About Me

\

Having spent four years in boarding school in Leeds, I learnt to embrace, adapt and appreciate different cultures and experiences. As my parents constantly travel for work, I have lived in a relatively sheltered life. From these travels, I found that architecture is something that is constant yet always changing which fascinated me. Different styles, eras, and beliefs brought forth these wonders and created the city, and this has become something I aspire towards. However, as I grow older, I know that experience is important in creating these wonders and that is something I lack and hope to learn from you and your firm.

Birkenhead

7 Arts

has become a commuter town; people would pass through

and not stay. Its characteristics had been lost.

To

regain an identity,

we propose to develop an innovative and creative campus offering collaborative office space, studios, workshops and exhibition areas.

Rejuvenating and expanding the waterfront promenade will act as a catalyst, bringing people to Birkenhead. The Seven Arts are then located along the promenade to create a strong waterfront and give

Birkenhead

a strong line, a distinctive boundary to separate it as its own entity.

This massive creative injection aims at young professionals and starting businesses and entrepreneurs, encouraging a large percentage of businesses in the private sector. Birkenhead becomes the cultural creative hub of the North West.

Shipping Containers

Wirral Connected welcomes a new masterplan to the waters edge of Birkenhead. Our main focus is recycling, throughout the design we incorporate reused Shipping Containers as pop up shops and cafe’s and shared storage. We connect the whole masterplan through three forms of transport, Pedestrian, Cycle and rail. By providing a new wide promenade we accommodate for a safe public zone connecting all 4 sites. Also we intend to reuse Wirral Waters Street Car system running along the edge of the masterplan, proving stops in locations no more than 250m from each primary building. Each streetcar stop and bike storage will be made form re-used shipping containers. Taking advantage of its south facing orientation, the North zone houses the residential zone (site A) and a new marina and harbour front providing all necessary amenities for waterfront activities. Sites B habituates the new LJMU maritime knowledge hub, while on site C a new complex of shared offices is situated. Site D is the location for the refurbishment of the existing one story building to create a new 2 storey restaurant complex and leisure facilities.

Like Moth to a Flame

Inspired by the determined marram grass that called Druridge Bay their home, the buildings stood proud out of the dunes with roots spreading firmly underneath the surface. These seven beacons followed Lynch’s five elements of the Image of the City: acting as a landmark and a node strategically placed in districts with a richer history than others and with paths in between and within the edges of the sand dunes.

These towers

not only guide visitors to their destination but give them a

Taking

The Growing Library inspiration from nature, the

Biomimicry

library will house books, a place to study and a place to experiment.

The

library will expand out

to the city and become a monument of learning.

Just a passing glance from the train will make you look twice. You will come back, visit, and learn. Your knowledge with grow, along with the building That is what the building aims for. Knowledge is a growing fragment and so will the library. The building is in a strict grid wherein the current building occupies half of it. Each pod of the building is similar in technology as the next and can become removable or changed if needed, much like how knowledge evolves.

The

building will grow and change with the changing

knowledge that will be processed within its walls.

The library will grow not only its shelf space but

the chance that new ideas and technology will be realised from theories into a practical use.

The Haha

The objective of the project is to design a retracting bridge for the prospective audience of the theatre to pass through. The bridge should narrate a journey of its own and become its own attraction while not taking attention away from the theatre. Therefore, the group seeks to present the bridge with its own dramatic performance looking dynamic while it is retracted and while the bridge is down.

Macro

was one of the first projects

in the first year of university.

particular map was a group project.

This The

group had to create a non-traditional map of the city of

Newcastle,

and in

particular, the route through the city that would become the basis of the projects throughout the year.

The

map was made through pushing

down the form of the buildings in

Styrofoam to make negative space. Pins are placed in the map and the quantity and placing are dependant on the atmosphere the group got from the journey.

The

same can be said about

the how the strings were put together.

Strings

were then pinned all over the

map to show different way a journey can be made from the pre-made route.
