BAY1 EAST OVERALL SECTION
This section illustrates the relationship of the new structural insertion behind the large heritage machinery that will remain in-situ.
At ground floor the Workshop Display wall dividing the space from the Loading Dock transitions from clear to semi-transparent in Bay 1 then to solid in Bay 2. This is a design gesture that performs a screening function and plays a large role in the interpretation of the space, creating intrigue and interest.
Glazing is clear and transparent with minimal framing, supported by the new steel structure that is finished with a micaceous paint contrasting from the heritage steel trusses and paint finish of the iron columns.
The balustrade over is constructed of steel stanchions and perforated steel panels. Creating a semitransparent horizontal band across the space.
The pits surrounding the Davy Press will be revealed with steel framed glazing. Diffused light will illuminate the space and supporting text will describe the use and function of the pits.
