Topping the charts is the world’s only bungee jump where you are able to defy death by jumping into an active volcano full of bubbling hot molten lava. Jumpers are flown in a helicopter until they are hovering over Villarrica Volcano. Next thing they know, they’re dangling a mere 700ft above the pool of death. An adventure of a lifetime that is unfortunately only for the rich and suicidal; the 6-day package will set you back a whopping $9995 (approximately £6250).

Macau Tower, China
The Guinness book of World Records states this as being the highest commercial bungee jump in the world. A drop of 764ft from the tower - standing at just over 1100ft - allows jumpers to fall at a speed reaching 125mph. Good for those on a tighter jumping budget, this comes in at less than a grand.

Calling: Thrill seeker
To most, the sport of bungee jumping could closely be compared to jumping to ones death. However, for the thrillseekers among us, such an activity would be regarded very highly on the adrenaline rush scale, perhaps appropriately placed between sky-diving and swimming with sharks. For those searching for an extra high, these locations provide the perfect experience for all your jumping extravaganza needs.

Royal Gorge Bridge, Colorado
This bungee jump could be summed up as throwing yourself off the highest suspension bridge known to man. The bridge, which has unreassuringly been said to “sway a bit” in the wind, is located 1054ft above the roaring Arkansas River.

Verzasca Dam, Switzerland
5
Probably the most famous bungee jumping location - having being featured for James Bond movie stunts, no less - this would be one to gloat about. The curved hydroelectric dam wall looks somewhat bone-breaking, but overlooking that, you’ll be dam-right cool. You’ll be flung from a height of 721ft in exchange for such worthy level of 007-coolness.

Bloukrans Bridge, South Africa
The ‘Mekka’ for bungee fans, Bloukrans Bridge is a single-span arch in the Western Cape above the Bloukrans River. If you’re looking for the smoothest jump in the business, this would be the one to go for; the 709ft drop uses pendulum bungee technology, which allows for a comfortable recoil. Hurrah, no chaffing!

The Last Resort, Nepal
The award for dodgiest-looking bridge ever goes to this one. The 623ft plunge should cater to the majority of the adrenaline seekers out there.
Spectacularly located over a 520ft high tropical gorge, if you can ignore the premonitional, ironic title then this is a gorgeous setting for a wild bungee jump. The bridge was purposely set up for the sport of bungee jumping in 2000.

You may breathe a sigh of relief at this ‘mere’ 262ft jump...or not. The cord will take you across the entire width of the gorge in a single sweep. 11
