How can architecture positively impact the lives of homeless veterans?

Biophilic and modular design should be used in transitional housing for homeless veterans so they can be assisted in overcoming physical and mental disabilities.

This project will redefine how transitional housing for homeless veterans should be designed. It will create new standards by creating spacious floor plans for people with physical disabilities, using biophilic design to reduce the effects of mental illnesses, and capitalizing on modular design for its time and cost efficiency. This project will introduce VA facilities on-site to allow for easier access to medical treatment. It will integrate the local community through outdoor public spaces and commercial buildings to encourage the interaction of homeless veterans and others in the community. This facility will mainly house single-unit dwellings because 92% of homeless veterans are single males. However, there will be some two-bedroom units for the occasional bonded pair.
