious to join! We had almost 50 incoming freshman sign up for next year. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces when the new school year starts!

“The blood drive this year was a lot more organized and went more smoothly. Overall it has been a really good year. The only concern would be informing the members and students at school on events more in advance because it’s usually only a few days before and that doesn’t work for a lot of people.” -

Sarah Baldwin

“I attended Fall Rally this year during Fall Rally, at first, I wanted our Division to just participate and not be concern about winning. Fall Rally was super intense because other Divisions were really in spirit and I felt kind of lame since I didn’t know people go all out but it’s alright because it was my first Fall Rally and it was still really fun! Although this year has been very stressful and at times unorganized, the officers really worked hard for the members and in the end things always worked out even if it did not goas planned. Being a part of Key Club made me realize that this organization is great. I really like how everyone was so friendly as if everyone knew each other since forever, we all were strangers then became great friends quickly!” -

Pamela Ochoa

“Key Club was great way for me to learn better social and communication skills because I was an officer especially. Being an officer was a really wonderful experience because I was able to get an inside look on what really goes on. I learned more about the Key Club community than I have the past this year and I will gladly be renewing my membership next year!” -

Allison Acuna

“As a secretary for the new term, I aspire to effectively cooperate with my fellow officers and the rest of our Ohana. My ultimate goal is to sustain the number of service hours and money for PTP, MNT, and our club. Bittersweet, I look forward to my last year of serving my Division. Caring-our way of life.” -

Marielle Formoso

“Overall, I thought this year went well, but we definitely could have promoted Key Club events more and ahead of time! I really enjoyed the events I went to because I got along well with new members that joined. The events I attended were organized well and everything ran smoothly!” -

Alex Blakeley
