Quoted simply as “La Scala”, in addition to being one of the most famous theaters in the world, nicknamed “the temple of opera”, the Teatro alla Scala was founded at the behest of Empress Maria Theresa of Austria after the fire 1776 destroyed the Teatro Regio Ducale di Milano. His season is one of the most important events of Milanese cultural life: he also sees the alternation of opera and ballet, of Italian and foreign composers, of ancient and contemporary music.Friday, December 7th 2018 at 6.00 pm Giuseppe Verdi’s Attila (with a libretto by Temistocle Solera) inaugurates the Teatro alla Scala Opera Season 2018/2019. Directs the maestro Riccardo Chailly, who continues his reconnaissance of the Italian repertoire retracing the youthful years of Verdi. The installation is entrusted to Davide Livermore, who after the debut of Scala with Händel’s Tamerlano has already collaborated with Chailly in the past few months for Don Pasquale di Donizetti. With him the Giò Forma for the scenes, enriched by the videos of d-Wok and illuminated by Antonio Castro, and by Gianluca Falaschi for the costumes. On stage on December 3rd, Ildar Abdrazakov plays the protagonist; Saioa Hernández, a new entry is Odabella, Fabio Sartori is Foresto and George Petean plays the role of Ezio; Francesco Pittari and Gianluca Buratto play the short but not secondary roles of Uldino and Papa Leone. In addition to the premiere, Attila is staged at the Teatro alla Scala on the following dates: Tuesday, December 4 (6.00 pm, preview dedicated to young people - LaScala Under 30); Tuesday 11 December, Friday 14 December, Tuesday 18 December, Friday 21 December, Wednesday 2 January, Saturday 5 January and Tuesday 8 January (always at 20.00).
