Sleeping Bag Comparison Chart Down & insuLITE Sleeping Bag Features
Use this easy-to-follow chart to help pick your perfect sleeping bag • S elect a bag with a temperature rating for the coldest night time temperature you expect to encounter – anticipate the worst when it comes to the weather! • Down sleeping bags are lightweight, highly compressible and have the best weight-to-warmth ratio of any fill. • insuLITE sleeping bags dry quickly, are easy to clean and are the ideal choice for use in damp conditions. • The shape of your bag makes a difference. Rectangular bags allow you to spread out in your bag and have more space for your body to heat up. Mummy bags generate more heat in a faster period of time and are fantastic in cold climates and at high elevation.
• Using a sleeping mat creates a layer of comfort and insulation from the ground. • A Down bags loft rating is an indicator of two important features; the warmth-to-weight efficiency and compressibility – both critical in retaining warmth and comfort. • If you’re likely to encounter damp conditions consider a down bag with an eproof DWR (durable water repellency) finish or a insuLITE fill bag. • Left and right sided zip options allow you the versatility to zip two bags together, creating a double sized bag.
Down
• Down is a natural product and when properly cared for will last for many years • Down is highly compressible and lightweight • Down has the best weight-to-warmth ratio of any fill

Technical Information Temperature Ratings EN 13537 A selection of Kathmandu sleeping bags are tested to and comply with the European EN 13537 Temperature Ratings. Temperatures should be used as a guide only. The limit rating has been provided in this comparison chart, as this is the lowest temperature at which a ‘standard’ adult male is deemed to be able to have a comfortable nights sleep. Comfort and Extreme ratings are available on our website.
Comfort:
T Comfort is based on a ‘standard’ adult woman having a comfortable night’s sleep.
Transition: T Limit is based on the lowest temperature at which a ‘standard’ adult male is deemed to be able to have a comfortable night’s sleep. Extreme: T Extreme is a survival only rating for a ‘standard’ adult woman. “In the risk range a strong sensation of cold has to be expected and there is a risk of hypothermia”. This is an extreme survival rating only and is not advisable for consumers to rely on this rating for general use. The best guideline for temperatures for purchase decisions are the T Comfort and T Limit ratings.
