Local High School joins the Hydrogen Revolution

Queensland has the potential to be a hydrogen superpower. By 2040 the industry is expected to grow by $19 billion and create an additional 4,350 jobs in our state.

Ferny Grove High School is one of the 32 high schools across Queensland which the Premier has announced will participate in the Hydrogen Gateway to Industry Schools program.

The industry-led program builds on the investments in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) which we have made across the Ferny Grove Electorate. Our schools and our students are thriving, and I am excited to see our kids build their dream careers in our clean energy future right here in our own backyard.

Draft E-Products Action Plan Released

Last month Peter Newland from Planet Ark Power in Enoggera played host to Wayne Smith from the Smart Energy Council, Minister Mick de Brenni and me as we launched the Palaszczuk Government’s draft E-Products Action Plan. The plan aims to target electronic waste – including solar panels and batteries and seeks to build a circular economy for renewable energy products.

We know Queenslanders care about the environment, that’s why we’re leading the nation on solar uptake.

Now Queenslanders are being encouraged to have their say on the draft plan, which could see solar panels banned from being dumped into landfill.

To keep end-of-life panels out of landfill, we are committed to improving recycling and resource recovery.

That’s why we’re also investing $250,000 to kick off an industry-led Solar Stewardship Scheme pilot, led by the Smart Energy Council.

Queenslanders have until 17 April to have your say on draft plan https://bit.ly/3yUZom2

Repair Cafe Stafford operates a quarterly, local Repair Cafe to promote repair as an alternative to tossing things out. Local residents can bring their broken items to fix them on the spot with the help of volunteer repairers.

There is no charge for repairs but a donation to cover operating costs is encouraged. However, you must be able to carry the item in and carry it out again whether we are able to fix it or not.

NEXT WORKSHOP: 20 MAY

Queensland Health is warning this year’s flu season could be a nasty one. That’s why I dropped in to get my Flu Shot at Dallas Pde Terry White Chemmart where the Pharmacist Tahnee tells me I was the lucky first flu shot recipient of the season.
