Listening the silence!

Biography of Robert Burns

Poem Poem

My Poem

Robert Burns Son of farmer William Burns, was born in a humble farming family and began writing poetry in his teens, achieving its publication from 1786, but make huge profits. This motivated not to leave work in the fields, and in 1789 obtained a position as an officer of the customs service. He had 9 children with Jean Armour, dying at age 37 from heart problems that caused the hard work in the field. He is considered a pioneer of the Romantic movement, and after his death became a source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism. It is a cultural icon in Scotland and the Scottish diaspora throughout the world.

Sensibility how charming

Sensibility how charming, Thou, my friend, can´st truly tell! But Distress with horrors arming Thou alas! hast known too well! Fairest flower, behold the lily Blooming in the sunny ray: Let the blast sweep o´er the valley, See it prostrate in the clay. Hear the woodlark charm the forest, Telling o´er his little joys; But alas! a prey the surest To each pirate of the skies! Darly bought the hidden treasure Finer feelings can bestow: Chords that vibrate sweetest pleasure Thrill the deepest notes of woe

To an old sweetheart

Written on a copy of his poems Once fondly lov'd and still remember'd dear, Sweet early object of my youthful vows, Accept this mark of friendship, warm, sincere(Friendship! Tis all cold duty now allows);

And when you read the simple artless rhymes, One friendly sgh for him –he asks no moreWho, distant, burns in flaming torrid climes, Or haply kies beneath th´Atkantic roar.

This is the end,

Hold your breath And count to ten, So this is how the story went, I met someone by accident, That blew me away, It was in the darkest of my days, When you took my sorrow and buried away, I don't know why I'm scared, I've been here before, Every feeling, every word, I've imagined it all, You'll never know if you never try, To forget your past and simply be mine,

Just give me a reason , Just a little bit's enough , Just a second we're not broken just bent , And we can learn to love again , It's in the stars , It's been written in the scars on our hearts We're not broken just bent , And we can learn to love again ,
